INSTRUCTIONS & RECIPES

Advanced Oil Blending

(Please see separate Aromatherapy Blending Chart for the list of Essential oils placed in their
note categories).

Follow these formulas to start creating more advanced and well-combined blends.

Formula 1
1 x Base oil
1 x Middle oil
1 x Top oil

Formula 2
1 x Base oil
1 x Base middle oil
1 x Middle oil
1 x Top Middle Oil
1 x Top oil

Formula 3
1 x Base oil
2 x Middle oils
(can also use 1 x middle oil instead if it is a strong oil)
2 x Top oils

General Blending Rules:

Base Oil
Choose 1 or 2 Essential oils
Don't go any more that 1-2 drops per oil

Middle Oil
Choose 2 or 3 Essential oils
Don't go any more than 3 drops per oil

Top Oil
Choose 2 or 3 Essential oils
Don't go any more than 5 drops per oil

Child of Gaia 1
Note: Higher amounts of drops creates a perfume strength oil - suggested recipes below are
not at this strength.

For 10ml / 0.4oz carrier oil - use total of 5-6 drops (increase recipe for larger sizes)

What you will need:


Pure Essential Oils (of your choice)
Carrier Oil (of your choice)
1 Glass Bleaker that measures 10 ml / 0.5 oz
Glass Stirrer
Plastic Spatula (optional)

1. Pour 10ml / 0.5 oz of carrier oil in your glass beaker


Most common and affordable carrier oils used for blending are Grapeseed oil or Sweet
Almond oil.

2. Add your chosen Base Oil


The base oil creates the grounded foundation of your blend.

3. Add your chosen Middle Oil(s)


The middle oil and helps to blend and synergise the base and top notes to create a balanced
aroma.

4. Add your chosen Top Oil(s)


The top oil and helps to uplift and raise the vibration of your blend

5. Use your Glass stirrer and stir the blend very well

6. Add a drop of the blend to the back of your hand, rub, wait a few seconds and smell
to see if you like your blend

7. Use your blend as a body oil or bottle up in an empty dropper bottle to use as a
natural perfume or a pulse point oil

RECIPES:

(made for 10ml / 0.5oz carrier oil size - if you would like to make double the size, then
double the recipe)

Spicy & Warming


1 drop x Patchouli (Base)
2 drops x Cinnamon (Middle)
2 drops x Bergamot (Top)

OR

Uplifting & Protective


1 drop x Sandalwood (Base)
2 drops x Pine (Middle)
2 drops x Sweet Orange (Top)

OR

Herb & Protective


1 drop x Patchouli (Base)
2 drops x Marjoram (Middle)
2 drops x Basil (Top)

OR

Floral & Relaxing


1 drop x Rose (Base)
2 drops x Ylang Ylang (Middle)
2 drops x Lavender (Top)

OR

Citrus & Uplifting


1 drop x Patchouli (Base)
2 drops x Neroli (Middle)
2 drops x Grapefruit (Top)

Formula 2 Blends:

Sweet & Uplifting


1 drop x Jasmine (Base)
1 drop x Ylang Ylang (Middle Base)
1 drop x Geranium (Middle)
1 drop x Bergamot (Top Middle)
2 drops x Sweet Orange (Top)

Energy Cleansing & Uplifting


1 drop x Patchouli (Base)
1 drop x Cedarwood (Middle Base)
1 drop x Marjoram (Middle)
1 drop x Lemongrass (Top Middle)
2 drops x Citronella (Top)

Formula 3 Blends:

Grounding & Uplifting


1 drop x Patchouli (Base)
1 drop x Cinnamon (Middle)
1 drop x Clove (Middle)
1 drop x Bergamot (Top)
2 drops x Sweet Orange (Top)

OR
