ASSIGNMENT GUIDE IN GEC 13

Compilation of Weekly Written Journal:

At the end of the term, the students should be able to submit a

compilation of the weekly written journal about their daily activities allotted
in their subject GEC 13.

Rationale:

The student’s journal will also serve as their weekly monitoring tool
especially in the process of their learning in GEC 13 and in the tasks that
is assigned to them. It is then so important for the student to keep a journal
since this is a way of updating and monitoring themselves and their
subject Professor. It will also serve as a basis for their evaluation and
therefore they will have to be HONEST and TRUST themselves in
accomplishing their learning journal.

“Journaling is a means to an end. It helps me think more deeply about my

life, where it is going and what it means “MICHAEL HYATT. Through the
journals, useful information will be kept and easily retrievable, ideas and
solutions will be explored and evaluate their accomplished tasks.
Journaling can be about recording random thoughts and ideas that
suddenly pop-out.

BENEFITS of JOURNALING

1. GAIN PERSPECTIVE
It helps me think about my projects and activities from time to time
2. CLARITY of THOUGHTS
Clarity comes with writing. There is power in getting our random
thoughts on paper or on a digital device. It brings light to our thinking
and helps us organize our thoughts.
3. SOLVE PROBLEMS
As they say: you can’t solve your problems until they are first well
defined. We benefit from times of quite reflection and refining our
problem statements before attempting to solve them. Einstein once

said” A problem clearly identified is halfway solved” Journaling helps

to identify such problems.
4. PLAN NEXT STEPS
The journal will help you where you are in your activities and what
you’ve accomplished.
5. IDENTIFY LESSONS LEARNED
What went well? What did not go well? If you have to do the activity
again, what would you do differently?
6. GROW PERSONALLY
Writing is like looking in a mirror. It helps me see myself more
clearly. How am I leading? What can I do to improve my
relationships?
7. ASK QUESTIONS
As I journal, I capture questions. If I have answers, I write it out. If I
don’t have, it’s still helpful to see the questions.
Overtime, I can resolve these open questions. It is therefore a way
of communicating to oneself since you ask question and you learn
to answer your own question.

Activity journaling proves that it will help students in every aspect of

their lives. They will learn and will also learn to cherish their
accomplishment as a rewarding and valuable experience that they
will use in their life’s journey.
