Beauty Care - Lesson Plan

This document contains a detailed lesson plan for a Grade 11 subject on wellness massage. The objectives are for students to be able to identify and explain post-massage advice, value the importance of applying such advice, and perform aftercare advice. The lesson plan outlines preparatory activities like prayers, attendance checking and discussing classroom rules. It then reviews the four main massage strokes - effleurage, petrissage, tapotement and vibration - and describes each technique. An icebreaker activity involves showing pictures and having students describe the scenarios and provide advice. The lesson plan demonstrates techniques for verbal and non-verbal classroom communication to engage students.

4. Discussing Classroom Rules

Before we are going to start with our

formal discussion, let me first discuss to
you our classroom rules. So I think many
of you will ask me if why is it that we need
to follow classroom rules, right? Obviously,
if there is no classroom rules to follow,
everything will be in chaotic situation. First
rule is you have to pay attention while your
teacher is discussing or while your
classmate is speaking. Second, be
respectful. Avoid doing things that may
disrupt your teacher and classmates. If
you want to say something, just raise your
hand to speak. Next, always come to class
prepared to learn. It means that always

The hand skim over the surface of

Very Good! So is there anyone who can describe the tissues, ma’am
how effleurage massage performs?

Very good! So when we say effleurage it refers

to softly skimming the body’s skin following it’s
contour through gliding movement. The purpose of
this is to check the alignment of muscles. So that’s
how you perform the effleurage.
How about the petrissage? Can you describe Deep pressure is applied to tissue
how petrissage massage performs? and underlying muscle, ma’am

That’s great! So when we say petrissage it has

a kneading technique or in tagalog when we say
kneading it means “ nagmamasa or para kang
nagmamasa nang tinapay”. It is perform by hacking, cupping,

manipulations. These are the shaking and vibration

knowledgeable from previous topic. I think it’s
about time to learn new topic. But before that let us
have an ice breaker.

another person won’t lessen the pain. In fact, it’s
more likely to make a person feel worse and will
slow the progress of healing.

Okay, I think you are all capable of mastering the

aftercare services and advices. Why? Because you
are all able to give ideas and advices. Okay, do
have an idea of what is our topic for today? Yes ma’am.

D. Presentation

So class, this morning we are going to learn

about the Post advice and Post Services to clients
in a Wellness Massage. In wellness massage, you
should also know the products that you are using
or what services you are going to offer to your
client. That’s why this topic is very good and
interesting. So you have to listen. By learning the
content of this topic, you are expected to become a
future massage therapist or a train staff who does  Indicator 1
the massage services. And if you want to become (Apply knowledge of content
a professional Physical Therapist in the future, at within curriculum teaching

or how to give post advices because a massage
therapy and a Physical Therapy has the same goal
which is to aid in healing, relieve pain and restore
function of the body. The only difference is that a
massage therapy is focusing on muscles and some
soft tissues of the body to help relieve the pain and
also the stress. While the physical therapy is part
of the treatment plan of the patient and can be
painful. Or even in nailcare, post advices are also
applicable because the maintenance of the
fingernails and toenails is important for health as
well as cosmetic reasons. In the same manner, you
are expected to be expert in identifying and
handling products, services, tools, and equipment.
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

So now, it’s for you to understand and give

post advices and post services to the
clients experienced right after the
massage.

E. Discussion

So who among you here experienced

having a massage or hilot? You can raise
your hands. What are the reactions right There is an increase in sweating, ma’am
after the massage?

Very Good! So class, here are the

healing reactions right after the massage. I
want you to make yourselves be familiar
with those manifestations so that you are
not clueless of what would be the real
reactions of your clients right after the
massage. So these healing reactions right
after the massage are the following:
 Fatigued or tired
 Increased sweating, thirst or
urination
 Irritable or energized
 Heightened emotions ( low or high)
 Runny, stuffy or blocked nose
 Sound Sleeping and vivid dreams

So, don’t worry because those body

reactions are just normal and part of the
healing process of the body right after the Aftercare refers to the services to help the
massage. And those reactions should be recovering client achieve it’s optimum

Very Good! So why do we need to hydrate To remove toxic in the body, ma’am
of drink plenty of water after the massage?

Very good! We need to advice client to

drink plenty of water to reduce fatigue and
help eliminate toxics from the body.

Next advice is to Cut down on drinks like Coffee contains caffeine that makes our
coffee or sodas. So what do you think is body active ma’am. So if the purpose right
the main reason of avoiding coffee or after the massage is relaxation or sleep
sodas right after the massage? right after the massage session, drinking
coffee right after the massage can be a
hindrance to absorb the full benefits of
healing session.

Very well said! Drinking coffee or sodas

may add more toxins to your body. Next
massage advice is to eat a light healthy
meal. So client should eat a light healthy
meal right after the massage so the body
can concentrate on healing process and
encourage detoxification.

So, who can read the fourth advice? Rest as much as possible.
Ok, so advice your client to rest and relax
after the treatment. There are many
techniques that may be used to encourage
the client to relax. These are the following:
The relaxation response which involves
the client’s response to a quiet soothing
environment. Total
concentration on a particular object while
trying to let go of all tension.
 Visualization or imagining involves
visualizing pleasantly soothing
situations conducive to relaxation
like lying on the beach.
 Progressive relaxation aims to
develop an awareness of the

relaxation.

questions?

Values Integration

 Why do you think we need to

of someone’s particular treatment, and
help them to take some action to aid in
their recovery. After care services is done
to minimize the risk of something going
wrong. It is like checking your answers in
math. Our math teachers always told us to
recheck and re-evaluate our solutions to
be sure of our answers. Second, it gives
the opportunity to stay contact with the
client. As what our English told us,
effective communication is important to
build and maintain good relationship with
each other. Third is professionalism.
Providing aftercare advices is an integral
part in providing service to the client. As
what our values teacher told us,
professionalism should not only be seen
on the name labels and physical

to our clientele.
