Presentation, Interpretation and Analysis of Data

This chapter gives the presentation and analysis of the results for the study. The
data were based on the responses of 6 participants from senior high school students of
Notre Dame Siena College of Polomolok. The selected participants of senior high
school students were chosen to participate in the interview. This study examined
student’s perspective on the school policies of Notre Dame Siena College of Polomolok.

Table 1. The challenges that they currently facing while studying and working.

Participant 1 The challenges that I’m currently facing is

time management because I am working,
while studying are: how I manage my
time and being able to participate on any
school activities while I am working.
Participant 2 The challenges I’m facing is that I’m
having a slight problem by time
management as well as my focusing my
studies because there is a timer
attach in my schedule by go shipping by
having a online classes and answering
the modules from that same day.

Participant 3 This is important, because first is that I

really need time management. It is
important which is I need to make time for
work and my studies. For me, it is really
difficult to be a working student because
for example if there’s a project to be done
then there will be an online consultation
may online consultation it will affect my
work as well as my studies sometimes.

Participant 4 The challenges that I currently facing right

now is limited time.
Participant 5 The challenges I am currently facing
studying and working, related to time
because a lot of time studying and
working can interfere each other therefore
it can’t be hard.
Participant 6 The challenges that I currently facing
while studying and working is my time
management because it is hard if there
will be a conflict in schedule.

Table 1 shows that majority of the participants said that time management is

crucial because they are unsure how they will manage their time while having an online

class, school activities, answering their modules and also by handling their work at the

same time. The most common sort of labor is student work, which is driven mostly by

financial necessity: to fulfil an immediate or critical need; to cover a gap in other forms

of student support; to supplement income in order to provide a better student

experience; or to assist in the pursuit of future goals.

Table 2. Ways on how they handle their time while studying and working.

Participant 1 During the day, I was working and when

there is no costumer I answer my
modules, and during the night, I continue
answering until I got sleepy.
Participant 2 By making a schedule which should not
intervening in my studies and focusing
what really needs to come first.

Participant 3 For me, I can handle by time

management. It just if you can manage
and put limits on how long you’ll work and
you can also give time for your studies.
so for me, I can manage.
Participant 4 -I handle my study while working and
managing my time.
Participant 5 I handle my time while studying and
working by making schedules from
morning to night, so that I can properly
study academic and work, so that I can
earn.
Participant 6 For me, it is hard because we won’t know
if there’s unexpected things that will
happen like if for example while working
then your teacher suddenly message
posted a link for consultation at the same
time of your shift in your job, so that
makes it difficult for me.
Table 2 shows that they handle their time by making a schedule and stick to it, it

will help them feel in control and maximize their preparedness so that it will not

intervening their time while they are working and also when they are answering their

modules. Working students face incredible demands on their time and resources, yet
little research exists assessing the degree to which they are able to recover from their

demands.

Table 3. The effects of sleeping habit in students’ performances.

Participant 1 - I felt sleepy every time, but I can still

manage it. My sleeping habit does not
really affect my student performance
because I slept properly and woke up in
time.
Participant 2 -It is doesn’t affect me that much all
though sometimes while on my online
class I fall asleep due to lack of sleep.
Participant 3 - Sometimes I go home late from work
and then because there’s still modules to
answer and performance tasks to make it
will lead me to sleep at dawn, that’s how
it affects my studies.
Participant 4 -It affects my studies like I can’t sleep
properly and my time is not enough
because I need to finish all of my school
activities, school works and anything to
be complied that’s why there will be no
time left for me to rest.

Participant 5 -Currently my sleeping habits have a

negative effect on my student’s
performance, I sleep late at night, in the
morning and therefore I do not have
enough time to finish my modules on time
and other school works.
Participant 6 For me, sleeping deprivation can also
contribute to emotional issues and
behavior problems that may affect
academic achievement.

Table 3 shows that their sleeping habits have negative effect in their

performance, because of tiredness, lack of sleep, therefore they don’t have enough time

to finish their school works and sometimes while they having an online class they fall

asleep, also it can contribute to emotional issues and behavior problems that may affect

their health and studies. While students value sleep and recognize the connection

between sleep loss and ill health, they accept tiredness as “normal” for their situation.

For many students sleep is the one demand that can be “put off”, in the struggle to

balance work, school and family demands, “until the bill comes due” when they fall ill.

Exchanging sleep loss for educational progress is explored through “health capital” as

part of a human capital conceptual framework.

Table 4. Strategies on how students handle their participation in school activities while
working.

Participant 1 -Because we’re on the middle of

pandemic it’s not really difficult to
participate on any school activities, my
only concern is when my teammates
need my presence I can’t come because
of my work and it leads me to stress.
Participant 2 By making time and making a notice that I
wouldn't available in that time due to
school related activities.
Participant 3 - Sometimes I really prioritize my
schooling of course it’s really important to
prioritize my studies, but sometimes I
can’t avoid the fact that I can’t manage
my time properly, I can’t go to school
because I have work, but of course I can
ask for excuse.
Participant 4 - When you’ll participate at school
activities that won’t conflict your time with
your work and you should communicate
to your teacher that she/he should give
you enough time to finish those activities.

Participant 5 -As what I said earlier, I make schedules

in the morning so that I can manage my
time.
Participant 6 Sometimes it is hard for me, like busy for
work then I need to participate in class
then sometimes I can’t participate
because I am busy with my work.

Table 4 shows that strategies on how students handle their participation in school

activities while working. The participants gave their perspectives on how students

manage their participation in school activities while working, with the majority of them

stating that their academics are their top priority, but they are sometimes unable to

participate in school activities due to work. Regardless, everyone stated that they

manage their time according to a schedule. Academic performance is dependent on

multiple factors, two of which are stress and motivation. It is an essential aspect for
senior high school students as they are nearing college life and because having better

academic performance yields better opportunities in life.

Table 5: Some ideas on how to cope the circumstances while studying and working.

Participant1 -I am a dancer and my past time is

dancing. I cope those circumstances by
dancing. Working while studying is not a
easy job to do. I became very envious to
my friends that can do what they want
when the have free time, while me
working really hard to support myself and
my family.
Participant 2 - If I’m really having a hard time I avoid
hanging out with my friends and instead
I’m focusing my studies while I manage
my own business.
Participant 3 I just motivate myself that I can face all
the trials that happened in my life which is
working while studying at the same time.
Participant 4 -By using positive self-talks and avoid
destruction, focus on study.
Participant 5 -I take few breaks while working and
studying so that I can refreshed my mind
and properly work and study.
Participant 6 There’s a lot of circumstances that we
cannot control some things that comes on
our way. But as a student and working at
the same time, we only need to manage
our time in a sense of we assure that we
can attend both said parties. For at the
end of the day, circumstances like
studying while working is just one of the
many stuffs we have to attend day by
day, we just need to be responsible upon
managing your time to make sure you
didn’t unattended things on your stuff.

Table 5 shows that some ideas on how to cope the circumstances while studying

and working. The ideas that they encounter while studying and working are that they

simply need to manage their time in such a way that they can attend the same party and

that they simply need to build themselves up so that they can face the challenges that

come with work in school, Including positive self-talks. They do, however, take a break

from working and studying to renew their minds and ensure that they work and study

effectively.

Chapter 5
SUMMARY FINDINGS
The goal of this study is to gain understanding of the working students of Notre Dame-
Siena College of Polomolok and to evaluate what are the possible effect of senior high
school working students towards their schooling. This chapter provides a summary of
the main findings of the study, Conclusion of the study, and the recommendations made
as an outgrowth of this study.Based on the research study conducted, the researcher
have identified and established the factual findings as expressed below.

1. What are the challenges that you currently facing while studying and working?
The concerns include time management and being able to participate in school activities
while working. Being a working student is difficult since, for example, those with school
projects and online consultation will have an impact on their work and study. It's quite
challenging to work and study at the same time while still being responsible and
managing my time.

2. How they handle their time while studying and working?

They worked during the day and answered their modules when there were no
customers; at night, they continued to answer until they fell asleep. They balance their
studies with work and time management. It's difficult for them because occasionally
things happen that are completely unexpected, such as when you're at work and your
teacher sends a message to the group chat with an online consultation.

3. How does sleeping habit affects students’ performance?

Their students' sleeping habits have a detrimental impact on their performance since
they sleep late at night and early in the morning, leaving them with little time to complete
their modules and other school work on time. Sleep deprivation can cause emotional
problems and behavioral issues in kids, which might influence their academic
performance. Their time will be limited because they will be cramming all of their school
activities and schoolwork. They will also be unable to sleep well.

4. How they still participate on their school activities while working?

When you're in the thick of a pandemic, it's not difficult to engage in school activities;
their only fear is that when their teammates need them, they won't be able to arrive due
to their work, which causes them stress. By setting aside time and notifying them that
they will be unavailable at that period owing to school obligations. Those who engage in
school activities without time conflict, discuss with the teacher that you will be given
enough time to accomplish this if you do not have time conflict at work.

5. How they cope those circumstances while studying and working?

Working and studying at the same time is a difficult task. They were envious of their
friends who could do anything they wanted when they had spare time, despite the fact
that they were working really hard to maintain themselves and their families. After all,
studying while working is simply one of the many things we have to deal with on a daily
basis; all we have to do is be responsible with our time management.

Conclusion
Based on the findings, the researchers were able to conclude the following:
1. Reduce need for student loans and the resulting indebtedness.
2. Students get the proper amount of sleep at night to help stay focused.
3. Know the right thing on how to handle their time in working and studying.
4. Time management is the important thing in working students.

Recommendations
The following recommendations arise after the findings of the research:
1. Manage your time well and commit to a schedule.
2. Make a schedule to assist you in completing all of your tasks.
3. Stick to a regular wake-and-sleep pattern.
4. Provide suitable therapy to working students so that they can improve.
5. Be conscious of how you spend your time working and studying
