Reaction Paper

Nursing theories all about is to describe what nursing is, what nurses do, and why they
do it, nursing theories are structured bodies of knowledge. Theories of nursing offer a means of
describing nursing as a distinctive profession different from other disciplines in terms of
medicine It is a system of principles and purposes designed to direct nursing practice at a more
specific and specific level. Patricia Benner she was a skilled Nurse because of her many
experienced in the filled of medicine. She has a book was published in 1984 “From Novice to
Expert” her books talks about the process of being nurse.

According to Patricia Benner that all nurses have to pass from different stages. It should
start in stage 1 novice until to the last stage 5: Expert. She believed that all beginner nurse start
from the stage 1: novice that they are relying through lectures, books, also guided by rules.
Stage 2: they don’t know how figure out the importance of different aspect they still need a
guide for the senior nurses; Stage 3: In this stage nurses they are already know of what to do
but still they have to pass more experienced to become speed when it comes to take care of
patients. In stage 4: they already know of what to do they can apply of what they learned from
different studies. In last stage 5: Expert; nurses they already understand the deep situation and
they are no longer use of rules or any guidelines. The picture tell us that metaparadigm should
be follow to avoid trouble in the hospital and to have a good relationship towards to the nurses
and patients, lastly to have a good environment for the patients will feel comfortable.

The importance of sample theory to the different field in education, research, clinical
practice is to as one the all knowledge for having a good outcome into the field of Nursing.
