1) Belief in angels is one of the six pillars of faith in Islam. Whoever does not believe in any of the pillars is not considered a believer. 2) There are 10 angels that have special jobs from Allah Swt, including Jibril who brings down Allah's words to messengers, Mikail who controls rain and weather, and Malakul Mawt who takes souls at death. 3) It is obligatory for Muslims to believe in angels because Allah says that whoever denies Allah, His angels, books, messengers and the Last Day has gone far astray. Belief in angels guides Muslims to the straight path.

Belief in angels is one of the six pillars of faith. Whoever does


not believe in any of these pillars is not a believer (mumin).

‫ل َِإلَ هْ َِِ ِمن َّربِ ِِۦ‬ ََ ‫نز‬ِ ُ ‫ل بِ َماَ أ‬َُ ‫سو‬ ُ ‫ٱلر‬
َّ ََ‫َءا َمن‬
ََِّ ‫َو هٱل ُمؤه ِمنُونََ َۚ ُكلَ َءا َمنََ َِب‬
‫لٱّل َو َملَئِ ََكِتِ ِِۦ‬
Allah Swt. Said: ‫ق بَْهنََ أَ َحدَ َِمن‬ َُ ‫ل نَُفَ ِر‬ََ ‫س ِل ِِۦ‬ ُ ‫َو ُكِت ُ ِب ِِۦ َو ُر‬
ََ َ‫غ هف َراَن‬
‫ك‬ ُ َۚ ‫ط هعنَا‬ َ َ ‫س ِم هعنَا َوأ‬ َ َ‫س ِل ِِۦ َۚ َوقَالُوا‬ ُ ‫ُّر‬
‫صْر‬ ِ ‫هك هٱل َم‬ ََ َْ‫َربَّنَا َو ِإل‬
(QS. Al-Baqoroh/2: 285)
Characteristic of Angels
● Angels were made from light.
● Angels worship Allah Swt. Day and night, they always obey Allah.
● Angels do not eat, do not sleep.
● Angels have no gender. It means no ‘male’ or ‘female’ angles.
● Angels can change form and appearance.

We cannot see angels, but they can see us!

Blows the trumpet


twice. First, to end of
the world; second, to
start the Day of
Judgement.
Malakul Mawt
(Izrail)
The Job:

Takes soul from the


body at the time of
death. He called the
angel of Death.

Why we have to
believe in angels?
Allah Swt. Said:
ً َ ً َ َّ َ َ َ ٰ َ ْ َ ُ ُ َ ُ ُ َ َ ٰۤ َ َ ٰ ُ ْ َّ َ َ
‫ل ْۢ ب ِعيدا‬
ْ ْ‫ل ضل‬
ْ ‫اّلل ومل ِٕىك ِتهْ وكت ِبهْ ْورس ِلهْ واليو ِ ْم اْل ِخرْ فقدْ ض‬
ِْ ‫ومنْ يكفرْ ِب‬

Artinya: …Barangsiapa ingkar kepada Allah, malaikat-malaikat-Nya, kitab-kitab-Nya,


rasul-rasul-Nya, dan hari kemudian, maka sungguh, orang itu telah tersesat sangat
jauh.”
“Sesungguhnya Allah adalah
pemberi petunjuk bagi
orang-orang yang beriman
kepada jalan yang lurus...”
(Qur’an surat al Hajj ayat 54)
