1 Install 2.3 in a totally new computer
without old version
Note: In case you are going to update the existing DR software of old version by 2.3, it is
absolutely necessary to make a backup by following the procedure “1-IRay DR manually update
software instruction”.
1) Please confirm that you have selected a computer & router according to these specifications
written in the software/panel user manual.
3) It is possible to find the installer (.exe file) forbidden to run by windows per Microsoft
security level.
Check “unblock” if it exists as below. Once you open the properties of iRayDR, and see there is a
message: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect the
computer.

1. Here we used AP mode, Client mode is the recommended mode for actual use. A
separated training material has been prepared for connection process. Please
consulting with iRay in case that you cannot access it.
2. In case you cannot run iDetector after software installation, please turn off the
notification settings as below.

3 Creating gain/defect corrections map in
Workdir/SDK or use factory maps
Note:
1. We suggest you to create gain map with your x-ray tube by following “3 Creating
gain/defect corrections map in Workdir/SDK or use factory maps”. Normally, the
factory defect map can be used directly.
2. For most situations, it is necessary to redo gain calibration as you have a different X-ray
tube than us. But factory defect map can be used directly. Use factory gain maps
directly if you find them work well. Then directly go to “4. Create grid map (If gird is
applied)”.
1) Place the panel under the X-ray tube, make sure that the center line of the X-ray field is
aligned with the center line of the detector.
We recommend you to perform the calibration by placing the detector above the table. The
panel can be installed under the bed, but make sure the bed is as uniform as possible (no
dirt/ dent/crack and thickness is same for all area).
8 / 33 2020-12-21
Figure 11 align the X-ray filed with the FPD
9 / 33 2020-12-21
2) The recommended SID is not less than 1.2m. And key point is x-ray filed must cover the
entire effective imaging area of FPD. See below.
3) Confirm that there is no object between tube and detector, and remove grid/Bucky if exists.
5) Confirm there is no dust on the surface of target of x-ray tube (if it’s convenient)/skip this
step if it’s not convenient.

8) Click when you see message” ”
15 / 33 2020-12-21
11) Click Generate and wait for successful message.
1) Click
2) Uncheck
3) Shoot with the suggested KV and adjust the mAs to reach the expected gray value (“center
average is expected”). The operator would need to take 8 images to complete the defect
map generation.

the
message.
5) If the generated maps are good, download maps to detector by selecting the default and
click .

4 Create grid map If gird is applied
Note:
1. Go to “5 Confirm the calibration is done
properly” if you are not using grid.
2. The grid spec we recommend for table is
103lines/inch, F.D. 130cm, Ratio10:1 as
below.
20 / 33 2020-12-21
Figure 28 default value of grid enable is 0
21 / 33 2020-12-21
Figure 30 Enable gain&defect maps in FPD of index 1 which are downloaded before
2. In case of using factory maps, factory gain/defect FPD template files are always stored
in FPD template file by index 1.Please select and clicking for both
gain/defect FPD template file. Download them to FPD by index 1 and enable them
again. Then maps in FPD and Workdir/SDK enabled are same.
3. Copy gain/defect map to folder “Default” locating in Workdir from the CD delivered
with FPD. Then download them to FPD.
22 / 33 2020-12-21
2) Click and
3) Place the grid above the detector as below. Or Insert the detector into the Bucky and make
sure the grid is above the detector if you are using Bucky and cover the active area.
Figure 33 gird placed above detector& grid direction is visible from mark on surface
23 / 33 2020-12-21
4) Confirm that the grid direction is parallel to the FPD gate direction.
Figure 34 grid is perpendicular to gate direction, please rotate the grid/FPD by 90 degrees.
24 / 33 2020-12-21
5) Adjust the mAs and shoot x-ray to reach the expected gray value. Of course, the tolerance is
minus or plus 10%. You can choose the typical kV for these protocols requesting a grid.
Figure 36 reach the expected gray value, then the blank would be in green
message

2) Check SWGridRm and take an image to confirm the grid lines are
filtered.

Figure 40 click ok and restart the software
2. Run DRCC again and configure the settings as below, then click OK. (It depends on the panel
model.) Here a grid calibration is done and we should selected “SWGridRemoval”. In
case of no grid is applied, please select “Normal”.

6.2 Possible error and trouble shooting
Note: If you meet an error or issue which cannot be addressed by the following instruction.
Please send us an email including:
8) detector.log; (D:\XRayDR\Xray\XRayDR\XRayConsole\work_dir\Mars1417V3);
9) calibration.log; (D:\XRayDR\Xray\XRayDR\XRayConsole\work_dir\Mars1417V3);
10) DetectorLog.bz2; click button “L” of iDetector to create it. Please refer to the user manual
of iDetector. (D:\XRayDR\Xray\XRayDR\XRayConsole\work_dir\Mars1417V3);
30 / 33 2020-12-21
1. Failed to initialize the driver/defect template proofread failed.
If these is no grid correction map or application for no grid scenarios, please select Normal.
Or you would find the error as below.
If the issue persists after you switch to “Normal”, try the following step.
31 / 33 2020-12-21
2. Cannot activate SW grid removal with HW post offset/gain/defect
If you are using factory maps, please download these uploaded gain & defect maps from
Workdir to FPD again. Otherwise you would meet the issue.
If you are using a grid with lower density(lines/inch) or density too high, you may find the
grid cannot be removed by the software.
4. Make sure the “set delay time” is long enough to cover the time length of X-ray on.
Otherwise you could find some kind of issue as below.
If you meet the issue below, please check the gray value of the raw image under folder
Preimage. If gray value is less than 1000, please increase the dose.
32 / 33 2020-12-21
6. Wrong x-ray tube to grid distance lead to grid removal algorithm failure
If a gird of 103L/cm, F.D 170cm& ratio 12:1 is used, please make sure the distance from x-ray
focus to grid is around 170 cm.
F.D is recommended distance from tube and grid, and ratio 12:1 is high, means SID only fit
170+_10cm. If ratio lower to 8:1, SID can also fit 130cm. but it will reduce the function of
filter scattering Xray.
This grid will be good at wall chest position, which needs a long distance about 180cm. but
for table we cannot have this long distance. If exposure with a lower SID such as 1.2m would
cause effect like below image, detector receive higher energy in middle, but in two side,
almost dose is absorbed by grid.
For this grid, we suggest to use in chest wall, if it has one in customer side. After finishing
grid removal correction in chest wall with 170cm SID, and take exposure at a suitable
distance, then it can also work.
