Evolution of Technology

Abstract:

The evolution of technology changes rapidly and causes to create a new

discoveries each day. Let’s take a glimpse of what are the first technologies that has
been used by humans.

The history of technology goes back far further than our own species, it started million
years ago. Technē is a Greek word that signifies "technology" means art and craft, and
the word logos, meaning word and speech. One of the categories of global history is
technology history, which is the history of the creation of tools and methods.
Technology encompasses a wide range of techniques, from rudimentary stone tools to
the more advanced genetic engineering and information technology that has evolved
since the 1980s. Technologies are evolving as time passes by. Professionals are
studying how to improve technologies just like cell phones. In the '90s, cell phones had
an antenna, some did not have Wi-Fi, and had low specifications. But now, cell phones
nowadays are touchscreens, have a high specification system, etc. Over time,
telephones have evolved into portable forms such as mobile phones and, more recently,
smartphones. A smartphone is a small computer with a lot more capabilities than just
making phone calls, which was its sole use in the past. Over the last 200 years, the
definition of "technology" has shifted dramatically. The phrase was uncommon in
English before the twentieth century, and it was used to describe or study the useful arts
or to reference technical education, as in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Technology Timeline
Early Age Technology

Million years ago, Humans lived for striving and surviving. And being part of
surviving is in creating weapons in order for them to hunt. Humans created the first tools
that are made out of stone, woods, antlers and bones. It isone of the main sources to
strive their everyday living

In this time also, Humans discovered Fire. According to research, Homo Erectus
were the ones who discovered fire. It is essential in this time of era because it can be
used for light, cooking for food and as a source of heat. It keeps the first humans to be
warm enough and survived cold extreme weather.

Neolithic Revolution, New Stone Age

In this new age, after the Old Stone Age and the end of the Ice Age, Humans
lean to the urban development of community. Stone has been a primary source of
materials within that day. Humans transitioned from foraging to agriculture as their
primary source of nourishment.

Larger groups of people gathered, Community has been popular in this time and
creates pottery and bricks that were made of clay, and weaved fabrics were first used to
make clothing.

Middle Age
500BC-900BC
In this era many technologies have been invented, however the most popular one is hot
air balloons. It was created by The Peruvian Nazca People, using it as a flight
transportation, balloon fights, and navigation.

250 BC
Invention of LightHouse -Ancient Egyptians invented lighthouses, including. It collapsed
between 956 and 1323 as a result of various catastrophes.

20th Century
Year 1450
One of the remarkable technologies that have been invented is a printer by Johannes
Gutenber . He invented the “Movable Type” using rearrangeable metal letters in the
modern printing press. According to history, he is also the first one to print the Bible.

Year 1590
In biological science and chemistry, this has been widely used because it acknowledges
different types of cells, parts of cells, and any living things that cannot be seen in naked
eye. It is the creation of Microscope. It was created by a dutch, Zacharias Janssen in
creating the first compound microscope.
Year 1609
In the same wavelength of year, another branch of science has been discovered and
created a tool to foresee outer space. It is the creation of Telescope. Galileo Galilei is
the one who invented the telescope, to see and discover new astronomical events in
space.

Year 1827
Creation of Photography. The first ever modern captured photograph was by Joseph
Niepce. He became interested in utilizing a light-sensitive solution to copy lithographs
onto glass, zinc, and finally a pewter plate in the early 1820s. He then had the brilliant
insight of using his method to construct a camera obscura reproduction of an image. He
developed the first known photograph, an eight-hour exposure of his house's backyard,
in 1826 or 1827.
Year 1844
Creation of Telegraph. In the 1830s, a talented painter named Samuel Morse became
intrigued in the potential of an electric telegraph. In 1837, he patented a prototype. He
was the first to send a message over the first long-distance telegraph line, which
connected Washington, D.C., and Baltimore in 1844. “What hath God wrought,” reads
the message.

Year 1901
Creation of Radio. Since 1894, Guglielmo Marconi has been experimenting with radio,
delivering broadcasts across increasing distances. In 1901, the world was fascinated by
his claimed transmission of the Morse code letter S from Cornwall to Newfoundland
across the Atlantic.
Year 1927
Creation of Television. The broadcast of an image was the logical progression after
the development of radio. A mechanical disk was used to scan an image in early
television. Philo T. Farnsworth was convinced as a teenager in Utah that a mechanical
system could not scan and assemble images several times per second. That could only
be done by an electronic system. Farnsworth, then 16, devised a proposal for such a
system in 1922, but it wasn't until 1927 that he broadcast the first electrical television
transmission, a horizontal line.

Year 1974
Creation of Internet, TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) was
created by Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn to describe how data may be broken down into
smaller parts called packets and how these packets can be transferred to the correct
destination. TCP/IP is the protocol that governs how data is sent across the Internet.
21st Century, Year 2000’s
In this modern era, technology has been rapidly increasing and helping our everyday
life. Today, we have cellphones, laptops, computers, etc. In this era also innovated the
modern style of living, like a bluetooth speaker commands, wireless telephones,
fingerprint locks, and so much more! It also helps to strive transportation, economy and
society

In today's world, technology is everywhere.

Technology is there in your life from the moment you get up to the moment you go to
sleep. Our increasingly digital lifestyle and the advancement of our electronic
environment have become the new normal. According to the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU), the internet is used by about half of the world's
population, resulting in over 3.5 billion daily Google searches and over 570 new
websites generated every minute.

Future Goals of Technology

As we progress into new innovations of technology, we have been learning to make our
life more easier and accessible. We always tend to create something that is beneficial
and that is helpful in order for us to adapt, to blend in, and to keep up in today’s trend.
Today, we can see different abstracts or introductions for the future’s technology. It can
end up being good for us, or it can be used to take advantage of someone.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a large field of computer science that focuses on developing
intelligent machines that can accomplish activities that would normally need human
intelligence.

WHAT ARE THE FOUR TYPES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

Reactive Machines
Limited Memory
Theory of Mind
Self-Awareness

WHAT ARE EXAMPLES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

Siri, Alexa and other smart assistants
Self-driving cars
Robo-advisors
Conversational bots
Email spam filters
Netflix's recommendations
Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality

Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Extended Reality (ER) are the next
great technological trends (ER). AR enriches the user's environment while VR immerses
individuals in it. Although this technology trend has mostly been utilized for gaming, it
has also been used for training, such as with VirtualShip, a simulation software used to
train ship captains in the United States Navy, Army, and Coast Guard.
5G

Following the IoT, 5G is the next technology wave to emerge. Although 3G and 4G
technologies allow us to access the internet, use data-driven services, improve
bandwidth for streaming on Spotify or YouTube, and much more, 5G services are
predicted to totally change our lives. by enabling services based on advanced
technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as cloud-based
gaming services like Google Stadia, NVidia GeForce Now, and others. It is projected to
be applied in factories, high-definition cameras that assist in traffic management and
safety, smart grid control, and smart retail.
Evolution of Technology influences Society

Technology affects people's ability to communicate, learn, and think. Contributes to

society and affects daily interactions of individuals. Today's world would be
unimaginable without technology. With immediate impact on people's lives, it has both
good and negative environmental consequences. In today's world, advanced technology
is all around us. For instance, mobile phones and the internet are instances of
technological advancements. Progress in technology has one disadvantage over
traditional methods.

Learning has evolved to be much more dynamic and engaging, allowing students to dig
deeper into the material they're studying. It also expands the range of options available
to you. Now that we have internet access, we can search for practically anything at any
time of day or night. Students also benefit from it since it makes it easier for them to do
their assignments. Professors will be able to design more effective online courses, and
students will be able to take more quizzes and examinations. In addition, fostering
self-directed learning broadens the scope of the classroom.

As technology has advanced, new means of electronic communication have arisen.

Emails, social networking, facetime, and video conferencing, for example, allow you to
have virtual meetings anywhere in the world. Finally, advances in healthcare technology
have helped to keep people healthy and safe. Advanced smartphone apps let users
monitor their weight, calorie consumption, heart rate, and other health data at any time
of day.
