About the MSHMS Program

The Master of Science in Human Movement Science (MSHMS) serves as the premier post-
graduate degree program for the advanced professional preparation of Human Movement
Science specialists, equipping them with skills of critical inquiry and high–level research. The
39-unit disciplinary-research-oriented curriculum offers three specializations from which the
students can choose one area - Exercise Science, Leisure Studies, or Physical Education. The
program, through its graduates, aims to contribute to nation-building through the scientific
promotion of human movement/ physical activity-related pursuits and to the body of
knowledge of the discipline worldwide.

Students are required to finish the program in 3-5 years with a general weighted average
(GWA) of 2.000 or better. (After the 5th year, the student must take additional courses). All
courses are scheduled in the evenings (5:30-8:30 pm) or Saturdays (8-11 am/11 am-2 pm/2-
5pm), once a week, 3 hours each course. Each unit costs P500.00 (1 course = P1,500.00) plus
miscellaneous fees (P2,500.00 ++).

Admission Requirements
The program is open for students with undergraduate degrees related to the field of Human
Movement Sciences (i.e., Physical Education, Sports and Exercise Science, Allied Medical
Science). The program has a limited intake per year and, thus, the application process can
be quite competitive. The selection criteria include the general weighted average obtained
in the undergraduate program, the quality of any previous published/written work,
motivation, and proficiency in either English or Filipino. Applicants must also pass a written
examination and interview.
