Legal Research
Before, when I think of law study, what comes to my mind is that law school is all
about memorizing, word by word, every single text of a case, a law, or any other
readings that one may encounter in the course of study. I am always amazed of how
lawyers give answers to every legal problem and question they face, how they give
legal advice to their clients regarding their concerns, how they give interpretation to
laws, and how they apply jurisprudence in cases and other legal documents. After
reading the text, I realized that study of law is not just about memorizing. No person can
memorize and retain exactly all the contents of books and laws that they studied. It
involves perseverance, intensive analysis, study, research and experience to become
well-versed in the field of law.
The author said, “researching, analyzing, and writing about the law occurs as a
complex, interwoven process” and “process, not magic, is the practice of law”. I agree.
Studying law entails hard work and perseverance. Learning and developing skills in
Legal Research is a continuous process, even when one is already admitted to the bar.
It will be continuously developed as time passes by, through practice and experience. It
is very important specially in the performance of job as a lawyer
