DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS

Client and User Profile

1. Client

The client for the proposed Intermodal Seaport Terminal, is a joint venture which

consists of the municipality of Liloan, the Topline, the Archdiocese of Cebu and the LGU

of Liloan. This joint venture was formed because they sought the need for a new means

of transportation systems because of the rising problems of road traffic in the town of

Liloan.

2. Users & Calculations

2.a. Users

1. Commuters (from Liloan & other parts of Cebu)

- The commuters are considered primary users of the development, the main

purpose is to help commuters bypass traffic by transferring and

transporting them to their destinations.

2. Passengers and Cargo Shipping Lines

- The passengers and cargo shipping lines are considered the primary user

of the development, another purpose for the terminal is to handle shipping

and business.

3. General Public and Locals of Liloan

- The general public and locals of Liloan include those tourists and visitors

and are considered secondary users, they may those that pass by the area,

stay in the plaza or even just drop off passengers in the terminal.

4. Staff and Maintenance

- The staff and maintenance are considered the tertiary users, they are the

ones that are employed and assigned in the terminal to maintain the flow

as well as the well-being of the facility.

2.b. Calculations

Berthing Vessel Capacity

The maximum number of vessels per hour that a berth can accommodate based on a given passenger

demand is given by the ff. expression:

3,600
𝑉𝑏 = 𝑡𝑣

where
𝑉𝑏 = vessel capacity of the berth,

3,600 = the number of seconds in an hour, and

𝑡𝑣 = design vessel service time:

𝑡𝑣 = 𝑡𝑒𝑑 + 𝑡𝑐 + 𝑡𝑜𝑚

where
𝑡𝑣 = design vessel service time,

𝑡𝑒𝑑 = total embarking and disembarking time,

𝑡𝑐 = clearance time, and

𝑡𝑜𝑚 = operating margin.

The passenger embarking and disembarking time can be illustrated by the ff. expression:

𝑃 𝐿 𝑃 𝐿
𝑡𝑒𝑑 = 60 (𝐶 𝑑 + 𝑣𝑤 + 𝐶 𝑒 + 𝑣𝑤)
𝑑 𝑑 𝑒 𝑒

where
𝑃𝑑 = number of disembarking passengers,

𝑃𝑒 = number of embarking passengers,

𝐶𝑑 = disembarking capacity,

𝐶𝑒 = embarking capacity,

𝐿𝑤 = walkway,
𝑣𝑑 = disembarking passenger speed, and

𝑣𝑒 = embarking passenger speed.

Solution:

𝑃 𝐿 𝑃 𝐿
𝑡𝑒𝑑 = 60 (𝐶 𝑑 + 𝑣𝑤 + 𝐶 𝑒 + 𝑣𝑤)
𝑑 𝑑 𝑒 𝑒

300 25 300 40
𝑡𝑒𝑑 = 60 ( + + + )
40 75 40 75

𝑡𝑒𝑑 = 940

𝑡𝑣 = 𝑡𝑒𝑑 + 𝑡𝑐 + 𝑡𝑜𝑚

𝑡𝑣 = 940 + 60 + 180

𝑡𝑣 = 1180

3,600
𝑉𝑏 = 𝑡𝑣

3,600
𝑉𝑏 = 1180

𝑉𝑏 = 3.05 ≈ 𝟑

Terminal Capacity

The different data such as passenger capacity, travel frequency, and number of

routes per vessel type for the Intermodal Seaport Terminal, was provided in the design

brief for this project.

Type of Number of Passenger Numbers of Number of
Vessel Vessels Capacity per Trips per Day Routes
Vessel

Fast Craft 3 Fast Crafts 200 capacity 4 trips 2 routes

Roro 3 Roros 300 persons 4 trips 2 routes

Based on the table shown above, the capacity of the terminal can be determined.

Since we know that there are a total of 6 vessels, with 3 having a capacity of 200 and the

other 3 a capacity of 300, the total maximum capacity for both vessels is 1,500 people.

Each vessel also takes 4 trips a day, making it a total of 8 trips, given a maximum total

6,000 people per day. Within the terminals operating hours, and the 8 trips that are

scheduled per day, this tells us that there is a total maximum capacity of 750 passengers

in the terminal at a time

Modal Split

The data provided below are the different types of vehicles and the percentage of

the use of each type of transportation both public and private. This will help us determine

the most used type of vehicle.

According to the data gathered, the researchers have found that the most common

types of vehicle that are being used are private, PUJ and Motorcycles. This helps the

researchers determine that a good number of users have their own vehicle as a means of

transportation, while the majority rely on public transportation especially PUJ’s and

motorcycles (habal-habal). On the other hand, the least used means of transportation are

the Bus and mini buses, tricycle and van for hire. This tabulated data will aid the

researchers and designers in the allotting of space per vehicle types in the terminal.

The table above shows the tabulated data of the 2 interviews, and was analyzed

using the thematic analysis method. Based on the gathered data, there are many points,

ideas and concepts that were found, and would aid the researchers in the design process

and planning.

The interview of the peers mostly tackled the ideas of space distribution and

planning. The interviewees were those who would often be able to go to the pier to travel.
Based on their answers, most of them discussed how the piers are planned and designed

in terms of space. Circulation and proper systems are some things that they found

important and are not something that is not really observed or found in the way the piers

were designed. This helps the designers and researchers take the space planning and

configuration into consideration and to heavily apply it, to be able to meet the needs of the

majority.

The interview with the alumni was very informative for the researchers and the

other peers. Most of the answers that were gathered were about the things that were to

be considered when designing an Intermodal Seaport Terminal. But the most important

factor that was repeated constantly was to consider the users greatly. When designing

these types of facilities, it is important to design it for the users, make it user friendly, a

space that makes the users feel comfortable, safe and also familiar to them. This helps

the researchers determine the most important factor to consider in the design of the facility.

Located in Brgy. Poblacion, Liloan, just behind the La Consolacion College, is the

site provided for the development of the Intermodal Seaport Terminal. The site is

accessible from the 2 roads surrounding it, the F. Ramas Extension and the Suba Interior

Road. The other neighboring structures are the Municipal Hall, Parish church and the

plaza that is bound for redevelopment.

3. Site Inventory

3.a. Physical Attributes

Sun Path Diagram

The sun path diagram will help us determine the most efficient way to orient the

different spaces in the terminal as well as the terminal itself as a whole, in terms of natural
ventilation and natural lighting. Based on the diagram shown above, the summer solstice

is on June 21 while the winter solstice is on December 21, in Cebu City. There are two

prevailing winds in the Philippines, the Hangin Amihan and Habagat, the Amihan is the

Northeast winds, while the Hangin Habagat is the Southwest winds.

Wind Rose Diagram

The Wind Rose diagram will allow the researchers and designers to determine the

best way to maximize the natural cooling properties of the site, which is something that

can be utilized greatly since the site is located in a place with a tropical climate. The

diagram shows the different wind directions, and the number of hours the wind blows in

those directions in a year.

Flood Map

The diagram above shows the flood mapping in the Municipality of Liloan. The

parts highlighted in yellow are the Low Hazard Areas, orange are the Medium Hazard

Area, red are the High Hazard Areas. As seen on the map, the site’s location and the

surrounding areas only have some areas which are low hazard, which means that the

area is not that prone to floods.

Topographic Map

The topographic map shows the different elevations of the land in Liloan.

Poblacion, Liloan is not a very mountainous area, so the elevations are not significantly

high compared to the other parts of Cebu City. The maximum elevation in Liloan is

approximately 758 ft, averaging at 66 ft of elevation. The site provided for the development

and its surrounding areas, do not have high elevations, averaging at approximately 20 ft

elevation.
Geohazard Map

The map above shows the different geographical hazard locations in Cebu. The areas

highlighted in red are the areas with high landslide susceptibility rating, have active/recent

landslides and tension cracks, green are the areas with moderate landslide susceptibility rating,

having inactive/old landslides and tension cracks which are away from the community, yellow are

the areas with low to gentle slopes and lacking tension cracks and have a low landslide

susceptibility rating, purple are areas with greater than 1 meter flood height, these areas are more

prone to flooding especially during heavy rainfall, and beige are the areas with less than 1 meter

flood height.

As seen on the map, the Municipality of Liloan have all these highlighted colors distributed

in the different areas. Furthermore, the barangay of Poblacion is mostly highlighted in beige, with
a small percentage of yellow on some of the higher elevated areas, and purple for the bodies of

water, such as the rivers in Liloan. This tells us that the site location is not prone to landslides and

flooding is something that is not much of a problem in the area, which is a great advantage for its

location.

Average Temperature

Above is the table showing the average temperatures in the Municipality of Liloan

throughout an entire year. April is the hottest month, while January is the coldest month of the

year.
Average Precipitation

The table shows the average precipitation levels of the Municipality of Liloan in an

entire year. As seen on the table, the dryer months of the year are from December to April since

precipitation levels are lower, while the months of May to November have higher precipitation

levels, with June averaging the highest.

3.b. Cultural Attributes

History of Liloan

The municipality of Liloan is one of Cebu’s 1st class municipalities. The name of

the town originated from the word “lilo” which translates to whirlpool. This is because along

the coastline of Liloan, there is a spot called Silot, where a whirlpool is created by the

waters from the bay, thus the name Liloan, which means “a place where there is a lilo”.
The municipality of Liloan used to be part of the municipality of Manadue, but

sometime in 1970, it was separated and thus became another municipality in the year

1840. Furthermore, in the year 1845, the municipality of Liloan was created as a parish.

Economy

The municipality of Liloan is considered to be a growing economic hub in Metro

Cebu. One of its biggest industries is real estate, they have over 200 subdivisions and

villages, with a population who are educated and skilled. In addition to that, Liloan is also

known for their multinational entities and light manufacturing industries which comprise

furniture, electronic products, pottery and ceramics, food products for export, and many

more of the like.

Historical Landmarks & Tourist Attractions

a. Lighthouse at Bagacay Point

The Bagacay Point Lighthouse is one of the very well-known historic landmarks

in Liloan. The original lighthouse was built by the Spanish in 1857, but this current tower

that stands now was constructed in 1904, by order of William Howard Taft. The

lighthouse stands at 22m tall and is still in active use today, and uses solar energy. The

lighthouse was also considered a National Historical Landmark in 2004 by the NHCP.

b. San Fernando Rey Parish Church

The San Fernando Rey Parish is one of Liloan’s oldest structures, and was built

in 1847, named after the saint who recaptured Spain from the Moors. When the church

was constructed in 1847, it was larger than the church in Mandaue, considering that

Mandaue was Cebu’s second largest city.

The unique feature of this church is that it is not oriented the same way other

churches are. Most churches usually face the sea to the east, but this one faces the
west. The reason behind this was, the designers wanted to be able to bring comfort and

protection from the heat of the sun for the churchgoers during morning services.

c. Titay’s Rosquillos & Delicacies

Rosquillos is one of the most common delicacies in Cebu, but Titay’s is the most

well-known and also sought for by the people, both locals and tourists. The making of

these ringlet cookies dates back to 1907, when Margarita “Titay, who was 21 years old

at the time, was trying out some new stuff in her kitchen using her baking ingredients

and new culinary creation.

The market for her new found cookies started off with her neighbors and

passers-by who were offered the cooked with some soda, these cookies did not have a

name yet during this time. After getting the recognition, Sergio Osmena coined the name

Rosquillos, coming from the Spanish word rosca.

There is currently a store in Liloan called Titay’s which has been there for years,

and the design of the structure has a Spanish architectural design.

d. Rosquillos Festival

The Rosquillos Festival is one of Liloan’s biggest festivals that have been

celebrated for many years already and it has become a part of their culture. They

celebrate this every last week of May, which is in honor of the town’s patron saint, St.

Ferdinand III. Given its name, it celebrates the Rosquillos as the delicacy of Liloan and

Cebu.

ARCHITECTURE PROGRAM

Liloan, a first-class municipality of Cebu, is a well-known town because of its fast growing

economy. But although their economy has grown well, the municipality has also had an increase

in community problems, especially in their transportation and road traffic. This opted the

municipality of Liloan to create a joint venture comprising the Topline, Archdiocese of Cebu and

an LGU of Liloan, to propose an Intermodal Seaport Terminal in hopes of being able to address

and aid to these current problems.

The site provided for the proposed development is located in Barangay Poblacion, Liloan,

along F. Ramas Extension and the Suba Interior Road. Nestled in a Spanish colonial grid, its

neighboring structures are the San Fernando Ray Parish, plaza, municipal hall and La

Consolacion College. Furthermore, in terms of traffic situations in the area, it is most especially

bad during rush hours, due to the bottleneck configuration of the roads by the church. Thus,

circulation is a very important factor to address in the design.

Based on the different data gathered, the researchers found that the main things to

consider is the circulation, not only for the means of creating a good flow for the vehicular traffic

to aid the congestion in the area, but also for the flow of pedestrian traffic in the terminal itself.
According to the data gathered from the different interviews, the concern that was raised the most

was regarding the experience of the user in the space, in terms of congestion, circulation and

most especially the way finding. In addition to that, it is very important to determine and anticipate

the number of users and passengers there will be, to help determine a better design solution. On

the other hand, aesthetics is also something that most designers overlook when designing a

terminal. Aesthetic is something very important in the terminals to help create a better experience

and comfort for the users, which is something that most ports in the Philippines do not really

provide. This aid both the researchers and designers on how to approach the design and planning

of the terminal.

the question. Some ports,
specifically in Opon

usually provide inspection

you directly go to the

inspection areas should be

in Cebu kay nagprovide sila

**9:43 Anna Betina
Dizon:** Okay, thank you. I
see, so, not all facilities are
consistent throughout all
the terminals and ports
diay. Next question,
considering the ports or
transport terminals that
you have already been to or
seen, what do you think
about the way it is designed
in terms of function? I’ll
repeat it, considering the
ports or transport
terminals that you have
already been to or seen,
what do you think about
the way it is designed in
terms of function?

**9:45 Anna Betina

Dizon:** If you have any
thoughts lang as to how the
port is designed.

**9:45 Sched Rigel

Araniego:** I’ll answer that,
Tin. Mostly in pier tres nga
port terminal, I noticed that
the passengers already
have a pre-determined
route gani, like they are
directed in an axial manner.
For example, when they Circulation of users Space Planning &
enter sa entrance kay Follows Axial and vehicles Configuration
straight na sila padung sa arrangement

So mura syag kanang
straight ra gani, like diretso

**9:46 Anna Betina

Dizon:** Thank you, Sched.

**9:46 Paul Anthony

Libres:** I’d have to agree
with Sched. Like there is a
linear nga flow. Like

Linear and and vehicles Configuration

moagi ka sa katong baggage elongated plan

Paul. We move on to the
next question. I think all of
you can answer this. Do
you find your experience in
the terminal troublesome
or pleasant? And can you
please elaborate on these
experiences. I’ll repeat the
question. Do you find your
experience in the terminal
troublesome or pleasant?
And can you please
elaborate on these
experiences.

**9:49 Anna Betina

Dizon:** I think no one can
answer this?

**9:49 Judith Monsanto:** I

can answer. Okay, so, sa

Sige, we move on to the
next question. What are
your observations on the
flow of traffic in the seaport
terminal? But I think
Libres, Judith, and Sched
already answered this but if
anyone wants to add? Or
we can move on from this
question. Next question,
would you prefer man-

repeat the question. Would
you prefer man-made

And why?

question, what are design
innovations that you have
observed upon visiting
these seaport terminals? If
you have observed any . I’ll
repeat, what are design
innovations that you have
observed upon visiting
these seaport terminals?

**9:52 Paul Anthony

there's none, like I couldn't

that they have integrated

What can be improved in

because you answered this
already. We have additional
questions. What shops do
you frequently use inside
the terminal? For example,
there might be stalls or
souvenir shops. What are
shops that you frequently

Naay question for Judith
specifically. Would you
want an allotted shop or

**9:55 Judith Monsanto:**

For me kay sa Opon man

like sa Pier 3 sa Cebu nga it
goes to other places nga
parehas sa Leyte, mga

man gud kay paspas ra
bitaw ang lihok sa mga tao,
like they’re not there to

think that’s the reason why
wala say shops nga gi

don't think they need it.

**9:56 Anna Betina

Dizon:** Ah, Okay.
**9:56 Paul Anthony
Libres:** I also would like
to add. I think there's also
like a cafe. I'm not sure if
it's in Pier 1 or sa Pier 3,
but I can remember like
there was a cafe in the
upper ground floor also.

**9:56 Anna Betina

Dizon:** Thank you, Paul
and Judith. Next question,
you mentioned, Paul, nga
the circulation is relatively
linear. So, is the location of
the spaces easy to access
and navigate because of the
straightforward circulation
within the terminal?

**9:57 Paul Anthony

Libres:** Yes, definitely,
kay iyahang core kay ang
aisle rajud, ang center aisle.
So the spaces are on the
sides. Basically for the
passenger terminal kay
there’s a center aisle, and
then on the sides kay mao
nato ang mga
base/passenger waiting
area. So naa na didto ang
mga gates, like from gates
1-7. For example, ako, ako
tan-awon which gate
should I go to kay didto
man mu open ang gates for
me to ride the shuttle. So
naay mga tv around the
sites, didto nimo makita
where imong barko or
where imong gate nga mu
adto jud ka dapat. So pretty
straightforward, so sa
center aisle ra jud ka mu

**9:58 Anna Betina

Dizon:** Thank you, Paul.
Next question, diba you
board and land in two
different terminals, did you
notice any difference from
each terminal? And what
are those?

next question is what time
of the day is it usually
crowded? And In addition
to that, is it only during
holidays, or is it also
crowded during the normal
days?

**10:00 Judith Monsanto:**

question 13, I’ll read it
again, “Would you prefer
man-made shading for

moy experiences nga mag

In the context of walkways,
what are your experiences

Objectives:
f. To gather the necessary data about passengers, land and sea transport information, and
the pre-existing site conditions.
g. To be able to determine the different spaces and facilities that are needed in an Intermodal
Seaport Terminal, and how they are to be design in regard to both function and aesthetic.
h. To be able to provide enough space for leisure and comfortability such as walkways, aisles
and enough seating to create a better experience for the users especially during the peak
hours and holidays.
i. To be able to provide a development that is a state-of-the-art quality and efficient enough
to aid to the changes in the near future, at the same time using new and innovative
technology.
j. To be able to aid to the different issues in land transportation such as congestion, pollution,
traffic and the conservation of heritage areas around the site.

4:54:58 pm - You:
Good afternoon. So for
those who are here, kindly
inform our fellow
classmates to join the meet
now, so maybe we can
start on time by 5 PM.
Thank you.

4:59:14 pm - You:
Again, good afternoon
everyone. I would like
everyone to kindly inform
our fellow classmates who
are still not here in the
meet so maybe we can
start in a few minutes. So,
how is everyone doing?
Have you guys started your

also like to remind
everyone that if you have
additional questions you
may type it in the Google

Good afternoon,

5:00:11 pm - You:

Mr. Kiff Kionisala and Ms.

5:00:28 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Good afternoon.

5:00:29 pm - Kyivv:
Definitely.

5:00:31 pm - You:
Yeah, so we are now 21
here in the meet. Yeah, it's
five. I think we can. Should
we start? Is everyone
good?

5:00:51 pm - You:
Alright, are we good?
Okay, we can start. Ladies
and gentlemen, a present
afternoon to each and
everyone. From the recent
meeting, we were able to
collate questions
pertaining to the design of
the Intermodal Transport
Terminal and categorize
them so we can discuss
each part in order. So we
can start with the
questions regarding the
site. Mr. Kiff Kionisala and
Ms. Yam Flores, you may
answer right away once
the question is given. Okay,
so let's start. So with
regards to the site, what
factors did you consider in
choosing your site?

5:01:44 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Factors. Okay, so first
it's very important to know
the location of your site. Site Vicinity Considerable Design Factors and
And next is the (users, transport Factors: For Site Parameters

course and it's important
to know your client and
users. Cause that would
determine what type of
users and since your plate
is Intermodal Seaport.
Your main users would be
the passengers and
considering that it has an
intermodal purpose. It is
important to know which
type or mode of transport
that are going to operate.
And also, the roots of the
vehicular and foot traffic Traffic Circulation of User Space Planning &

To add, we put into

5:02:38 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:

consideration... So to add
lang to what Yam said, in
choosing our site, we really
chose a site where we could
incorporate already
existing routes because it's
Intermodal. So it would be
a place where it is easily
accessible by the utility
jeeps and buses. So yeah,
that was one factor that we
did like, at the top of our
list.

5:03:10 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yes.

5:03:12 pm - Kyivv:
That.

5:03:14 pm - You:
All right. So in our case
also, kay, we were given the

5:04:10 pm - You: *start

(time stamp: 3:08)*
All right, thank you. So
let's proceed to the
questions with the
research process. So we
have a question here (that)
what data should be
collected that could
contribute in the design of
the Intermodal transport
terminal? Since we're kind
of in the process of making
our chapters 1-3 as of now.

5:04:32 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
First.. You [ikaw] Kiff.

5:04:37 pm - Kyivv:
Really, the number of
passengers. It's very
important. How? What's
your capacity? like...

5:04:45 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
The demographics,
population.

5:04:45 pm - Kyivv:
...the number of vessels.
The number of vessels also,
because it determines the
number of passengers. Also
the number of Jeeps, the
number of buses involved
in your Intermodal Seaport

of your... 5:05:15 pm -
Kyivv:
...will determine how big
your space is.

5:05:16 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
yeah.

5:05:18 pm - You:
all right, so would a
survey on the preferences
of the local population be
advantageous? And if so,
how can we get data for it?
Like, um, the site is in
Liloan and it has like a
historical (like) fabric
there. Yeah.

5:05:37 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
yeah.

5:05:39 pm - You:
Is it also advisable to,
maybe, we could have a
survey on the preferences
of the local population?

5:05:46 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yes, it's actually very
important.

5:05:47 pm - Kyivv:
I wouldn't...
5:05:49 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
I mean.

5:05:50 pm - Kyivv:
Yes, it is important but I
wouldn't advise it. Because
a survey really takes time.
Like given the time that you
can work on your plate,
(uhm) doing a survey or
conducting a survey would
require so much time. It
will really take months for
you to finish viable data for
a survey. So what we did is
we inquired for the number
of passengers really with Gather data Considerable Design Factors and
the ports involved, the (Capacity): Factors: For Capacity Parameters
vessels involved, and the Census and Preference
capacity of the utility jeeps, population
and the number of jeeps
and buses, into our site.

5:06:37 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay, I would like to add
about the population.
About the survey, you don't
really have to do that
because the government
already does that. There's
this census population, if
you're aware of that, they
update their population
once in every five years.
And during our thesis, the
data we used was 2015.
And that time there wasn't
the 2020 update already. So
maybe if you really want to
know the survey of the
population, you try to look
if there's already the latest
update of the 2020 census.

5:07:08 pm - You:
Alright.
5:07:10 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
And also if you look for
the data in the websites, be
careful because some data
are outdated.

5:07:23 pm - You:
Yes definitely. Since
right now we're doing it
entirely online so we
couldn't really go to these
offices and gather the data.
Yeah. all right, so we can
now proceed to the
questions with regards to
the theories applied. Let's
have Mr. Rosco to ask the
question.

5:07:45 pm - Rafael Donn

Rosco:
Hello, good afternoon. I
would like to ask about...

5:07:48 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Good afternoon.

5:07:50 pm - Rafael Donn

Rosco:
Good afternoon. How did
you select your theories
and apply them to your
plans and overall design of
the project?

5:07:59 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay. So first is by
assessing the site and Determine Considerable Design Factors and
users, and also by problems & Factors: Problems & Parameters
identifying the problems objectives: leads Objectives (for
and your goals or to theories Theories)
objectives of your study.
And with that we were able
to determine what are the
needs of the users, and the
whole potential of the
study. And once we know
the problems and needs of
the study, we can then
select the theories that
would be best applied to it.
If you’re into...(uhm) If
you’ve already reached the
research framework, that
would serve as your guide
for the theories that you're
going to choose which you
are going to apply to your
study.

5:08:39 pm - Rafael Donn

Rosco:
Okay, thank you.

5:08:40 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah.

5:08:41 pm - Rafael Donn

Rosco:
For us to be guided, I
would also like to ask about
what considerations and
theories considerations
and theories should we
give focus to more, that will
apply in our design
projects?

5:08:55 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay, so given that
you've already chosen
which theories to apply,
(uhm) it should align with Theories must Considerable Design Factors and
the data and information align to gathered Factors: Related Parameters
you've gathered. So we data. theories
should select theories, not
for the sake of merely
having one...

5:09:02 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah. Having a theory.
Having an RRL.

5:09:03 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
but it is a careful process
(yeah, yeah) and should go
in with your data. So it's not
about how many theories
you have. Actually the more
direct, the better.

5:09:02 pm - Kyivv:
You could choose like
two.

5:09:03 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Again, it should align
with the data and
information that you have.

5:09:28 pm - Rafael Donn

Rosco:
Okay, thank you so
much.

5:09:32 pm - You:
Okay, thank you.

5:09:32 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores: *end of
RESEARCH DATA part
(time stamp: 8:30)*
Welcome.
5:09:34 pm - You:
Also, Mr. Rosco. And we'll
now proceed to questions
pertaining to the
circulation part of the
project. So (ah) what factor
should be considered in
designing an intermodal
transport terminal in terms
of the pedestrian and the
vehicular flow?

5:09:54 pm - Kyivv:
(Ah) In designing really a
transport terminal or any
terminal (like) there should
be little to no obstructions
as possible (like) people
are gonna be carrying bags,
people are going to be on
the move, so (so) as much
as possible, you have to
have an open space (ah) an
open space to flow like the Provide open Circulation of User Space Planning &
flow wouldn’t be hindered. space and no and Vehicles Configuration
Like people could really obstructions
move from one place to (Pedestrian) Passenger and
another without stopping Vehicle Congestion
because (because) “it's my
schedule” and people have
to rush, that's how
terminals work. So yeah.

5:10:32 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah.

5:10:33 pm - Kyivv:
Always prioritize that the
flow of people (like) has
little to no obstructions as
possible when really
designing a terminal.

5:10:42 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Oh yeah.

5:10:44 pm - You:
Okay.

5:10:45 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Terminals are known to
be like an expressway.
Okay.
5:10:51 pm - You:
All right. So (ah) we're
also curious if the sea traffic
(ah like) included in the
factors of how you design
the (the) terminal or?

5:11:00 pm - Kyivv:
No, the sea traffic is out.

5:11:05 pm - Kyivv:
Because we’ll only deal
with (with) how we (ah)
how we design. Like how
people move in the
terminal and how (how)
vehicles enter, how
vehicles exit and how we
receive the (the) ships, the
(the) ferries. (Ah) sea
traffic is isn't really part of
(like) really designing
cause that's out of the site.
That's out of it so yeah, I
think just (just) take into
consideration the number
of passengers and what Consider Considerable Design Factors and
ships or vessels you are number of Factors: Number of Parameters
catering? so, just that. passengers and passengers and
vessels vessels
5:11:52 pm - You:
Okay, so (ah) let’s now
proceed to questions
pertaining to the planning
(like) process. So, (ah) we
have the first question to be
asked by Miss Flores.
5:12:06 pm - Airenn Faye
Flores:
Good afternoon, Mr.
Kionisala and Miss Flores.
So our question is in your
opinion, what constitutes
an engaging and well
thought-of Intermodal
transport terminal,
especially in the case of
creating a better
experience for the users?

5:12:10 pm - Miriam
Rose
Flores:
Afternoon.

5:12:29 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
(hmm) I think it should
be sincere primary users.
It's understood that it
would be the passengers so
Boost the user Auxiliary Enhancement of
the design should be
experience. Comfortability and User Experience
passenger-oriented like
User Experience
what Kiff (ah) mentioned
earlier you know that
terminal are known to be
like a place where people
are in a hurry and like it's a
place where people would
not stay for a long time like
it's a point of convergence
wherein people would just
come and go and so, I think
the ease of access and that Passenger Navigation and Space Planning &
for it to be easy to navigate. oriented design Pathfinding for Users Configuration
I think that's the most (easy
important thing (ah) in navigation) General System:
designing an intermodal Circulation &
seaport terminal. Processing

5:13:13 pm - Kyivv: Circulation of User

(Yeah) Always take into and Vehicles
consideration the
passengers’ perspective,
like when you're a
passenger you want to
locate the restroom right Direct location of Navigation and Space Planning &
spaces Pathfinding for Users Configuration
away, or you want to locate
(Navigation)
really the essential spaces
General System:
right away. So try to (try to
Circulation &
like) do your design in a
Processing
way that it could be
understood, just by like
(ah) I think you don't need
to ask directions when
you're (when you’re) in
your intermodal seaport
terminal. (inaudible)

5:13:42 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Right. True.

5:13:48 pm - You:
(Ah) You mentioned
nga like the nature of a
passenger, like arriving
and then going and then
(ah) people going in and
then departing from the
terminal so I also had
since I live in Leyte, so I
have this (ah) ano
experience with going to
ports at terminals.
5:14:08 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yes.

5:14:08 pm - You:
So I have this, usually it
(it) gives me like a
disorganized like feeling
because we get to have like
a long queuing time also Long queues Passenger and Space Planning &
with some of the (ah) and occupied Vehicle Congestion Configuration
scheduled (ah) time. And so aisles (problem)
with that kay people would Considerate and Thoughtful
like be crowded na ba and Thoughtful design Architecture and
how were you able to like Planning
consider that in your
design? Kay, there's also
like a problem with the
aisles (ah) being occupied
nga kanang for queuing
lines going to the shuttle for
example, so with that
problem. How are you able
to like address that in your
design?
5:14:43 pm - Kyivv:
(Ah) Really, take into
consideration the number
of passengers because the
number of passengers I
think why (why) a lot of the
terminals are crowded is
because there aren't Insufficient Considerate and Space Planning &
enough booths or enough check-in booths Thoughtful design Configuration
like (ah) enough like I think
what do you call this booths General System: Thoughtful
and areas where you could Circulation & Architecture and
check-in and those kinds of Processing Planning
stuff. So like (ah)
(inaudible) so yeah like
(ah) give(give) an ample
space, an ample offices for
it to cater a number of
passengers. Also, take into
consideration the seasons.
So, always add extra space,
but not too much but just Additional Considerate and
extra in case like it's Space: Thoughtful design
Christmas season, or it's Passengers and Thoughtful
like somewhere. So, yeah, ticketing booths General System: Architecture and
but the number of ticketing Circulation & Planning
booths, the number of like Processing
lanes that can be placed in Space Planning &
your design. So yeah, it will Configuration
(it will) really determine
the number of passengers.
So

5:15:58 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay. (ah) I would like to
add. (Ah) kuan (ah)
Actually, so even if you
believe nga you really
designed it well, you
planned it well. There
would still be
circumstances, unforeseen
circumstances where you
know, unpredicted nga ‘oh
the line are longer today’,
you know so definitely dili
siya mapugngan sa bisaya
pa. So, what happens is that
managerial and (ah)
operational control takes
place already so that's
Unforeseen Preparedness and
where the port problems: Initiative
management tries to, (ah) Handled by Innovative Design
you know, segregate lines Management
and more lanes for to
neutralize the (ah) longer
cues in line. Yeah. So in a
way na that architecture
cannot, were not able to
anticipate so it's not perfect
but yeah, managerial and
operational control can do
that. Also.
5:17:03 pm - You:
All right, so we have the
next question. In cases of
typhoons and storm surges,
what are the disaster risk
reduction management
strategies that was or that
will be helpful for the
design?
5:17:20 pm - Kyivv:
always like,

5:17:21 pm - You:
Or what? Or what was
like, um, yeah.

5:17:22 pm - Miriam
Rose
Flores:
Okay, so

5:17:23 pm - You:
Or what? The structural
integrity or the design of
the, like the docking areas?
Was it, how was it
considered also? Yeah

5:17:32 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah, yeah. Also take Disaster Risk Preparedness and Innovative Design
into consideration the high Management Initiative
tide and the low tide yeah,
and if the area is prone to Considerate and Thoughtful
like storm surges, storm Thoughtful Design Architecture and
surge. So, and always, Planning
always like, make sure
that if it's a reclaimed area,
you have tiles, you have
like you got that covered
the structural parts so that
we would avoid damage.
Also, the roof bench. Roof Increase the Considerate and Thoughtful
eaves because it's an area length of roof Thoughtful design Architecture and
where it's gonna be windy. eaves Planning
And so you want to have
eaves that will not be
blown away easily, so like
not too long and not too
wide. So, Yam?
:18:32 pm - Miriam Rose
Flores:
Okay. Given that you
know, in times of natural
calamities, it's important to
gather data of the site, the Determine data: Considerable Design Factors and
topographic layout of your Topographic Factors: Topography Parameters
site also. And datas that layout
can't be changed so that's
weather and climate.
So if you gather those Materials: Design innovations Innovative Design
Natural Factors in your site, Depends on the and technology
you would know which climate
material to use. And then, Considerate and Thoughtful
there are also standards Thoughtful design Architecture and
already given in the Planning
structural code that would
withstand such calamities.
So, yeah.
5:19:14 pm - You:
All right. So thank you. So
next, in your planning and
design process, what were
the common problems that
emerged in designing the
terminal itself? Which parts
of the structure, maybe like
the time in the design and
plan.

5:19:37 pm - Kyivv:
I think we really did
spend time in the
passenger flow. Where...
Focus on Circulation of User Space Planning &
5:19:43 pm - Miriam passenger flow: and Vehicles Configuration
Rose Flores: Planning and
Yeah. Design.

5:19:44 pm - Kyivv:
Because it's Intermodal,
it has to receive passengers
from the vessels and it also
has to receive passengers
from the jeepneys and
buses. So how are we going
to segregate that? So that it
wouldn't collide. So, really,
the focus on the flow so that Focus on Circulation of User Space Planning &
the departing passengers passenger flow: and Vehicles Configuration
and arriving passengers Prevents
wouldn't collide and collision of Passenger and
disrupt each other like so. passengers. Vehicle Congestion
That was really our key
factor in design.

5:20:20 pm - You:
Do you have anything
else to add Miss yam? or
can we proceed to the next
question? Yeah. Okay, so,
are there also building
codes or laws that need to
be considered aside from
the National Building Code
of the Philippines that we
should be aware of also?

5:20:50 pm - Kyivv:
Aside from.

5:20:53 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Aside from the National
Building code, Plumbing
code I think. That would
determine the...
5:21:00 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah, the Plumbing Related Building Considerable Design Factors and
code. Codes: Natl. Factors: Laws and Parameters
Plumbing codes Codes
5:21:02 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
the fixtures. The
number of fixtures..
5:21:04 pm - Kyivv:
The number of fixtures. Number of Considerate and Thoughtful
Fixtures Thoughtful design Architecture and
5:21:04 pm - Miriam Planning
Rose Flores: Auxiliary
.. in your facility. Such as Comfortability and Enhancement of
the number of yeah. I think User Experience User Experience
Plumbing Code.

5:21:10 pm - Kyivv:
Number of toilets, Number of Considerate and Design Factors and
urinals. toilets, urinals & Thoughtful design Parameters
water closets
5:21:15 pm - Miriam Auxiliary Enhancement of
Rose Flores: Comfortability and User Experience
Hmm water closets, User Experience
lavatories.

5:21:22 pm - Kyivv:
I'll check.
5:21:25 pm - You:
Okay, so next question.
We have here, how can you
make a sustainable design Sustainable Design innovations Innovative Design
for an open space or plaza? design: Plaza and technology
Because in our project, for
this plate, we are also Considerate and Thoughtful
tasked to redesign or Thoughtful design Architecture and
redevelop the plaza in front Planning
of the... it should be also
connected with the
terminal itself. So maybe
what could we like to
integrate in our design for
the open space or like the
plaza itself?

5:21:56 pm - Kyivv:
Uh, always consider
what's around the Plaza. If
it's a historical building or.

5:22:03 pm - Miriam
Rose
Flores:
Yeah.

5:22:04 pm - Kyivv:
If it's near the road, or if
it's near an institution, like
a school, or if it's near a
park. So, always consider
that. Then, for example, it
would be a church. So at
certain times, it has to be
quiet for the mass to
preside. So take into Use of space: Considerable Design Factors and
consideration what Varies Factors: Location and Parameters
activities are gonna hold. depending on Environment
Yeah. Also, like a space the location and
designated for vendors or surrounding Considerate and Thoughtful
for like activities. structures. Thoughtful design Architecture and
Planning
5:22:44 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Hmm

5:22:46 pm - Kyivv:
Always consider that.
Especially the vendors, a
dedicated space where
people could sell. So,
always take into
consideration. Yeah.

5:23:03 pm - You:
Uh so can you give us
like.

5:23:04 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
for me, it's only

5:23:08 pm - You:
Sorry. Yeah, you may
proceed and you may
continue, miss yam. Sorry.

5:23:14 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
okay, good. For me, it's Thoughtful
only the walkability and Always consider Considerate and Architecture and
PWD friendly since it's a PWD and Thoughtful design Planning
plaza. So I think that's accessibility in
important also. That's all. plaza Accessibility of Space Planning &
Spaces Configuration
5:23:29 pm - You:
Do you have suggestions
of how we are going to
address the heat in such
Consider and Considerate and Thoughtful
open space? Um yeah,
address heat in Thoughtful design Architecture and
especially in the plaza.
open spaces. Planning
Auxiliary
5:23:43 pm - Kyivv: Comfortability and Enhancement of
Uhm. Gardens and User Experience User Experience
areas where there are
gonna be huge trees. An
example would be Use of Natural Considerate and Thoughtful
planters. Like how you see Environment: Thoughtful design Architecture and
in Plaza Independencia Vegetation Planning
where they have these Design innovations
trees in case, like in huge and technology Innovative Design
planters. So maybe those
will provide shelter and
you spread them out.
Yeah. So, maybe add
green areas. Like,
because not only they will
provide shelter, they also
reduce noise because
they will filter out
5:24:34 pm - You:
Yeah. Okay, thank you so
much. We will now proceed
to questions with regards
to the overall form or
design of the E-terminal. So
we have here a question
from Miss Monsanto.

5:24:52 pm - Judith
Monsanto:
Hello, good afternoon.
So concerning the form of,

5:24:55 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Good afternoon.

5:24:58 pm - Judith
Monsanto:
Afternoon. Concerning
the form of your structure,
how are you able to balance
the function and aesthetic
appeal of it?

5:25:11 pm - Kyivv:
So, in really designing,
we grab onto Mies van der
Thoughtful
Rohe’s exterior form, “ less
Functional Considerate and Architecture and
is more”. And Sullivan's
structural Thoughtful design Planning
principle where form design: Usage of
follows function. So we bare steel Design innovations Innovative Design
really designed our structural and technology
building in a way that we
would. We designed it in a
way that it would be really
functional like we wouldn't
hide any structural parts.
Like we would show the
trusses. We would show
the beams and trusses. We
wouldn't clad it or hide it.
Because it actually makes
the building more
interesting. So we always
prioritize if it's really in real
life, if it's possible, if it's ..
how about you, Yam?

5:26:12 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay, I will add. So I think
that every Architect or
designer has their own way
of communicating their
style. We all have artistic
freedom although what
limits are the technical
aspects of this such as your
site or location, your
clients, the data or
information you gathered
such as the number of
passengers, the spaces
needed and of course the
overall function of it. So in
my opinion, the aesthetic
qualities should
complement the Thoughtful
functionality of your Overall Design: Considerate and Architecture and
building because Compliments to Thoughtful design Planning
architecture is technical functionality
and tangible after all. Design innovations Innovative Design
and technology
5:26:54 pm - Kyivv:
And to add, also take into
consideration how your
building will look with
other buildings in the site.

5:27:02 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Hmm, yes.

5:27:04 pm - Kyivv:
That would determine
your choice of colors and
your choice of material.
Because you wouldn't want
a building that doesn't feel
like it's not part of the site.

5:27:20 pm - You:
All right, so we will
proceed to the next
question. Okay, we'll have
the next question asked by
Miss Cambal.

5:27:33 pm - Alyssa
Nicole Cambal:
Hello, good afternoon.

5:27:35 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Good Afternoon.

5:27:35 pm - Kyivv:
Afternoon.

5:27:39 pm - Alyssa
Nicole Cambal:
How were you able to
integrate the local culture
of the municipality to your
proposed project?

5:27:51 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Local.

5:27:51 pm - Kyivv:
Pardon?

5:27:53 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Pardon?

5:27:55 pm - Alyssa
Nicole Cambal:
Yeah, How were you able
to integrate the local Thoughtful
culture of the municipality Integrate culture Considerate and Architecture and
to your proposed project? into design of Thoughtful design Planning
project.
5:28:06 pm - Miriam Considerable Design Factors and
Rose Flores: Factors: Culture Parameters
Hmm, local.

5:28:08 pm - Kyivv:
Since.

5:28:11 pm - Alyssa
Nicole Cambal:
Since it was asked in our Considerate and
design brief to make a Design in regard Thoughtful design Thoughtful
design that is sensitive to to existing Architecture and
the historic fabric of the historical Considerable Factor: Planning
site. So do you have any structures Historical Structures
idea how we balance Design Factors and
between a design that will Parameters
be compatible with the
relatively old site.

5:28:34 pm - Kyivv:
Maybe you could start Considerate and
with what that place is Identify what the Thoughtful design Thoughtful
known for. Like, is it known area is known Architecture and
as a gateway or is it known for. Considerable Factor: Planning
as a melting pot of cultures Image of Place
or I don't know like. Design Factors and
Parameters
5:28:54 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Does it have a
significant history,
perhaps.

5:28:57 pm - Kyivv:
Does it have a significant
history? So, I think. Because
what we did with our thesis
was, our site was more like
a melting pot of a lot of
cultures. So like it was a
Gateway.

5:29:18 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah.

5:29:19 pm - Kyivv:
It was a divergence space Design innovations
for a lot of businesses so we Create flexible and technology Innovative Design
can't really choose one type space: Diversity
of product to really Considerable Design Factors and
highlight. What we did was Factors: Diversity Parameters
we created this space that
is very open to multiple
cultures and multiple
products. That way, it
would be like a blank
canvas for whatever the
place evolves into.

5:29:58 pm - Alyssa
Nicole Cambal:
Okay, thank you so
much.
5:30:04 pm - You:
All right. Thank you.
What makes the spaces of
the Intermodal transport Uniqueness of Considerable Design Factors and
terminal different from the Structure: Factors: Relevance of Parameters
other buildings or Intermodal structure
structures? Seaport
Terminal
5:30:18 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
So definitely there are
different building types,
right? I think it's nearly the
fact that there's more than
one mode of transportation
involved. So that would be
in your plate, land and
water transport. Yeah.

5:30:40 pm - You:
Um, do you have
anything to add Mr Kiff?

5:30:44 pm - Kyivv:
And that definition of
Intermodal would be like
multiple modes of
transportation. Think of it
as your intermodal
Connection Considerable Design Factors and
terminal would be like the
between land Factors: Bridge for Parameters
bridge between land
and sea transportation
transportation and sea transport
transportation. So it has to
cater those two types of
transportation.
5:31:11 pm - You:
Okay, so we'll now
proceed to questions with...
Oh sorry. We have a last
question with regards to
form. What was your
thought process in
conceptualizing your
thesis?

5:31:28 pm - Kyivv:
Okay, so our thesis was
to create a space that would Create a space Considerate and Thoughtful
benefit the community. So, that benefits the Thoughtful design Architecture and
We designed in a way that public and Planning
it would be like a gateway. community
It would be a gateway for
businesses to really spread
out. It would be a way for
tourists to come into the
place. So, our thought
process was to really create
a space that would serve as
a bridge that would open
this place to a brighter
economy. Yeah… Yam?
5:32:19 pm - You:
Okay, thank you. Miss
Yam. Do you have anything
to add?

5:32:23 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Ah, okay. For me, it's
really getting to know the Identify the Considerable Design Factors and
client and the user, and the users and Factors: Users and Parameters
surroundings… the history surrounds of Surroundings
of the place also. I think site.
that's what's important.

5:32:41 pm - Kyivv:
And one process that we
did with Yam, was we really
set our priorities like we
agreed that we would
really follow function
before form and we would
really agree that we would Priority: Follow Considerable Design Factors and
prioritize the flow. So... Function Factors: Prioritize Parameters
Function
Space Planning &
5:33:01 pm - Miriam
General System: Configuration
Rose Flores:
Circulation &
Mmm.
Processing
5:33:03 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah, one thought
process would be like we
set things to agree with.

5:33:12 pm - You:
All right.

5:33:14 pm - Kyivv:
Yes... that’s it.
5:33:17 pm - You:
So let's proceed with the
question with regards to
the structural components.
So in terms of structural
concepts, how are you able
to streamline the form and
it's structural elements?

5:33:35 pm - Kyivv:
We designed our... since
we're not allowed to show
our thesis yet… so, yeah...
we designed it very
“linear”.

5:33:43 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah, we’re not... Yeah,
yeah.

5:33:47 pm - Kyivv:
We designed it very
“linear”. Because in a linear Linear: Design Circulation of User Space Planning &
way… a very streamlined strategy and Vehicles Configuration
way... It gives a sense of
Accessibility of
direction. When your
Spaces
building’s designed in a
linear way, it's easy to
locate a space rather than a
space that’s very radial. For
example, a mall... like Ayala
for example, like, you could
roam around and easily get
lost. But in a terminal,
direction is really defined.
Like, the building itself,
directs your flow, and you
know exactly where you
are and where you're going.
So, that’s how we
streamline our...

5:34:27 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah.

5:34:31 pm - Kyivv:
streamline our design.
But it's the structure. So,
yeah. It's very linear and
horizontal.
5:34:44 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay, so for me, since
we're talking about
structurals, so… it would
be important to first, it
would be important to
know how your building
will stand from the ground
up. So, we're talking about
foundations. So, it will be
very important to know
the natural aspects of your
site just to see the
topographic profile of the
site. And also, it's very
important because your
plate is seaport. So, yeah...
5:35:17 pm - You:
All right.. So, let's
proceed to other
questions. So, what were
the difficulties you have
encountered in your
thesis? that maybe we
could like… foresee… and
maybe consider once we
do our thesis also.

5:35:32 pm - Kyivv:
Ah, one difficult part is...
always take into Segregation of Circulation of User Space Planning &
consideration the traffic traffic (Vehicular) and Vehicles Configuration
flow. Like, where your
vehicle’s gonna enter…
your vehicle’s gonna exit...
Is the space enough for
backing... or this is just drop
off…

5:35:48 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay.

5:35:49 pm - Kyivv:
So, always establish
those... like “drop off
only”, “pick up only”.
Those areas… and also....
ramps. Ramps also are ...
a very tricky thing,
‘cause you have to, of
course, for safety… you
have to place them right
away.
And... we also encountered
a lot of struggles in the
utility aspect like, when Thoughtful
you're designing a building, Identify utilities Considerate and Architecture and
always put into mind (safety Thoughtful Design Planning
where you’re gonna place precautions,
the sprinkler system, the appliances) Facilities and Enhancement of
air conditioning, all those Amenities in Terminal User Experience
like... light and ventilation
stuff.

5:36:27 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah, utilities.

5:36:27 pm - Kyivv: _Edit:

Flores_
Yeah. So when you
design, always put it into
consideration (like
okay), so I'm gonna
place the aircon here,
I’m gonna place the
window here for
ventilation. (So., yeah)
Always designed with
like the final output.
How it would look
(inaudible) (so yeah),
that's the flow, the sizes
were really especially if
it's a terminal and you’re
catering with two
modes.
5:37:07 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay, I'm gonna add. So if
you're talking about
personal experience for
me, the difficulty was the Data is Limited: Considerable Design Factors and
fact that we were very Maximize use Factors: Limited data Parameters
restricted from going out to
like to travel and get data.
So (uhm), I'm gonna say I'm
gonna give advice to like
really whatever data and
information you've
gathered, you treasure it
and use it to its maximum
potential because that's
what's gonna lead you
along the process of your
own research and study.
Yeah.

5:37:46 pm - You:
All right. So we also have
another question from Miss
Judith Monsanto, you may
ask the question also, I
would like to (uhh) remind
everyone, you may also
chat your questions, if you
have another set of
questions to ask, (uhm) we
also have the Google Docs
right now. So yeah, feel free
to add your questions.
Okay, Miss Judith, you may
ask your question.

5:38:11 pm - Judith
Monsanto:
Okay, so I'm curious sa
berth nga area bitaw
kanang sa unloading and
loading. How did you
address the problems sa
low tide and high tide,
especially kanang sa cars Loading and Considerable Factor: Design Factors and
nga magloading and Unloading: Sea Sea levels (tides) Parameters
unloading sa boat? level problem

5:38:30 pm - Kyivv:
yeah, (it) and there's
already data.

5:38:32 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
but,

5:38:35 pm - Kyivv:
With regards to how
high the water can get and Depth of Considerable Factor: Design Factors and
how deep your berthing berthing area & Depth (Berthing area Parameters
area must be.. Yeah type of vessel & Vessel type)
especially.. used

5:38:44 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah..

5:38:47 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
That would also depend,
I think, with the type of
vessel..

5:38:50 pm - Kyivv:
With the type of vessel,
is it Ro-ro or is it ferry?

5:38:56 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Fastcraft, kana..

5:39:03 pm - You:
All right. Thank you. So
oh we have a question from
Stacey Ylagan. Did you also
include a place for
maintenance for the boat?
5:39:14 pm - Kyivv:
Yes, but you don't need
to design everything like
(in) in a thesis you have a
scope and limitations part.
So in our scope, our scope
was to really provide a
space for passengers.

5:39:29 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Passenger only.

5:39:29 pm - Kyivv:
Mainly for passengers.
So the guard house, the
maintenance area, the
detail of the genset room.
5:39:37 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Utility building.
5:39:38 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah, (yeah). The details
of the utility buildings. We
didn't. We didn't like to go
into detail because that was
out of our scope. So our
thesis, we really clarify that
it was limited to really the
terminal design. But we did
add those essential spaces.
So, (inaudible) always take
into consideration the
future expansions. For Consider future Considerate and Thoughtful
example, designated areas expansions Thoughtful design Architecture and
or whatever space that you Planning
might want to add or (that) Design innovations
it’s possible to add in the and technology Innovative Design
future.
Preparedness and
5:39:59 pm - Miriam Initiative
Rose Flores:
Yeah.

5:40:18 pm - You:
Do you have something
to add Miss Yam?

5:40:29 pm - You:
All right. So are there
any questions pa from the
class? _Edit: Flores_

5:40:35 pm - Kyivv:
So I would like to add
also. With your concern
about the struggles we
faced, also
communication and
keep communications
open and be honest with
your partner, like I’m
tired today I can’t do this

5:40:49 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah.

5:40:52 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah. Yes. be straight to
the point.

5:40:56 pm - Kyivv:
Straight to the point. So,
Yeah. Communicate with
whoever you're working
with. because it really,

5:41:05 pm - You:
yeah, since we also, So
since we also like
experience working with a
group with the previous
semester, we were able to
design the hospital. We're
three. Or a pair. So yeah
that was kind of our first
experience also with
working online. And yeah, I
could say that
communication is really
important. And yeah, feel
free to post your

5:41:30 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah.

5:41:31 pm - You:
questions everyone if
you have something to add.
We have here a question, is
there like a way that a
class can see your walk
through video?

5:41:45 pm - Kyivv:
since we're not yet
allowed, maybe after after

5:41:50 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Like it allowed.
5:41:51 pm - Kyivv:
yeah, maybe after it's a
maybe after

5:41:51 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
maybe after

5:41:55 pm - Kyivv:
you said right here, play

5:41:55 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
three years of missions.

5:41:59 pm - Kyivv:
here to yeah, we don't
do that.

5:42:06 pm - You:
Alright. Thank you so
much. Are there any more
questions from the class?
I'm checking the docs here
and also the chat talks. I
think. About guys, if you
want to add something
since they’re here, Mr. Kiff
and Yam

5:42:36 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay.

5:42:50 pm - You:
There’s a question.
What brand is the guitar,
Mr. Kiff?

5:42:56 pm - Kyivv:
Let’s just stick to
architecture for now.

5:43:01 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
And

5:43:03 pm - Kyivv:
Architecture related
stuff right now.
5:43:07 pm - You:
oh, we have a question
of how to consider the data
with the peak seasons with
regards to passenger
capacity, Maybe.

5:43:24 pm - Kyivv:
We actually got the data
from the port authority. It Data gathered Considerable factors: Design Factors and
was provided. The seasons. from port Data (Port authority of Parameters
And there are already authority of seasons)
formulas online where you seasons
could project that data to
the five years from now or
ten years from now.

5:43:44 pm - You:
and,

5:43:44 pm - Kyivv:
So always be clear in
your research that this
building is projected to be
effective like 10 years from
now. So the capacity of the
ten year projection, so, in
Data: Capacity Considerable Design Factors and
terms of peak seasons, we
(from port Factors: Capacity Parameters
got that really from the port
authority) (Port authority)
authority.

5:44:10 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yes, the port authority.

5:44:10 pm - Kyivv:
authority.
5:44:14 pm - You:
I think we have a
question from Miss Gawat
here. What part of the Overlooked part Auxiliary Enhancement of
design usually gets of design: Comfortability and User Experience
overlooked or Intermodal User Experience
disregarded? terminal

5:44:31 pm - Kyivv:
Part of the design. To be Lacking: Auxiliary Enhancement of
honest, the aesthetics. I Aesthetics and Comfortability and User Experience
focus more on function functionality User Experience
because, personally, I'm not
as creative as Zaha Hadid. Considerable Factor: Design Factors and
So I think that's what I Aesthetics & Parameters
really struggle with. Like, Functionality
be intricate with shapes.
Being playful with shapes.
But I tried to make my
building as really, as
functional as possible. Like
you wouldn't have
problems functionally. So
That's my priority. And I
really struggle with the
aesthetic part. So yeah.

5:45:27 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah, I agree.

5:45:27 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah.

5:45:30 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Because of the idea
that it's a sea port. We
were very restricted
with the fact that oh, it's
a seaport. So, it's not
really, it wasn't like our
priority at that time.
5:45:44 pm - You:
okay, so I would like to
ask in terms of the Access: Jeepney Accessibility of Space Planning &
vehicular flow of, for and bus spaces Configuration
example, the jeepney. Do
they have like a jeepney? Circulation of User
also terminal, and the bus? and Vehicles
We are concerned with the
exits.

5:46:02 pm - Kyivv:
Hmm.

5:46:03 pm - You:
I know.

5:46:04 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Was.
5:46:04 pm - You:
Like do they also have Private vehicle Accessibility of Space Planning &
private cars when we’re drop-off spaces Configuration
going to drop off or
something or should they
have their own exit also?

5:46:15 pm - Kyivv:
Since the site that we Restriction of Accessibility of Space Planning &
work on was fairly small. vehicles, limited spaces Configuration
We restrict it, limited to to site
phil cabs. If you know phil Circulation of User
cabs. So, on our side, we and Vehicles
had in our area of study, we
had 190 phil cabs that were Passenger and
ready to go on routes. So we Vehicle Congestion
just take into consideration
because if you're going to
cater everything, the site
may be too small, so maybe
really choose what type of
specific vehicle that could
enter your site. If you have
that part of the area, you
could also provide jeepney
stuff there, so that it
wouldn't congest in the
seaport. You're not limited
to place vehicular parking
or vehicular drop off on the
seaport sides only. If you
have other areas where you
could work on you could
place other stuff there to
further cater to the
demand. So, you're not
limited with just the
seaport side you could
play.. just make the flow
effective.

5:47:43 pm - You:
Miss Yam, do you have
anything to add?

5:47:47 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Oh no, I think.
5:47:47 pm - You:
All right.

5:47:49 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah, it's very important
to segregate the lanes for Segregation of Accessibility of Space Planning &
each vehicle type since lanes (vehicular) spaces Configuration
given, it's an intermodal, so
there would be multiple Circulation of User
types of vehicles. So, to be and Vehicles
important, not to, you
know, have congestion, it's
better for it to have a better
circulation. So, segregation
of lanes, according to the
vehicle types, I think that
would be very helpful.

5:48:23 pm - You:
Okay, thank you. Are
there any more questions
from the class? In the chat.
Maybe you can send it in
the chat or you may raise
your hand. Raise hand
feature, you can use the
feature.

5:48:44 pm - Kyivv:
It.

5:48:47 pm - You:
Well, and I guess. Also,
maybe is it possible that
we could email some
questions that are not yet
been asked today?

5:49:01 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah, it's okay

5:49:02 pm - You:
Yeah.

5:49:03 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah, it's okay. It's okay.

5:49:05 pm - You:
Okay, thank you so
much. No more questions?

5:49:10 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Yeah, sure.

5:49:17 pm - You:
Yeah, I think. There's
none. We've covered most
of the questions already.

5:49:23 pm - Kyivv:
Ask that.

5:49:25 pm - You:
On behalf of the AD3236
class, group three would
like to thank Mr. Kiff
Kionisala and Ms. Yam
Flores for being here with
us today. For entertaining
our questions. Your
insights have been really
helpful for us in designing
our plate for today and for
this semester, so, thank you
so much. Also to Ar. Neil
Menjares, thank you, sir.
And thank you guys for
being here. Others have
classes. So we're kind of
less than 40, right? So
thank you so much,
everyone.

5:50:02 pm - Kyivv:
Okay. Thank you.

5:50:07 pm - You:
That ends our session
for today and thank you.

5:50:11 pm - Kyivv:
Thank you so much for
having us.

5:50:12 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Thank you.
5:50:13 pm - You:
Thank you.

5:50:14 pm - Miriam
Rose
Flores:
Thank you so much. I
hope we were able to help
in some way.

5:50:17 pm - Kyivv:
Over here.

5:50:17 pm - You:
Yeah. It was really like a
big help because we're
really kind of lost.

5:50:25 pm - Kyivv:
After our thesis we kind
of

5:50:29 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
I feel free to email.

5:50:29 pm - Kyivv:
forgot

5:50:33 pm - You:
Yeah, it's been really
helpful. Yeah. That really
cleared a lot of confusion
for this day.
5:50:40 pm - Kyivv:
But to sum it all up, the
number of passengers that Passenger Considerable Factor: Design Factors and
the problem provides is capacity: Passenger Capacity Parameters
more than enough to give Determines size for size of spaces
you an idea with how big is of space
your space.

5:50:53 pm - You:
all right, that is noted
that I thank you so much.
Thank you guys. Thank you
for joining.

5:50:59 pm - Kyivv:
Thank you.

5:51:01 pm - You:
Thank you. Oh sir raised
his hands. Sorry sir.

5:51:05 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Thank you.

5:51:06 pm - Neil
Andrew Menjares:
Yes, I just like to before
we end.

5:51:08 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Our new.

5:51:10 pm - Neil
Andrew Menjares:
Hello. Hi Keith and yeah,
thank you for.

5:51:11 pm - Kyivv:
Hi sir.

5:51:12 pm - Neil
Andrew Menjares:
Thank you so much for
doing this for us. I just
would like to address one.
Maybe one lingering
question in your minds
right now. Why are, why
are they not? And it's
actually a standing order
from architectly. Just, why
are they not allowed to
show their work? Okay?
Number one. No, I think it's
just one. What will
probably happen is, you'll
be heavily influenced by
their approach. Okay, so
what we want you to do,
and I'm sure I share the
same sentiment with your
instructors in AR3200. Is
that you discover your
approach. Okay? Your way
of planning and designing.
So take this opportunity to
to exercise that and then
hopefully you'll be able to
find your inner voice but
the time you get into your
thesis about a year from
now

5:52:02 pm - Kyivv:
It.
5:52:02 pm - Neil
Andrew Menjares:
Okay, that's all.

5:52:05 pm - Kyivv:
Yeah, because guys
yeah, when I aren't that
great, though. So maybe
you guys could show us
like For Creative approach.

5:52:15 pm - You:
Thank you sir. Thank
you so much. Yeah, I think
that ends are associated
for our group.

5:52:27 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay.

5:52:30 pm - Kyivv:
Thank you so much.

5:52:32 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Thank you.

5:52:32 pm - Kyivv:
Bye.

5:52:32 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Good luck, guys.

5:52:33 pm - You:
Thank you, bye.
5:52:34 pm - Kyivv:
guys,

5:52:35 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Mobile.

5:52:35 pm - You:
Thank you. Thank you.

5:52:38 pm - Kyivv:
Have fun designing?

5:52:42 pm - Neil
Andrew Menjares:
Up, please don't forget
to stop the recording so
that it's recorded properly.
Oh, yeah, that's okay. It's
already stopped. Okay.
Thank you. Okay, finian.
Thank you everyone.
Thank you.

5:52:54 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Okay.

5:52:54 pm - Kyivv:
because,

5:52:56 pm - Miriam
Rose Flores:
Bye.
