shows what books and journals are in the Librarys collections, provides links to electronic journals and ebooks, provides access to online request forms used to get books and articles from storage or another Pitt library is NOT the place to look for articles. (see opposite side of this handout for info on finding articles.)
Check PITTCat, the library catalog: http://pittcat.pitt.edu/ Faculty often put textbooks on course reserve; check the Course Reserve link in PITTCat to look up textbooks by instructor name or course name. If we do not have it, search for the book title in EZ Borrow to have it delivered from another university: http://www.library.pitt.edu/services/borrowing/palci.html
Looking for the Wall Street Journal online? (or another electronic journal?)
Click on find articles then Click on e-journals on the far right, gray box.
Type the title or first few words of the title of the journal, then follow links to the full text. Note: if we do not have electronic full text, check PITTCat to see if we have it in print, and if not, request through Interlibrary loan (free) (http://clioserver.library.pitt.edu/clioweb/Inside/Reqform.cfm)
Graduate students may check out books for the whole term. At the end of the term all materials must be returned to the library. Most materials can then be reissued until the end of the next term unless they have a hold.
Graduate students ARE charged fines for overdue material, so please pay attention to when your books are due. Use MY ACCOUNT (in PittCat) to track the status of books you have checked out and any requests you place via PITTCat. Materials on course reserve must be returned to a circulation desk clerk within 2 hours. The overdue fine for reserve materials is $1.80/hour, no exceptions.
