EN7V-IV-c-23.1: Supply other words or expressions that complete an analogy.
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a) describe analogy and its types;
b) understand how analogies are used for comparison; and
c) construct sentences using word analogy.

A. Activity
“LET’S THINK”
The teacher will provide sets of pictures on the board. She will ask the
students to describe the pictures shown.

B. Analysis
After the activity, the student will be asked with the following questions:
 What can you say about the set of pictures?
 How are they related with each other?
 Do you think we can describe someone or something by comparing
them with each other? Why?
C. Abstraction
Analogy is a comparison between two things that are usually thought to be
different from each other, but that have something in common. In this way,
we are like using simile and metaphor to these words.

Analogy Format:
A:B::C:D
_______ is to ______, as ______ is to _________
The two items on the left (items A and B) describe a relationship, and are
separated by a single colon. The two items on the right (items C and D) are
shown on the right, and are also separated by a colon. Together, both sides
are then separated by two colons in the middle.

BOARD QUIZ:
The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be given
illustration boards and chalks. Their task is to identify the correct verb for each
of the following sentences that the teacher will be reading unto them. Points
will be given to the group that has the correct answer. 5 points per item.

IV. EVALUATION
Fill in the box the correct verb for each of the sentences below.
