Life and Works of Rizal

The justice system in the Philippines during Rizal's time was notoriously corrupt, with outcomes often determined by wealth, social status, and skin color rather than evidence. In contrast, the current Philippine justice system is a mixed legal system incorporating civil, common, Islamic, and customary law, with trials and procedures similar to the US system. There is no bias based on characteristics of the suspect. As a student, religion influences one's sense of self, purpose, morality and understanding of others. Religious intolerance, or discrimination based on beliefs, should be addressed through open communication, equality training, and understanding different perspectives. If accused without due process, a student's only recourse would be freedom of speech
