Reflecting on your secondary education, how effective was


the Rizal Law in instilling patriotism among secondary school students? (essay type)

Today’s modern society we really uplift from the past and even we experienced
crossroads but we still stand up and be elevated. In this world we need to seek for
betterment especially for us students that we need a better quality education. Let us
put in our mind that in life we have freedom and equal rights but don’t forget the
person behind that words. Studying and knowing the Rizal Law makes us realized that
we live in reality situation and not in fantasy world.

During the high school days, we been engaged with the works of Rizal such as El
Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere. In school, Rizal Law can also engage students with
different activities that helps them to be confident and which they can educate too. We
experienced reporting in every chapter of the novel, roleplaying, and having a debate
and by that we have deeper knowledge and understanding on it. Simply, when you
engaged on something you can also adapt something and engaging with Rizal Law can
see the true significance of being a Filipino. The life of Rizal happened many years ago
and we saw how he sacrificed his life for our country and we cannot lose it because it
was engraved in the history. All we need to do is to preserve and rebirth his life and
through education we can have it. The Republic Act 1425 not just allowing students to
know the life of Rizal but also how we can show love for our country. As I said if we
experienced bad scenarios in life and this matter (the Rizal Law) will give us motivation
to continue. It was really effective in instilling patriotism because as a student it
encouraged and engaged us to be a good citizen in this country with rights and freedom
and also we can be the person who is knowledgeable enough and has a strong mind to
understand what happening in our society. What I really admired about Rizal is he
showed his dedication, passion, sacrifices, and love for the country and that is
something that we should adapt from him. He empowers individuals that we have
something to show to the world as Filipinos. Even we are now in the modern world with
elevating technology and globalization it is always important that we are looking back to
its beginning.
It is important to study this because I think it can help us to be productive and I am a
person who don’t read a lot and maybe by taking this subject could help me to
overcome that doing. As a student it’s a privilege for me knowing the life of Jose Rizal
and how he conquers many things and it could help me to raise from a person with no
idea to a person with many ideas.
