Truncated Hollow Cone Calculator

A conical frustum is a shape created by cutting off the top of a cone. The document provides formulas to calculate the surface area and volume of a conical frustum based on its slant height, base radius, and top radius. It also gives the formula to find the geometric centroid of a conical frustum.

Conical Frustum

A conical frustum is a frustum created by slicing the top off a cone (with the cut made
parallel to the base). For a right circular cone, let   be the slant height and   and   the
base and top radii. Then

The surface area, not including the top and bottom circles, is

The volume of the frustum is given by

This formula can be generalized to any pyramid by letting   be the base areas of the top
and bottom of the frustum. Then the volume can be written as

case of the cone is given by taking  , yielding  .

Calculations at a truncated hollow right circular cone. A truncated hollow cone is a hollow
cone with the tip straight cut off within the hollow region, or a truncated cone, of which a smaller,
similar truncated cone is removed from its middle. The base is the larger annulus, the top surface
is the smaller annulus. Enter one outer and one inner radius, the thickness or a further radius and
the height. Choose the number of decimal places, then click Calculate.
