PLATO

Plato was a famous Greek philosopher born in Athens in 427 BC. He was influenced by his teacher Socrates and dedicated his life to philosophy. After Socrates was put to death, Plato left Athens for a time to travel and learn from other philosophers. Plato believed that only those with scholarly and ethical qualities should rule, and that personal development and insight reveal our natural gifts. He thought the physical world was lesser and that we should rely more on intellectual senses than physical ones. Plato's views emphasize finding each person's strengths and letting them excel in areas suited to their talents.

PLATO: THE

POWER OF RULE
Plato was born in the city of Athens in the year 427 B.C.
He belonged to an aristocratic family that for a long time
had been identified with leadership in Athens. His father,
Ariston, was a descendant of King Codrus, and his
mother, Pyrilampes, a Greek politician and ambassador
to Persia. As a boy, he was named Aristocles, but since he
has broad shoulders and forehead he was called Plato. It
is by this name that he has become identified to
posterity. Suring his youth, he achieved merit as an
athlete and was also acknowledge for his amazing mental
abilities. On top to his achievements along these lines, his
social standing and connections would have made him an
exceptional individual in any profession he might have
wanted.
– Plato spent about seven or eight years as a
pupil of Socrates. This experience influenced
him, not just to dedicate the remaining part
of his life to philosophy, but to continue his
career in the spirit and under the direction of
his much-loved teacher Socrates. However,
Socrates had been put to death under the
auspices of the Athenian government. So,
Plato believed that it would not be secure for
him to stay in the city and thus expose
himself to similar kind of treatment. That’s
why, Plato left the city of Athens for a time
and travelled to different places, where he
expected to become better familiar with the
leaders of some philosophical movements.
PLATO’S
PHILOSOPHY
– Beginning his early youth he had been
fascinated in political affairs Starting from his
associations with Socrates and as his own
observations, he had arrived at certain belief
about the suitable credentials for those whose
duty was to rule the government. He believed
the only those persons who possessed scholarly
as well as ethical qualities should be trusted
with the control to rule above others.
– Another Plato’s prime belief was that a person must study
themselves in order to find out their level of character. He
believed that personal development and personal insight
is the only means to reveal the gifts that God has given
everyone.
– Plato was famous for his discussions on the
subject of reality. He believed that everything
was founded in perception and the physical
world is the lesser world in every way. He
believed that most of the greater was not clear.
He hated people who place all their faith in their
physical senses and not their intellectual senses
for the intention of collecting insight. The weight
Plato put on the intellectual abilities indeed
makes him one of the original personal
development authorities.
– “More will be accomplished, and better, and with more
ease, if every man does what he is best fitted to do, and
nothing else.”

know the strengths and weaknesses of
everyone in the organization, whether a
top executive or an ordinary employee.
This can only be achieved by constant
acts of examination and analysis. Any
firm must be aware of the path it is
taking and make regular checks to be
sure that things are going well.
– There should be continues
communication among the
members of the organization. In
addition the company should solicit
inputs from everyone in the
company on the direction of tasks
and how well they think they are
going. Having more accurate and
updated information available to

of qualified applicants with job
requirements and expectations. The

them to do what management wants them
to do even without actual supervision. Each
job has a set of behaviors that let the right
