PARA-LITURGY
Call to Worship
(T. Faye)
Good morning everyone. Today we will be celebrating our 1st Institutional General Assembly School year 2021-
2022 with the theme “SHOES: Students Having Opportunities for Excellence and Success.”
Our scripture for today speaks of Christ’s strength in times of suffering and this includes prayers and
encouragement. St. Paul also focuses on rejoicing in the Lord, and knowing God’s peace would be with us. As
we open this new School Year, we pray that God’s peace and encouragement be with us, especially that we are
still having the COVID-19 virus. We pray that God will continue to cover us with His loving arms, and guide us
in this new school year.
Let this be the main intention for which we offer this Para-Liturgy.
So, let’s join in prayer by joyfully singing our opening hymn as we say, In the name of the Father, and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Sing a new song unto the Lord And play for Him on glad tambourines
Let your song be sung from mountains high And let your trumpet sound
Sing a new song unto the Lord
Singing alleluia Sing a new song unto the Lord
Let your song be sung from mountains high
Yahweh's people dance for joy Sing a new song unto the Lord
Oh come before the Lord Singing Alleluia
(T. Flor)
Opening Prayer
Father, you call us together at the beginning of this new school year. We ask you to send your spirit upon us
that, as the days and terms unfold, we may be always mindful of your presence and alert to opportunities to see
and serve you in those around us. We pray that we may teach well by the example of our own lives, by our
knowledge and love of learning, by our gentleness and care of the pupils entrusted to us. In all that we do and
say, we pray that, in building up the community of our school, we may contribute to the betterment of society
and to the Kingdom of your Son, Jesus Christ, for your greater glory. Amen

Scripture Reading
Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near.
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known
to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ
Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is
lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about
these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of
peace will be with you.
I rejoice greatly in the Lord that now at last you revived your concern for me. You were, of course, concerned
about me but lacked an opportunity. Not that I say this because of need, for I have learned, in whatever situation
I find myself, to be self-sufficient. I know indeed how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live
with abundance. In every circumstance and in all things, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going
hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.
Closing Prayer
Father God, we have come to the end of worship, and we want to thank you for enabling us to be here from the
beginning to the end. Thank you for touching our lives in ways we cannot explain. You have taken us to your
realms of glory, and we want to say thank you. As we continue our mission to educate children, to be a
compassionate neighbor and to be messenger of love and peace, we ask you to continue being with us, guide us
that we may take the path you prepared for us. Let your Spirit see us through. All this we pray in Jesus’ name,
we believe and pray, Amen.
*In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
