I. RATIONALE
Reading is an enjoyable activity. It is an important skill to be developed among learners. The Rise
C: A Reading Camp 2022 of Aleosan National High School with the theme “ Batang Aleosanon: Sa Pagbasa,
Bida Ka!, aims to strengthen and reinforce basic skills in reading and speaking both in English and Filipino
among learners. Additionally, the activities/lessons help enhance and develop learners through well-
developed drills and exercises using various reading materials in core subjects: English, Filipino,
Mathematics and Science.
This Reading Interventions to Strengthen Education is in support of Division-wide Memorandum No.
403, s. 2022 Implementation of Rise C: A Reading Camp which aims to address the learning gaps brought
primarily by the abrupt pedagogical shift due to the pandemic, specifically addresses not only the existing
problems of reading deficiencies but also further nurtures and hones the learners’ love of reading. The
learners are also exposed to different engaging activities that would enhance their macro skills.
The proponents identified target beneficiaries in incoming Grade 7 learners to Grade 9 learners and
camp aides to ensure that each learner will be given opportunities to perform the task successfully. The
parents as stakeholders are encouraged to support the program for the welfare of their children.
II. OBJECTIVES
1. Conduct a reading camp among independent, instructional, and frustration levels of readers.
2. Assess and address the different reading deficiencies of learners.
3. Assist learners to improve reading skills in core subjects.
4. Enhance/ develop the reading abilities of slow/non-readers.
5. Equip learners with a sense of responsibility in their own progress and help them become
ready for the next grade level.
6. Expose learners to different engaging and enjoyable learning activities.
7. Nurture and hone learners’ love of reading.

IV. METHODOLOGY
The program was planned by the subject coordinators of core subjects (English, Mathematics, Filipino
and Science) with the supervision of the School Principal to address the existing problem in the reading
and learning gaps of the learners. The group conducted a selection of the target learners and camp aides
among incoming Grade 7 learners to Grade 10 learners. The proponents formulated the activity proposal,
program of activities and matrix for the said program.
