A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Music 7

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following:
a. Identify the sounds of the different instruments in Cordillera.
b. Distinguish the different instrumental and vocal music of Cordillera.
c. Appreciate the uniqueness of the vocal and instrumental music of
Cordillera.

II. Subject Matter/Content


a. Topic: Music of Cordillera
b. Materials: Powerpoint presentation, laptop, speaker, flashcards
c. Reference: Music and Arts 7 Teacher’s Guide p. 63-67

III. Procedure

Motivation:
The class will have a short recap on the things they have discussed last
quarter in Music.

A. Activating Prior Knowledge


The teacher will facilitate a pre-assessment. She will provide
flashcards containing names of different terms and instruments from
Cordillera, Palawan, Mindoro, and Visayas. The students will classify the
terms and instruments according to its place of origin.
In this manner, the teacher can identify if the students has a prior
knowledge about the things that they will further discuss.

B. Acquiring New Knowledge


From the activity, the teacher will introduce the new lesson to the
class. She will discuss the nature and background of Cordillera music. She
will present to the class the vocal and instrumental music of Cordillera
with the aid of pictures and audios. The teacher will also tackle the vocal
ensemble with instrumental accompaniment of the music of Cordillera.
Through this, the learners will gain new knowledge and facts about
the Music of Cordillera.

C. Application
The teacher will show some videos on how to play the different
instruments of Cordillera. She will let the students observe on how to
properly use and play the instruments.

D. Assessment
Listening Quiz:
In order to assess if they have learned something from the lesson,
the teacher will facilitate a listening quiz.
The teacher will play some audio clips containing the sounds of the
different instruments in Cordillera.
The students will identify if what is the instrument being played.
They will write their answer in a ¼ sheet of paper.

IV. Evaluation
The class will be divided into 5 groups. Provided with an audio clip, the
students will listen and observe to the Hudhud Chant of the Ifugao and the
Gangsa Ensemble. The students will identify the Hudhud chant and Gangsa
Ensemble according to the elements of music by answering the table below
on a bond paper to be provided by the teacher. They will draw a star that
corresponds to their answer.
