5 When Michael was injured and taken to hospital while filming a commercial in 1984, he received
a lot of support from his fans: ‘When people heard about his injury on television and on the radio,
thousands of people called or sent letters. Four million copies of Thriller were sold in the days after
the accident.’ (page 55).

Imagine you are one of Michael’s fans sending him a letter the week after the accident. Begin the
