On behalf of the whole organizing committee members, we welcome you to the 36th International
Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN 2022). We are very grateful to have many talented and
very well responsible people involved in the process of submitting papers, chairing sessions, reviewing papers, and
organizing the conference.
This event is a product of the hardship of many committee members who have worked beyond deadlines for the
perfect conference and performed the tedious task of advertisement in the best of manner. The conference is an
amalgam of high-quality submissions brought forward by thorough research to meet the high standard required, as
of in today’s world.
We are also pleased to let you know that, this year, ICOIN has reached its 36th event. ICOIN 2022 is ready to
serve you with ever heightened quality of technical programs. You will find the technical sessions organized in 3
days interesting, informative and inspiring. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, substantial uncertainties,
unfortunately, remain on safety and feasibility of many activities and events worldwide. Travel limitations also will
most likely remain substantial in the near future. ICOIN 2022 has therefore taken the difficult decision to limit the
number of participants in the venue, and at the same time, we have decided to put our best energy in organizing
a virtual event. We thank all the participants who continue to collaborate with ICOIN 2022, and to reassure all
of you that ICOIN 2022 is fully committed to creating a virtual event up to the highest standards of computer

2022
Greetings
Message from the ICOIN 2022 TPC Chairs
It is our great pleasure to welcome all of you to Jeju, Korea, from January 12 to 15, 2022, for the 36th International
Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN). From its 36 years of rich history, ICOIN 2022 will continue to be
an exciting conference covering many recent advances in computer communications and network technologies in
both academic and practical aspects.
The conference will be highlighted by keynote speeches and tutorials from world-renowned researchers from around
the world. They will present state-of-the-art Education in the AI era, Wi-Fi 7, Deep Learning for Autonomous Mobility,
Real-Time Distributed AI, and Sensing for Emerging IoT Applications.
This year, we received 166 paper submissions from 30 countries, and all papers were rigorously reviewed by at least three
independent reviewers. Among them, 61 papers have been accepted for oral presentations and 39 papers for poster
presentations. There will be 12 technical sessions for oral presentations, held in 2 parallel tracks, and 4 poster sessions
for poster presentations. The program covers a wide range of latest advancements in Computer Communication and
Networking including 5G/6G, IoT, Edge Computing, UAV, V2X, Network Security, Big Data, Cloud, Wireless Access,
Theory for Networking, Virtualization, Blockchain, SDN, ICN, Emerging Technologies, and AI for Networking.
As you may be aware, the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic. This global health crisis
is a unique challenge that has impacted all of us. We want to express our concern and support for all the members of
the ICOIN 2022 community, our professional team, our families, and all others affected by this pandemic.
Because ICOIN 2022 will be held on-site and virtually, all authors must record and submit a video recording of their
presentations and corresponding slides prior to the conference. Each technical or workshop session presentation
should be less than 17 minutes, and each poster presentation should be less than 5 minutes. Even those on-site
participants still need to submit their videos and slides in case the pandemic situation worsens.
In addition to the contribution of prominent authors from all over the world, we believe this year’s program would not
have been possible without the commitment of the technical program committee members. We are greatly indebted to
all 266 TPC members for their participation and precious time. Also, we would like to thank our sponsors, KIISE, IEEE,
IEEE Computer Society, IEICE, SNET system, and DSIC, for their generous support. We express our deepest gratitude
to the general co-chairs, Prof. Jong Won Choe, Prof. Sanghwan Lee, Prof. Somnuk Keretho, Prof. Tomoki Yoshihisa,

Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has already penetrated every corner of our economy and society, and deeply into
our lives. Our future generations must know and use AI to enhance their job skills. As a strong automation
technology, AI will also destroy existing jobs. However, it also creates many new jobs. As we learned from the
history, the change in technology has created many new and better jobs. However, a lot of effort is required to
create and adapt to new jobs. Innovation must continue and labor forces must be educated to adapt to new
industrial environments. In the age of AI, digital capabilities must strengthen for all level of labor forces. Students
know that our economy and society require people who know computing and AI, and they want to learn the new
skills. It might be a big challenge for many educational institutions because computing fields are evolving fast.
Many of them may need reforming current academic structure.

TUTORIAL 2
“Reliable Real-Time Distributed AI for Mobile Autonomous Systems”
Speaker: Prof. Marco Levorato (with Yoshitomo Matsubara), University of California, USA
Abstract
The autonomous operations of Mobile Autonomous Systems (MAS) require the execution of continuous streams of
heavy-duty mission-critical computing tasks. These tasks often take the form of complex Deep Neural Network (DNN)
models applied to information-rich signals such as image and lidar data. Clearly, such strenuous effort may exceed the
capabilities and resources (e.g., computing power and energy) of most UAVs. The research community mostly relied
on two distinct approaches to address this issue: model simplification and edge computing. The former may lead to
performance degradation, while the performance of the latter suffer from the erratic behavior of wireless channels.
In this tutorial, we will introduce and illustrate some of the most recent trends in making distributed computing
and edge computing for MAS applications reliable. First, we will discuss machine learning-empowered solutions
to control real-time data analysis and inference in complex systems. Our discussion will be based on our open
source tool that enables real-time decision making for computing in this class of difficult systems. Then, we will
discuss Split Deep Neural Networks (DNN) - also known as Split Computing, a recent class of solutions where
DNNs’ architectures and training are modified to facilitate their efficient distributed execution. In the tutorial, we
will illustrate existing technical approaches and tools in relation to split computing, including model designs and
training methods such as supervised compression.

Jeju Olle
“Olle” [Ole] is the Jeju word for a narrow pathway that is connected from the street
to the front gate of a house. Hence, “Olle” is a path that comes out from a secret
room to an open space and a gateway to the world. If the road is connected, it is
linked to the whole island and the rest of the world as well. It has the same sound
as “Would you come?” in Korean, so Jeju’s “Olle” sounds the same as ‘Would
you come to Jeju?’. The first trail route was opened to the public in September,
2007. Since then, the Jeju Olle exploration team has created a combined total
of 200km of walking trails in Jeju island. Currently eleven trail routes have been
opened to walkers and the trail exploration team is still working on new routes.
Seopjikoji
Jutting out at the eastern seashore of Jeju Island, Seopji-Koji is one of the
most scenic views with the bright yellow canola and Seongsan Sunrise
Peak as a backdrop. The pristine beauty of Jeju can be seen in Seopji-koji.
Sinyang Beach, a meadow filled with canola flowers, peacefully grazing Jeju
ponies, a rocky sea cliff, and a towering legendary large rock (Sunbawe) all
combine to make nature s masterpiece. Unlike the other coastal areas of
Jeju, it has red volcanic rock (songi) and strangely-shaped rocks that at low
tide transform this area into a breath-taking stone exhibition gallery.

Travel Information
Manjang Cave
anjang Cave, situated at Donggimnyeong-ri, Gujwa-eup, North Jeju, 30
M
kilometers east of Jeju City, was designated as Natural Monument No. 98 on
March 28, 1970. The 7,416-meter long cave has been officially recognized as the
longest lava tube in the world. The annual temperature inside the cave ranges
from 11℃ to 21℃, thus facilitating a favorable environment throughout the year.
The cave is also academically significant as rare species live in the cave. Created
by spewing lava, “the lava turtle”, “lava pillar”, and “Wing-shaped Wall” look like
the work of the gods. It is considered to be a world class tourist attraction.
Cheonjiyeon Waterfall
The waterfall falls from a precipice with thundering sounds, creating white water
pillars. It has the name Cheonjiyon, meaning ‘the heaven and the earth meet and
create a pond’. At 22 m in height and 12 min width, the waterfall tumbles down to
the pond to produce awe-inspiring scenery. The valley near the waterfall is home to
Elaeocarpus sylvestrisvar, ellipticus, which is Natural Monument No. 163, Psilotum
nudum, Castanopsis cuspidatavar. sieboldii, Xylosma congestum, Camellia and
other subtropical trees. This place is also famous as home to the eel of Anguilla
mauritiana, which is Natural Monument No. 27 and is active primarily at night.
