A. Rationale:

In relation to the celebration of Araw ng Digos, The Digos City Sepaktakraw Club Inc. (DiCSTAC) together
with the Department of Education will be holding the 1st Mayor Josef F. Cagas Sepaktakraw Tournament to
boast the sepak takraw enthusiasts and bring back the passion they have had on the said sport in this post-
pandemic time. As such, with the newly established sports in DSSC (Sepak Takraw team), the sport's
development office supports the representation of the state college name through sports and recreational
activities.
This is in accordance with the CHED Memorandum (CMO) No. 09, series of 2013 states that “the HEI
shall provide opportunities for physical fitness and well-being of students. There shall be the regular conduct of
sports programs supporting school athletes and the whole studentry. Further, all educational institutions shall
undertake regular sports activities throughout the country in cooperation with athletic clubs and other sectors.
The activity will be conducted face to face for a duration of two days. To maintain the safety and health
protocol of the participants in the implementation of the tournament, a limited number of teams will be catered
to in the event by the event organizer. This is to adhere to the regulation of Department of Health Circular No.
2020 – 0130.
B. Objectives:
 Provide opportunities to skilled and talented students
 Provide an opportunity to the College instructor coaches to develop, improve, and implement sepak
takraw programs and activities which will complement the other components of the curriculum.
 Established friendship and camaraderie among other participants;
 Appreciate the importance of the conduct of the training through their participation.
 Select potential athletes that can represent the school from the Regional and National level
 Establish connections to other local organizations
