Gray House

The children in Peter’s road didn’t like ‘Gray House’. It was the oldest
building in their village. Its little windows and old brown door were
always closed. Hundreds of plants grew in the garden and up the walls
around the house. Some younger children were afraid of the building.
‘Does anyone live there?’ They asked very quietly. ‘No,’ said their
parents.

things inside it, drove behind them. Everyone in the village waved and
smiled and came to help. They washed the windows and floors, fixed the
door and painted the walls. Then they moved all the old plants and
planted pretty new flowers outside.
