Gray House
The children in Peter’s road didn’t like ‘Gray House’. It was the oldest
building in their village. Its little windows and old brown door were
always closed. Hundreds of plants grew in the garden and up the walls
around the house. Some younger children were afraid of the building.
‘Does anyone live there?’ They asked very quietly. ‘No,’ said their
parents.

things inside it, drove behind them. Everyone in the village waved and

planted pretty new flowers outside.
‘What a difference!’ everyone said.

People aren’t frightened of Gray House now. They look at it and smile
because it’s everyone’s favourite place.
Peter’s grandfather makes the best cakes in the village. And Peter’s
grandmother grows fantastic vegetables for all her new friends. Everyone
loves them.
