ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 6-32 COMBINATION METER REMOVAL © Remove the upper fairings. (See pp. 5-2) * Disconnect the combination meter coupler ©. © Remove the combination meter mounting nuts @. # Remove the combination meter @ 633 _ ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DISASSEMBLY © Disassemble the combination meter as follows, INSPECTION Measure the continuity between the lead wires in the diagram on the next page using a tester. If there is no continuity, replace the respective parts. NOTE: When performing this test, it is not necessary to remove the combination meter. Test 1 This test will determine if the fuel meter is operating. Remove the fuel tank. (See p. 4-2.) * Disconnect the fuel level gauge coupler. * Connect a jumper wire between the B/W and Y/B lead wires coming from the wire hamess. © Tum the ignition switch on. © The fuel meter's needle should go past the “F” (ull) line. Test 2 This test will determine the accuracy of the fuel meter in the “ {empty) and “F" (full) positions. © Connect @ 103-117-ohm resistor between the Y/B and B/W lead wires. © The fuel meter is operating correetly if the needle moves to of below “E" (empty) when the ignition switch is turned on. '* Replace the 103-117-ohm resistor with a 1-5-ohm resistor. ‘© The fuel meter is operating correctly if the needle moves to or above “F* (full) when the ignition switch is turned on, If either test detects a malfunctioning fuel meter, replace it. FUEL LEVEL GAUGE INSPECTION ‘# Remove the fuel level gauge. (See p. 4-4.) © Measure the resistance at each fuel level gauge float posi- tion « Ifthe resistance is incorrect, replace the fuel level gauge with anew one, ‘ The relation between the position of the fuel gauge sending unit float and the resistance is shown in the following table. If the speed sensor and coupler connections are OK, replace the combination meter with a new one. SPEED SENSOR INSPECTION ‘¢ Remove the upper fairings. (See pp. 5:2.) ‘* Disconnect the speed sensor coupler. ‘© Remove the speed sensor ©. '* Connect @ 12 V battery (between O/R and BNW), 10 k2 resistor (Between O/R and P) and pocket tester (tester @ probe to O/R and tester © probe to P) as shown. Tester knob indication: Voltage (==) ‘* Move a screwdriver back and forth across the pick-up sur- face of the speed sensor. The voltage readings should cycle as follows (0 V > 12 V or 12 V0 V). Ifthe voltage reading does not change, replace the speed sensor with a new one. NOTE: While testing, the highest voltage reading should be the same as the battery voltage (12 V). Speed Sensor 637 _ ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR INSPECTION ‘* Remove the signal generator cover. (See p. 3D-2.) # Disconnect the oll pressure Green/Yellow lead wire from the oil pressure switch ‘® Tum the ignition switch to the “ON” position. ‘© Check if the oil pressure indicator lights up when grounding the Green/Yellow lead wire. If the oil pressure indicator does not light up, check the cou- plers. If all of the connections ate OK, replace the oil pressure indicator with new one. After checking the oil pressure indicator light, install the sig- nal generator cover. (See p. 30-3.) mez Co
