Forms of numbers - Rational and Irrational numbers, real numbers, recurring decimals.
Ordering Numbers, Transformation between different forms of numbers Recognizing and classifying numbers in
different number systems, including recurring decimals Four number operations (addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division) with integers, decimals and fractions.
Radicals/Surds - Four number operations, Expansion, Rationalization
Sets – Basic vocabulary (element, subset, null set etc), performing operations, properties of sets (commutative,
associative, distributive).
Venn diagrams – Drawing and interpreting venn diagrams, using venn diagrams to solve problems in real life
contexts.
Number lines - Expressing the solution set of a linear inequality on the number line (as well as set notation).
Number System
Units of measurement – Converting different units of measurement and currencies.
Absolute value, Standard and Scientific notation.
Prime numbers and factors, including greatest common divisor and least common multiple Representing a number
as the product of its prime factors
Number sequences – Identifying patterns, Predicting the next term in a number sequence ( linear, quadratic,
triangular, fibonacci), finding, justifying or proving general rules for sequences.
Fractional and Integral exponents – using the rules of indices to simplify numerical expressions involving radicals and
exponents, evaluating numbers with integer exponents.
Ratio - dividing a quantity in a given ratio Application based problems on ratio and proportion
Percentage - Calculating change, Application based problems
Factorization of linear and quadratic expressions. Using Substitution to evaluate expressions
Solving equations involving algebraic fractions.
Equations (linear, quadratic, simultaneous) – solving algebraically and graphically.
Inequalities – Solving and graphing linear inequalities.
Functions - Introduction, Difference between Relation and Function, Determining the domain and the range,
Algebra
Determining the range, given the domain The linear function f(x) = mx + c, its graph, gradient and y-intercept The
quadratic function f(x) = a(x – h)^2 + k
Transformations - Translating, Reflecting and Dilating functions *Dilation - only for quadratic functions Describing
transformed linear and quadratic functions Graphing different types of functions and understanding their
characteristics.

Triangle properties : Solving problems involving triangles by using Pythagoras’ theorem and its converse, properties
of similar triangles, properties of congruent triangles
Circle Geometry: Using circle theorems to find - lengths of chords - measure of angles and arcs - perimeter and area

Introduction to basic trigonometric identities - proving and simplifying using the identities, solve equations where 0°
≤ ɵ ≤ 360°
Trigonometric ratios in right-angled triangles : - Relating angles and sides of right-angled triangles using sine, cosine
and tangent - Solving problems in right-angled triangles using trigonometric ratios
Geometry & Angle properties - Solving problems using the properties of: - angles in different figures or positions - acute, right
Trigonometry and obtuse angles in triangles - angles in intersecting and parallel lines - angles in regular and irregular polygons
Perimeter/area/volume: - Finding the perimeter (circumference), area and volume of regular and irregular two-
