Control Valve Calibration (SIEMENS Positioner)

 Take the work permit.


 Ask the area operator to properly isolate the control valve from the system
and open the drain valves before and after the control valve.
 Open the front cover of the positioner to access the positioner keys.
 Press the mode key for more than 5 s. This takes you into
Configuration mode and following display will appear:
 Switch to the following display with the mode key and the following
display will appears.

 Start initialization by pressing the key for more than 5 s and the
following display will appears.

 During the initialization process” RUN1” to” RUN5” appear one after the
other.
 It will take almost 15 minutes to complete the initialization process
depending upon actuator.
 When initialization completes the following display appears.
 Then press the mode key briefly, the following display appears.
 To exit Configuration mode press the mode key for more than 5 s. After
about 5 s, the software version is displayed. When mode key is released
the, the unit is in manual mode.
 Then press the mode key briefly to go into auto mode.
 Then give the positioner remote command of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and
100% from DCS and check its position feedback on DCS.
 Then close the front cover of the positioner.
 Ask the operator to close the drain valves and take the control valve back
in service.
 Observe the control valve response in auto mode for 2, 3 minutes.
