1.0 SCOPE
1.1 The scope of this procedure is to describe the methods for application of portland
cement plastering on all section shown and described or required as per
Architectural plan, drawings and finishing schedules.
2.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this Method statement is to establish guidelines addressing all the
requirements that might be necessary to assure that cement wall plastering work
activities conform to the architectural design finishing schedule. The purpose is also to
ensure that all works are done in full compliance with applicable safety standards &
requirements.

5.1 The Construction Manager is over all responsible for the implementation of
method statement and ensures that his team of Engineers and Foremen are aware of this
method statement and the all resources i.e. human, material and equipment’s are
available to carry out the work as planned and without any delay.

5.2 The Site Engineer is responsible to ensure that all plaster works are carried out
according to the specifications and drawings. And to co-ordinate with the surveyor
and plan the survey works in advance as per the work sequence.
5.3 Foreman to carry out the work and the proper distribution of all the available
resources in co-ordination with the site engineer on a daily basis.
5.4 The Surveyor is responsible for the verification of the vertical and horizontal
alignment of wall plastering includes level and locations of accessories. And
coordinate with the Site engineer/ foreman on checking of elevations.
5.5 The QA/QC Dept. is responsible to ensure work has been done as per the approved
method statement, specification and drawings; Inspection are done as per Inspection
and Test Plan and offer works for Consultant inspection and approval.
5.6 The Safety Engineer is responsible to ensure that all safety precautions are in-
place and that all personnel on site are using the required Personal Protective
equipment. And also ensure all relevant permissions are available for the works.
6.0 EQUIPMENTS
6.1 Depending on the size of the area, site condition and accessibility, some if not all

7.1 All PPEs, safety equipment shall be worn by the personnel at all times. Warning
devices and/ or flagman shall be deployed for vehicles & equipment.
7.2 If in case of any emergency, safety officer will be administered the emergency
arrangements as per the system, stop the work and reporting to Assembly Point
etc.
7.3 Safety signs, warning lights and tower lights (if working during nighttime) and
entry attendant will be provided during activities.
7.4 Fire precautions will be maintained in the site as per approved safety procedure.
7.5 Communication will be carried out in accordance with safety procedures and
reporting all issues at site.
7.6 The worksite shall be maintained in a clean and tidy condition directed as per the
Housekeeping (HSE) procedure.
8.0 PROCEDURE
8.1 Preparation
8.1.1 Built and approved mock-up for at least 10.00 m² demonstrating the
aesthetic effects and setting quality standards for materials and
execution.
8.1.2 Substrates had been examined with the applicator present and including
hollow-metal frames, cast-in anchors and structural framing for
compliance with requirements and other conditions affecting performance
for plastering.
8.1.3 Submitted and approved mix design for each type of plaster as per
project specifications.
8.1.4 Ensure that all plaster materials including accessories and method
statement are approved.

8.1.6 Obtain clearance from MEP for all the MEP openings and built-in items
including clearance from applicator for the acceptance of substrates
condition.
8.1.7 Prepare and obtain inspection and approval for the surface preparation
from consultant prior to proceed for plaster application.
8.2.3 Acoustical Sealant, where required, joints will be sealed between edges of
plaster work and abutting construction with acoustical sealant.
8.2.5 Reinforcement for external corners, corner beads, casing beads and
control joints will be installed according to locations indicated on the
drawings.
8.3.1 Finished plaster surface in general shall comply with ASTM C-926.
Do not deviate more than ± 6 mm in 3 m from a true plane in
finished surfaces, as measured by a 3-m straightedge placed on
surface.
Finished plaster should be flushed with metal frames and other built-
in metal items or accessories that act as a plaster ground unless
otherwise indicated. Where casing bead does not terminate plaster
at metal frame, cut base coat free from metal frame before plaster
sets and groove finish coat at junctures with metal.

8.3.2 Bonding compound will be applied on unit masonry and concrete plaster
bases.
8.3.3 For walls: Base coat mixes for use over metal lath. Scratch and brown
coats for three-coat plasterwork, on masonry, on concrete; 19mm
thickness.
8.3.4 For Ceilings: Base Coat Mix for use over metal lath. Scratch and brown
coats for three-coat plaster work; 13mm thick 19mm thick on concrete.
8.3.5 For Walls; Base Coat Mix: Scratch coat for two-coat plasterwork, 10mm
thick on concrete masonry, 6 mm thick on concrete.
8.3.6 For Ceilings; Base Coat Mix: Scratch coat for two-coat plasterwork, 6 mm
thick on concrete.
8.3.8 For Concealed Exterior Plasterwork: Finish coat will be omitted if plaster
application will be used as a base for adhered finishes.
Repair or replace plasterwork with cracks, dents, blisters, buckles, crazing and
check cracking, dry outs, efflorescence, sweat outs, and similar defects and where
bond to substrate has failed.

Quality control inspector shall conduct daily monitoring and inspection to ensure that the
plastering work activities are progressing in accordance with the approved plan and
specifications.
