1. Can you read the title of my presentation? Off course you can!

Most of you, might be

wondering about this term. Well, for those who have already background knowledge
about music, they probably already knew this concept. But for those hindi forte o walang
idea about this, don’t worry because along with my discussion, you’ll realized that it’s
not that complicated to learn as its name. You just have to listen attentively to understand
this concept. By the way, before anything else, allow me to introduce myself, I am Grace
Ann Aquino, the 3rd to the last reporter of Group 2 and we are still under Melody. At this
juncture, I will be tackling the Major Scale, specifically the grand staff. I hope you can
get new learnings from my topic. Btw, I am widely open po for correction kung may
mabanggit man akong wrong info, since hindi ko talaga gamay ang Music field, if you
have questions, clarifications, and reactions about my topic, it will be all address and
entertained after my discussion. So, allow me to start my presentation.

2. Before we could jump into the Grand Staff itself, let us first learn what Staff means. Sa
pagsulat ng tula, mayroong tinatawag na taludtod at saknong, or in English, Lines and
Stanza. Sa music naman, meron tayong tinatawag na Staff. The music staff (or music
stave as it is also called) is the series of 5 lines and 4 spaces that music is written down
on. Kung nakakita or nakahawak na kayo ng Music Note Sheet, or yung lalagyan ng nota,
Ang tawag po sa isang set ng 5 lines with 4 spaces na nilalagyan ng notes ay Staff or
Stave. So, Ayan, I hope you understood the 1st concept since Madali lang siya.

3. Proceeding, The Grand Staff (also known as the Grand Stave) is basically just
2 staves joined together, with an invisible line in between them! Along with my
discussion, I will further elaborate the said invisible line in between them. Just focus first
on this slide. So, The top stave uses the Treble Clef ( G-clef) to identify notes and the
bottom stave uses the Bass Clef (F clef).

4. So, this is what the grand staff look like in an actual music note sheet. As you can see, A
set of staff compose of 5 lines and 4 spaces. And one grand staff consists of 2 staff
together. Be reminded din na gumagamit or ginagamitan natin ng bracket or brace para
icount ang isang Grand Staff. So, at this example, we have 4 staves, but it separated with
2 braces kaya meron tayong 2 Grand Staff. Are we clear? So, I hope it’s clear.

5. Moving on with the Lines on the G clef. This is how we read notes. Sa lines ng G clef.
Yung sa may upper part ng Grand staff. Since we have 5 lines, mayroon ding 5 tones.
These are E,G,B,D,F . Pero in order for you to easily remember it, pwede ninyo siyang
gamitan ng Mnemonics. Just like this. Every, Good, Boy, Does, Fine. EGBDF. As long
as you know the order of letters and to begin on E, you can always work out a note by
starting from the bottom line and working through the sequence of letters. Again, for the
lines on the G clef, we have, EGBDF/Every Good Boy Does Fine.

6. While, the lines naman for F-Clef are G,B,D, F, A or Good Boy Do Fine Always. Ganyan
palagi yung sequence. Hindi pwedeng mashuffle yang mga letters.

7. So, as you can see, ganyan ang itsura ng sequence ng mga lines both for G and F clef.
EGBDF, and GBDFA. Okay, we are done with the lines. I assume na nakuha niyo, let’s
now proceed with the spaces.

8. On the spaces for G clef, Madali lang siya tandaan kasi it spells as FACE. F A C E.

9. While, on the Spaces for F clef naman is ACEG or All, Cows, Eat , Grass.

10.And here’s what its look like. Sa Grand Staff Spaces. FACE and ACEG.

11.To repeat, when it comes sa Lines ng G Clef, we have the EGBDF,

12. sa Spaces naman niya is, FACE.

13.Then sa lines naman ng F clef, we have the GBDFA,

14.and sa spaces niya, we have ACEG. So, I hope we are clear. Just remember their
sequence guys and wag kayo papalito.

15.Now, what if we joined them all together in one grand staff. So ganito ang itsura niya. So
ayan, The red letters are the Lines and the Other color is on the spaces. Sa G Clef, ang
mga nasa lines are EGBDF, and then sa spaces niya, merong FACE. While sa baba, sa
may F clef, GBDFA ang nasa lines then ACEG ang nasa spaces. Pansin ninyo, Hanggang
G lang ang ginamit niyang letters. Sa music po, hanggng G lang talaga ang ginagamit sa
notes sa alphabets. Kapag nakarating na sa G yung notes, babalik ulit siya ng A. and then
tignan niyo, ngayong pinag combine na natin both for lines and spaces, naka pattern na
siya. Nag start sa E yung sa G-Clef, Then F, G. So since hanggang G lang tayo, babalik
ulit siya sa A, then B, C, D, E, F. Same as with F clef. Nagsimula naman siya sa G, tas
bumalik ng A to G tas A nanaman sa bandang taas. But, remember na hindi diyan nag
tatapos yung notes.
16.What if nakakita kayo sa Music Note Sheet ng nota na nasa pinaka taas at baba just like
this? Ano kayang letter ang ilalagay diyan or anong note kaya ang tamang ilagay? Okay,
so sa may bandang taas, since pataas siya, it means, move forward din ang ilalagay na
alphabet doon. Then sa may bandang baba naman, since pababa, vice versa, pababa rin
yung count ng letter.

17.So therefore, Sa may G-Clef sa may bandang F, since pataas siya, G ang ilalagay natin
since G ang kasunod ng letter F. Same as with F -Clef. A ang last na note so, B ang next
na note niya. While dun naman sa other side, Since E ang last note sa G -clef, paatras
tayo . magiging D siya. And sa F clef naman is F since G ang last na note. So ayan, I
hope na maliwanag pa sainyo yung mga dinidiscuss ko.

18.Moving on with the Middle C or yung tinatawag na Invisible line.  Although it is made
up of two staves of five lines, the Grand Staff actually has 11 lines. Probably, you have
heard the Middle C. Many people assume this is the note in the middle of the piano –pero
naka depende yan sa keyboard or piano na meron ka. Basta tandan niyo, ang Middle C is
the closest C to the middle of the piano, but Middle C is also the note in the middle of
the Grand Staff. Try to look at this illustration. It shows the notes on the lines
including the invisible middle line yun yung naka mark ng red line. Walatala ng line sa
gitna. Inaassuem lang nil ana may line diyan since matik na naka place yung middle C
diyan.

19.And ayan naman yung sa spaces.

20.So moving on to the position of the notes. So as you can see, as the notes go up, its pitch
is getting higher also. Vice versa, if kung nasa baba yung note, ibig sabihin mababa rin
yung pitch nung note.

21.So ayan, to show you the overall Grand staff, look at this notes on a piano. Nagsimula
siya sa C hanggang G. Simultaneous lang siya. And if you will look and observe
carefully, marerealized mong naka pattern lang pala yung mga alphabet both for lines
and spaces. For instance dito tayo sa may Gclef. Ano na kasi yung mga alphabet natin
don? Okay so we have, EGBDF for lines then FACE sa Spaces. Let’s find out if nasan
sila sa illustration na ito. (discuss the piano).

Same as with the Fclef. Anon a kasi yung mga pattern doon? We have GBDFA and
ACEG. Let’s find out if tama. (Discuss the piano)

By the way, kung napansin niyo, ang ginamit ko lang na note for my presentation is yung
symbol ng whole note. Remember, we have different kinds of notes. Ginamit ko lang ang
whole note para mas malinaw ko lang na maipresent sainyo yung mga illustrations. But if
you will look into different kinds of note sheet, it is the combinations of whole, half,
quarter, eightn, and sixteenth note.

22.Just like this. Twinkle twinkle little star. Sa pagbabasa ng nota, whatever note ang
gamitin niya, basta tignan niyo lang kung saang space and line siya nakatapat for you to
identify yung correct melody and note ng isang song. And dapat kabisado niyo rin yung
mga letter pattern para alam niyo yung sequence. Para mas maging malinaw, watch this
short clip para rin mapakinggan niyo yung mga tones nila..

24.At last! My presentation is finally done. Hopefully, Grand staff is finally clear sainyo.
the virtual floor is now finally open for your corrections, clarifications and questions if
you have any. Above all,. Thank you so much po for listening! Have a great day ahead!
