and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or
facilitator in helping the learners meet the standards set
by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal,
social, and economic constraints in schooling.

8
What I Need to Know

This module was designed and written with you in

mind. It is here to help you master the skills in
demonstrating that force can make an object move or
not moving objects to slow down, speed up or change
direction. The scope of this module permits it to be used in
many different learning situations. The language used
recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of pupils. The
lessons are arranged to follow the standard sequence of
the course. But the order in which you read them can be
changed to correspond with the textbook you are now
using.

The module is about:

• Lesson 1: Force Makes Objects Move.
After going through this module, you are expected
to:
1. identify the effects of forces to an object;
2. demonstrate the effects of forces to an object; and
3. value the effects of forces to an object in performing
various activities to observe safety.

9
What I Know

Draw a heart ( ) if the statement is correct or a

circle ( ) if it is wrong. Do it on a separate sheet of
paper.
1. When the objects move toward you that is because
force makes it.
2. Things can be moved by force in only one direction.
3. An object will not move toward you when pulled.
4. An object can change direction but it may also slow
down depending on the amount of force.
5. When you pull the cart, it moves toward you.

Lesson

1 Force Makes Objects Move

We see objects being pushed or pulled to make

them move. A force is a push or a pull. A push is when
things move away from us while a pull is when things are
moved toward us.

Force can also change the direction of a moving

object and can make it go faster, slower, or stop from
moving (Abracia, 2014).

10
What’s In

Identify the action shown in each picture. Write push,

pull, thrown, drop or roll. Write your answers on a separate
sheet of paper.

12
What’s New

Look at the pictures below and answer the questions

that follow.

What can you see in the pictures? In picture A, is the

ball moving or not moving? In picture B, what happened
to the ball? If you were the child, do you think the ball will
speed up or slow down after you kicked it? Will it move in
one direction?

a. b.

13
What is It
Force can do a lot of things on objects around us.
Force is applied to make things move.
Below are some examples that force can do to
objects:
Force can make an object move. It can move
forward or backward. An object moves if it changes its
place or location (Abracia,2014).

Figure 1 Figure 2
Force can make objects to slow down or stop. Some
heavy objects like grocery carts with heavy loads move
slowly or stop because of their weight while they move
faster if they are light objects (Joaban,2019).

14
Force can change the speed of a moving object.
As explained by Oriondo-Legaspi (2010), when a
biker starts to pedal, movement of his bike will speed up
based on the force he will apply. Thus, the greater the
force applied; the greater the speed of the bike.

a. b.

Force can change the direction.

According to Oriondo-Legaspi (2010), the stronger
the force applied on an object, the faster the object
moves and changes its direction.

15
What’s More

Activity 1.Choose the statement that describes the

movement shown in each picture. Write your answers on
a separate sheet of paper.

17
Activity 2. Write True if the statement is correct or False if
it is NOT. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.
1. Force causes change in direction or position of a
moving object.
2. An object moves faster or speed up when more
force is applied.
3. Force results in different kinds of movements.
4. Force is used in every activity that we do.
5. Force cannot change the direction of an object.

Activity 3. Draw happy face ( ) if the statement is

correct or sad face ( ) if it is NOT. Do it on a separate
sheet of paper.
1. Force cannot make an object or materials move to
one place or another.
2. A force can make the objects change in direction.
3. It takes more force to make an object moves faster.
4. Object can move faster when less force is applied.
5. Force can make things to move or stop.

What I Have Learned

Complete the following sentences. Choose your

answer inside the box. Write your answers on a separate
sheet of paper.
