OralCom2 - Google Drive

The document discusses different models of communication including linear, transactional, and interactive models. It provides examples of each model and their key features. Linear communication is one-way without feedback, while transactional involves an exchange of messages between sender and receiver. The interactive model incorporates feedback to allow interpretations. Activities are included to apply and assess understanding of the different communication models.

EXPLORE
1. Linear Communication is considered a one-way process where the sender is the
only source of the message and the receiver doesn’t give feedback or response.
On the other hand, Transactional Communication is the exchange of messages
between the sender and the receiver where each takes turns to send or receive
messages.

2. The process of communication that occurred in Situation 1 is Linear

communication. It is considered Linear communication because the sender is the
only source of message and it lacks one essential element which is the feedback.
Meanwhile, in Situation 2, it is considered as Transactional communication
because both the sender and receiver exchange messages. The sender sends a
message while the receiver gives feedback.

3. The linear communication model is a one-way interaction where feedback is not

present. Linear is the primary communication model, whereas the transactional
model is formed based on the linear model. The sender communicates with the
receiver without receiving feedback.
(Continuation of Number 3) In the interactional model, meaning is achieved
through the feedback of a sender and a receiver. Transactional model of
communication is the exchange of messages between sender and receiver where
each takes turns to send or receive messages.

Activity 4: LET’S REFLECT

I thought the Oral Communication lesson would be somehow complicated and

hard to understand. But along the way answering the activities, I find it fun and
interesting.

I learned that there are two types of communication processes and how they
differ from each other. I also learned the different types of models of communication
including Linear Communication Model, Transactional Communication Model, and
Interactive Model.

ASSESS WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED

1. Transactional
-It possesses 5 elements of communication. It is considered as Transactional
communication because both the sender and receiver exchange messages. They
exchange messages which makes it transactional.
2. Linear
-It is considered Linear communication because the sender is the only source of
message and it lacks one essential element which is the feedback.
3. Transactional
- It is considered as Transactional communication because both the sender and
receiver exchange messages. The sender sends a message while the receiver gives
feedback.
4. Interactive
-There’s an active participation from both the sender and receiver because they
did video calling. The receiver’s feedback allows reactions to be conveyed since
they see each other and communicate through facial expressions.
5. Linear
-The linear communication model is a one-way interaction where feedback is not
present. The sender communicates with the receiver without receiving feedback.
