• Equipped only with communication units
• Range of addresses: 0, 1
▪ Composite Racks, max. one Rack per RTU
• rack with communication units and I/O modules
• Range of addresses: 1 … 7
▪ Input / Output Racks, max. seven racks per RTU
• equipped only with I/O modules, without CMUs
• Range of addresses: 1 … 7
▪ If a rack contains at least one CMU, the name of the rack
is “560xxx…A (see chapter “Bus Connection Units”):

Racks, Power Supply Supervision
▪ The status of the power supply unit is available on the contacts
X11/X12.

Power
Supervision

▪ The status of a redundant pair of power supply units (PSF1/2) is

available on X13/X14/X15.
▪ X13 / X14 is to be used within an alarm-loop.
▪ X15 may be connected to a binary input board.
▪ A redundant pair of power supply units is supervised by the
RTU-system only, if a Communication Unit and a 560BCU04/05
is present in the rack. (System-event #059)

Racks, Serial Bus Termination
▪ On the last rack of a bus segment, the I/O-Bus (SPB) has
to be terminated (R = 1 kΩ ).
▪ After delivery, this resistor is connected.
▪ Termination on Rack 1 is done by the CMU.

Rack #1 The termination on the racks 1 … (n-1)

within a bus segment has to be

removed.

Rack #2

To remove the termination:
interrupt the electrical connection of
the resistor by drilling a hole on
Rack #3 position X4 on the back plane.

Racks, Potential Isolation
▪ After delivery, the potential isolation is not active, i.e.
GND (=0V) and PE (= process earth) are connected.

To disconnect GND from PE (for

potential isolation), drill a hole on
position X5 on the back plane.

▪ Rules for configuration of communication protocols on
the serial interfaces CPA/CPB:

▪ If one of the two interfaces CPA or CPB is configured for the

serial peripheral bus (SPB), the other interface is configured
automatically also as SPB

▪ All UART-character based protocols can be mixed on CPA/CPB

▪ Non-UART character based protocols cannot be mixed:

• Only one type of Non-UART character based protocol types can
be configured on both interfaces at the same time

▪ Synchronous communication protocols cannot be configured

Communication Units, Migration of CPUs
▪ There is a migration facility in RTUtil500:
Release 10: 560SLI02 and 560ETH0x no more
supported
Release 11: 560CMU04 no more supported
Release 12: Replace 560CMU05 by 560CMR02, replace
560CMU02 by 560CMR01

A CMU can be migrated to Firmware Release 10/11 only

one time. But the step back to an older release is always
possible.

Number of Data Points
▪ The number of process data points is calculated as
follows:
▪ Number of directly connected data points on I/O modules
▪ Number of ‘virtual data points’ as result of a ‘logic function’ or a
‘PLC function’
▪ Number of data points of subordinated devices

▪ The total number of data points is displayed by RTUtil
