Planning the Project Week 5 Discussion

Learning from the Reading

The process of promoting fruitful interactions with those who have the most sway

over your work is known as stakeholder management. To keep each person "on board," it can

be important to communicate with them in the right way. It is the handling process of

stakeholders' demands and expectations. It entails recognizing, evaluating, and methodically

planning how to interrelate with stakeholders. For building and maintaining strong

stakeholder relationships, product managers must first accurately determine their interested

parties. Additionally, PMs have to be fully aware of the particular needs and perspectives of

their relevant parties. (Watt, 2014)

Response to the Question

The project's stakeholders may change as it progresses because of the professional

and legal expertise required. The government, sponsors, and project managers are the primary

stakeholders. The following are potential changes:

The Sponsors

Because they are homeowners, the initial sponsors are specific. Their idea to

collaborate with the government and construct a home for immigrants who are homeless and

come from war-torn countries, among other reasons, makes them the ultimate decision-

makers in this situation. The sponsorship opportunity is not restricted, though, and once the

program is up and running, new sponsors may join. These sponsors may offer fresh

suggestions for improving service delivery, leading to previously unheard-of changes in the

way the program is run. A humanitarian program typically isn't constrained by sponsorship

because there are so many people willing to invest their money in transforming lives. Given

the fact that the number of refugees grows daily as a result of numerous socioeconomic and
3

political factors, it is a possibility that cannot be discounted. Giving sponsors room to

contribute to such programs is humane enough because working together to aid this

vulnerable population is always a great course for humanity. (Project Management Institute,

2017)

The Government

A country's business and non-business activities are controlled by the government,

which also ensures that the law is upheld. A high degree of sensitivity is required because the

foundation of this program is based on a humanitarian approach. Because of this, the

registration of the program is only in its initial stages; however, future changes will also

involve a site inspection. It will be necessary to involve the construction inspection

department, and after that, it will be necessary to involve the government department in

charge of overseeing how refugees are treated in refugee homes. (Project Management

Institute, 2017)

The Project Managers

To make the program's implementation a reality, the project managers collaborate

with the sponsors, the government, and other parties. Changes in this situation are inevitable

because the managers have assigned their employees to different parts of the construction and

non-construction elements. A program, however, typically runs with corrections made along

the way that occasionally call for urgent professional changes. The project managers may

decide to outsource the expertise when, for instance, legal issues arise that call for a lawyer

with knowledge of a particular area of law. In actuality, the changes are registered because

the program's implementation requires a new employee.

Project stakeholders are all the people and organizations that a project development

may be interested in. They may include sponsors, business associates, authorities,
4

consultants, distributors, importers, or clients. Stakeholders might alter as a project is

developed. The primary causes of that are modifications made to the original plan or

demoralizing project progress. (Moraveck, 2013)

Additionally, sponsors might switch throughout a project. The project may be divided

into stages in some circumstances, such as pharmaceutical research. The success of the

previous stage is necessary for the project to move forward. The budget is allocated per stage

in such a case. Sponsors are therefore likely to stop providing financial support if the

pharmaceutical studies show discouraging results during the testing in the early stages,

meaning that overall project actions would remain on standby until a new sponsor is found.

Then, the interests or influence of the stakeholders could drive changes to the initial project

or even decide whether the project needs to be terminated early. (Moraveck, 2013)
