I. OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARD: The learner listens critically to various text types & expresses ideas accurately in
both oral & written forms.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner is able to demonstrate confidence in the use of language to meet
every day needs & reads independently & gets relevant information from various text types.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCY: Identify the structure, purpose and language features of different text types, e.g.
narrative, information report, procedure, argument
D. Objectives:
At the end of the 50 minutes lesson, the learners should be able to:

1. Write sentences using words with prefixes and suffixes


2. Create poem using words with prefixes and suffixes
3. Show eagerness in doing the activities

II. CONTENT:
A. TOPIC: Identifying the Meaning of Unfamiliar Words through Structural Analysis
B. REFERENCES: ADM Module in English 4, PIVOT
C. MATERIALS: PowerPoint presentation, Laptop, TV

III. PROCEDURE:
1. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY:
A. ENERGIZER: Let us sing the song entitled “Now It’s Time for English!”

2. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
A. REVIEW:
Tell the word that describes each picture.
Clue: It has prefix or suffix.

3. MOTIVATION:
Poem: All things Bright and Beautiful

4. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON:


Beautiful wonderful glowing running
5. ANALYSIS:
1. What are the prefixes and suffixes used in the poem?
2. Can you give the meaning of these words?

6.APPLICATION:

Directions: Write sentences using the following words.


1. Dancer
2. Unhappy
3. Replay
4. Improper
5. Colorful

7.ABSTRACTION:
What is the importance of affixes?

IV. ASSESSMENT:
Directions: Write a 2-stanza poem about your teacher/s. Use words with prefixes and suffixes
