Research Design.
We choose experimental research design due to the fact that this alugbati
(Basella Rubra) is essential as whitening soap.
Basella rubra or also known as Alugbati or Malabar Spinach is famous in Southeast Asia including the
Philippines. People are not paying more attention to this plant. Because of its appearance, people considered it as
grass, it has no value and medical benefits. But they are wrong, because alugbati plants are not only suitable for
side dishes. It is also used for skin moisturizers and other medical uses, especially in making it as a soap. It is a
succulent, branched, smooth, twining herbaceous vine and a several meters in length. Its stems are purplish or
green, leaves are fleshy, ovate or heart shaped. It belongs to the spinach family, and it can help treat many
ailments because it contains calories, minerals, vitamins, protein, and water. Alugbati is also good for skin
treatments for acne, because it is a reliable source of vitamins and minerals including calcium, iron, laxatives,
vitamins A, B and C in repairing damaged skins, and antioxidants that will help remove free radicals from the
body which causes skin problems and premature aging. It can also help lighten up dark skin by minimizing any
tint from the skin with the help of Vitamin K and folates. According to (Kumar et al., 2013) It has potential
antibacterial and wound healing properties which is used to cleanse wounds and cuts and is anti-inflammatory,
which makes it a cooling effect when applied to burns and scalds. According to the DrHealthBenefits.com (Dr.
Heben, 2022) that there a so many benefits of basella rubra or also known as Alugbati plant, that can help us in
so many problems like acne issues, minimizing skin damage, hair issues, and a variety of other problems. This
basella alba plant is immensely helpful because of its natural minerals (Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese,
Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, and Zinc). And Because of its Health benefits, some researchers use it as a Skin
Moisturizer (Soco, 2017) their study says that Alugbati is a medication that helps to accelerate bowel motions.
When cooked, alugbati is slimy and sticky, similar to okra. Alugbati is thicker and has juicier leaves than other
types of spinach. When combined into food, it has a stronger taste. It has a distinctive flavor that is improved
when cooked with chile and a bit of soy sauce, and its crispy leaves are the finest side dish for Filipinos. And,
this slimy, sticky vegetable is not only a tasty side dish, but it is also good for our health. Because its kilocalorie
content is just approximately 10, a cup of fried alugbati leaves has less than 0.5-gram fat. It has a high amount of
soluble fiber, which makes you feel full and so aids weight loss. A cup of its leaves provides 510 vitamins A,
which help the body's white blood cells fight infections and viruses. It also offers us great vision, lustrous hair,
smooth skin, and strong bones since it contains 99 percent calcium. When you have muscle cramps, weakness, or
an irregular heartbeat, a cup of alugbati can help relieve the discomfort because it contains 113 mg of potassium,
which helps to regulate blood pressure. It is utilized to help with muscle and bone contractions as well as
digestion. Because alugbati contains 50 mcg of folic acid, a water-soluble vitamin B that helps prevent anemia,
some birth abnormalities like bifida affecting the spinal column, and delayed neonatal growth when newborns
have less food intake from their mothers' milk, even nursing moms would benefit. The newborns build new cells,
heart health, and cancer prevention readily thanks to their mother's milk. For women, an additional 400 mcg is
required before pregnancy and during nursing. According to Haneefa (2012), this study was chosen to assess its
scientific validity. In the present study aqueous extracts of leaves of Basella alba were formulated as a gel and
investigated for its physicochemical as well as for its burn wound healing activity. Aqueous extracts of dried
leaves of Basella alba were subjected to preliminary phytochemical evaluation and wound healing activity
studies that can help treat wounds, burns and scalds. It was concluded that Basella alba water extract showed a
significant improvement in burn wound shrinkage and thus is a promising candidate for burn wound healing.
Therefore (Haneefa, 2012) will demonstrate that our study will be safely applied to each respondent's skin
without any signs or symptoms of allergy and damage and used successfully in the future. Based on the
following research shown above, Basella rubra has many benefits when it comes to the health solutions our
community needs. However, we found some differences between our study and previous studies, which make our
study even more unique. First, based on (Soco, 2017) Basella rubra can be used as moisturizer while our study
focuses on making Basella rubra as a hand wash soap. In addition, (Haneefa et. al ,2012) proved that Basella
rubra can be used as a gel by carefully removing foreign matter, dirt, and residue from the leaves, then washing
and drying in the shade. It was then powdered and used for extraction while our study can be applied as a hand
wash soap by following the process of making soap from raw ingredients to final form by Bardey, C. (1999)
Making Soaps and Scents (edition 1 ed., Vol. 1.) Black Dog and Leventhal Publishers Inc. which involves the
following steps: Heating, which composes of two mixtures that is put together, Saponification that the chemical
reaction between the oil, lyre and water, Molding, Sitting, Curing, and aging is the process in which a batch of
soap dries and cures over the period of weeks. In conclusion, Our Research uses medicinal plants to improve
your soap, as they add color, exfoliate, or create a calming fragrance and cruelty free. Some plants such as
Basella rubra that belongs to family Basellaceae can soothe irritation, while others have antiseptic properties like
the properties and benefits of Basella rubra that can heal burns scalds, skin damage and moisturizes dry skin. We
live in a time when most of us are finding the perfect solution to our hygiene problems and health. That is why
we have chosen to develop this topic (Alugbati (Basella rubra) as an Alternative Hand wash Soap) to help
everyone start a new beginning with the help of this hand wash soap. According to (Perv, 2022), Consumers are
thinking more consciously about the production process and origin of the products they’re shopping for. Making
informed purchasing decisions based on how your chosen favorite items are made is (or should be) an important
factor in how we shop for ourselves and our loved ones. Conscious consumption leads every consumer toward
wise environmental practices like being cruelty-free and choosing natural vegan soaps over other types for their
nourishing skin care benefits, and for the fact that they’re kind to animals because this type of solution will help
us not only ourselves but also the animals. Furthermore, using plant-based soaps is better than using chemical
and fat-based soaps because organic soaps contain plant-derived base oils and other vital fats, rather than
“natural” or synthetic ingredients. This means that there are no harmful chemicals found in these soaps that
would normally irritate your skin. Plus, the absence of cruelty toxins means less damage to the environment
during production. Organic soaps including our study named Basella rubra as an Alternative Hand wash soap
contains many benefits, which is kinder to the skin, it is cruelty-free, better for the environment, all natural
ingredients and most of all, their more effective for a safer, better community. REFERENCES: Kumar, E. T. A.
