Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

“Good Morning class” “Good Morning teacher!”

“Class lets us pray first before we start our lesson” (Prayer)

Motivation
So class, I’m about to show you a picture and (Yes teacher)
you shall tell me what can you notice in this
picture.

What can you see in this picture? (There are two boys standing)

(both of them are smiling)

Very good! What else?

Correct, so when what should we use in Taller teacher

comparing their height? Should we use TALLER or It’s tallest miss
TALLEST? which one is correct?

The correct answer for this is taller.

A. Activity

activity. I will group you into three. The first group
who will get the most correct answer will win!

clap!

B. Analysis

Class, Our topic for today’s lesson is Degree of

comparison. Adjectives are describing words
The degree of comparison of an adjective
describes the relational value of one thing with
something in another clause of a sentence.

So when we say adjective what is it again?

Yes, we call the describing words that describes the

subject an adjective.

And adjectives are divided in to three which are

Positive, Comparative and Superlative.
Positive Comparative Superlative

simple form. Adjective is Adjective used

no comparison
is made

Positive degree is used to describe an object, a

person, place or an animal with no comparing
made. (Taller teacher!)

Comparative is used to compare two objects or

things are being compared.

  For adjectives that are just one syllable, add

-er to the end.
It has 2 syllable teacher!
So when we say tall what is it’s the comparative
degree?
We use more teacher
Very good the next one is;
More pleasant teacher
For two-syllable adjectives not ending in -y and for
all three-or-more-syllable adjectives, use the form
“more + adjective.”

So the word is Pleasant how many syllable are there

in this word?

Right then how are we going to change this word the letter Y teacher
‘Pleasant’ to comparative?

We change it to tastier teacher

Very good! So the last rule is;

For two-syllable adjectives ending in -y, change the

-y to -i and add -er.

The word is pretty what letter are we going to Adjective used to compare the quality with many or
change to make this word comparative? all others.
Very good with the word tasty what is the
comparative degree this adjective?

So now let’s proceed to the rule for Superlative

degree.

(Students name) kindly read what is superlative “Eldest, teacher”

based on what is written on the board.

Good now superlative is used to compare an

adjective with many of its own.

If we use ‘elder’ in in the ‘Clarita is the _____ of “the y letter, teacher”

four sister’ What is the correct answer for this
word?

“We change letter y to I and add est teacher so the

word would be Friendliest teacher”
Very good now let’s move on to the last rule; Let’s
remember that adjectives ending in -y should be
changed to the spelling of –est. To form these
superlatives, change the y to an i before adding the -
est ending.

How about the word ‘Friendly’? what is the letter

that we should change?

Very good (students name) what should be the

proper word for superlative Friendly?

Very good here is another examples for degree of

comparison with one syllable adjectives.

Comparative Superlative
Positive Degree Degree

Happy Happier Happiest
Hot Hotter Hottest
Large Larger Largest
Lazy Lazier Laziest

More Most (Pretty, Teacher!)
Beautiful more beautiful most beautiful
Tilted more tilted most titled
Expensive more most (Positive degree, teacher)
expensive expensive
Tangled more tangled most tangled
(Fancier, teacher)

Last we got the irregular adjectives.

Positive Comparative Superlative (Comparative degree teacher)
Good better best
bad worse worst
many more ost
little less least (Busiest teacher)
well better best

C. Abstraction

what is the adjective of the sentence?

Very good so what is the degree of adjective in this

word?
