Genphy1 Performance Task 2

This document outlines an activity called "Let's Play Dampa" for a Physics class. Students will work in pairs to throw a rubber band ("goma") back and forth, measuring the distance traveled along each line between landing points, as well as the straight line distance between the initial and final points. They will then answer guide questions to differentiate between distance and displacement based on the activity. The purpose is to help students understand the concepts of distance and displacement.

ACTIVITY: LET’S PLAY DAMPA (PERFORMANCE TASK)

• By pair activity

Materials:

• chalk
• goma (rubber band)
• meter stick/ruler/measuring tape

Game Challenge:

1. Differentiate distance from displacement.

Game Area:

• wide area
• free from any obstruction
• smooth flooring

Game Background:

• played in pair
• 1 goma per pair
• 6 turns per pair
• point-position of the goma, place where the goma rests, landed area

Game Mechanics

1. Pairs will choose their goma’s initial point and mark it.
2. Members of the pair will dampa their goma alternately, 3 turns for each member.
3. Mark all the landing points of the goma, preferably at the center.
4. After all the turns, connect each point to succeeding point. Starting from the line which connects initial point
and first landing point, the lines will be lines 1 to 6 consecutively.
5. Measure the length of each line (lines 1 to 6).
6. Connect the final point and the initial point with a straight line and measure its length.
7. Record all measurements on the given table.
