Plate 2 - Rectangular Footing - Problems 1 & 2

The document provides two problems for designing rectangular footings. The problems give soil properties, concrete strengths, rebar diameters, and ask to design the footing dimensions and number of reinforcements. Dimensions, soil unit weights, concrete unit weight, material strengths, and allowable bearing capacity are provided.

Plate Title: Rectangular Footing with Axial Loads

Problem 1:

Design a Rectangular Footing having the dimension of B=0.6L(m).

The distance, as shown on the diagram , of the Finished Floor Line (FFL) to the bottom of
the footing is 2500mm. The unit weight for soil below the FFL are 17.5kN/m 3 and 18.5
kN/m3 , respectively.Use fc’ = 20.7 MPa and fy = 415 MPa. The allowable bearing
capacity of the soil is 300kPa and the unit weight for concrete is 23.5 kN/m3.

Design the footing dimension and provide the required number of reinforcements using
25mm diameter bars.
Problem 2:

Design a Rectangular Footing having the dimension of B=0.75L(m).

The allowable bearing
capacity of the soil is 300kPa and the unit weight for concrete is 23.5 kN/m 3.

Design the footing dimension and provide the required number of reinforcements using
25mm diameter bars.
