The 3-Tier Programme, one of the flagship of executive course designed, developed, and offered by IIMA, in the operational form of the following management philosophy: Managerial effectiveness is enhanced if managerial competence and skill development activity is viewed in the perspective of the entireorganization. Organizational growth and development is facilitated if executives are exposed to learning opportunities and experiences that simulate activities and responsibilities of teams in organizations. Process of change is accelerated and sustained when interventions on managerial skills are initiated simultaneously at several levels. Potential for development and upgradation of human resources is considered critical factor for an organization in the long term. Operationally, 3-TP is a set of three executive courses designed to meet the developmental needs of middle, senior, and top executives of medium and large organizations. The programme emphasizes the problem-solving approach the process of defining problems, specifying objectives, developing alternative courses of action, choosing the best alternative in an uncertain environment, organizing people to implement the chosen alternative, coordinating their work, motivating, inspiring and developing them, and finally measuring and controlling their performance. The 3-Tier Programme, which is being offered for the 49th time, has so far attracted around 9,800 participants from public, private, and government sector organizations. FOR : Preferred age: 28-40 years. The Middle Management Programme is for managers holding positions of responsibility within functional departments of medium to large public and private sector organizations. The participants should have at least five years of managerial experience after graduation. A participant for the Middle Management Programme must have demonstrated outstanding ability, leadership qualities, and potential for growth. As the programme makes exceptional intellectual and emotional demands, participants should have an inquiring mind and capacity to think clearly. They must also have a high degree of adaptability and maturity to work and interact closely with other participants under considerable pressure. The participants are expected to take up leadership problems in their organization in 5-15 years of time. OBJECTIVES : Enhance the managerial skills of the participants to prepare them to shoulder higher responsibilities. Provide the participants with an opportunity to learn management concepts and techniques relevant for formulating and implementing strategies in functional and general management areas. Enable participants to appreciate interdependencies in an organization and acquire perspectives required for general management positions. CONTENTS : The programme is divided into several interdependent modules each of which focuses on a different aspect or function of management. At the end of the programme, there will be an intensive integrated group exercise which would help participants consolidate their learning from various modules of the programme. PEDAGOGY :
