Basic Hygiene Teaching for Every Chikiting

Community Information

Brgy. Lagyo is one of the 59 baranggay of Gumaca ,Quezon .The population as


detremined by the 2020 Census was 2,079.This total represented 2.89% of the tota;
population of Gumaca. Most of the residents in Brgy.Lagyo lives besides railroad of
PNR and seashore .Brgy .Lagyo have clinic besides the multi purpose hall and do have
day care center school and elementary school.

Project Site

The project will be held in Brgy.Lagyo Covered court which is the applicable place to
conduct the teachong and demonstration about the basic hygiene teaching for children.

Proponent

The proponent of this project is a student form Eastern Quezon College from BSED
2nd year college student named Jesslin N. Nasol with the guidance of Mr. Arvin Burce
and baranggay Lagyo officials.
Project Background

According to World Health Organization(WHO) Hygiene refers to conditions and


practices that help to maintain health and prevent the spread of diseases.The project
"Basic Hygiene Teaching for Every Chikiting " aims to give awareness at the same time
knowledges and free things to use on practicing the basic hygiene for
children.Brgy.Lagyo do have many children that suits to the mentioned project so many
can gain benefits to avoid and prevent the spread of diseases especially in our current
situation were covid-19 still not yet done.the project schedule is saturday June 12 2022.
chose this project because i think children here must atleast have ideas on the basic
hygiene with the help of their parents.

Define the Problem

As a member of a community I see and observe how children happy when they play
different outdoor/indoor activities or games. We all know that since last year 2020
everybody should stay at home and be safe because of the covid-19 but as the level of
active cases decreased the rules and regulations changes which everybody is now
allowed to go outside.

Here in Brgy .Lagyo many children mostly type of activity is outdoor games many
of them do not have toys to play sometimes their options is to pick garbagesand play
like having mini store as the trashes is their products , playing mud as alternative to
clays and more on physical and socialization activities.

The mentioned activities causes engagement on skin diseases, worm infestations ,


whooping cough , common cold ,toothache and other illness that a child can possibly
have through being active and engaged on activities . One of the reason why children
cannot avoid easily the mentioned illnes is family guardians do not have enough
knowledge about the basic hygiene that a child should practice . Secondly, there's
misconception among them regardding the maintenance of personal hygiene . Lastly,
there are family here in Brgy. Lagyo do not have enough money to have atelast anti-
bacterial soap at home. However,majority of the childhood illneses are preventable by
promoting hygienic practices.
Objectives

 To give / share knowledge about the importance of basic hygienic practices

 To give children especially who don't have enough money to atleast have the
basic things to use on performing of basic hygiene.

 To influence and motivate them to spread the advantages of basic hygiene to


their family community

Present Your Solution

This project will help children at the same time the parents to be well oriented on
basic hygienic practices through the things to be use on performing and teaching the
basic hygiene practices. Here's the actual steps on conducting the project teaching of
basic hygiene for every chikiting project

 First it will be start through orientation which includes giving idea what are the
causes of childrens illness and at the last part of the orientation there will be a
discussion about the advantages of having basic hygiene for children.

 Familiarizing or giving the proper way of using and steps of the things to be given
free for children which are the toothbrush , toothpaste , anti bacterial soap,
sanitizer and hand towels.

 Actual performing with the help of parents of the children about the basic
hygiene tha can do in the said project site .

Print out brochures - 700 pesos sanitizers- 2,250 pesos

Anti- bacterial soap- 1,150 pesos hand towels- 800 pesos

Toothbrush- 1,200 pesos snacks within the day of orientation- 3,000 pesos

Toothpaste - 1,600 pesos

Total Cost- 10,700
