Jekyll & Hyde Master List

Hello!

This is just a page of background information / context on this list – what it contains, why I
created it, and the limitations. If you aren’t interested in that, just skip it!

What this is: I made a list of bootlegs and media from the American productions of Jekyll
& Hyde spanning 1990-2001, including: video recordings, audio recordings, press reels, TV
performances, and interviews. I have a huge passion for collecting and preserving as much as I
can of the life this show had, from the Alley Theatre to its four-year run on Broadway and
beyond. (I collect articles, photos, and memorabilia too!)

I made this to keep track of all the J&H media that I know existed from this period and
put all of it in one place. This is comprehensive in that it is absolutely everything that I found in
the past eight months of work. However, but there’s probably more out there that just either
wasn’t put online or has been lost to time. I wasn’t around when these recordings were
recorded / in circulation. I’m limited to the data I can access / recover online now. Many of
these are from old, old websites, and many of the people who had or have them are no longer
active traders. I am trying my best to recover these recordings, though.

However, I’ve spent a lot of time in the past eight months fine-tooth-combing online
searches for any information I can possibly find - trading websites, lists, chat boards,
information and links. This is just 14 pages, but it’s 14 pages taken from many hours of scouring
the web and searching.

If you have anything here, (or anything not here) and would be willing to trade, sell, or
share them, I would be extremely grateful! If you know any trader who was active during this
period, and might have recordings on this list, please let me know. If you know anyone with
physical copies (cassettes, VHS’s) I will pay to have it digitized! I really want to preserve this
show I love and the life it had.

If you have any additional info on more bootlegs, any tips for me in this endeavor, any
additional information in general or just words of wisdom, I would really appreciate your help.
Please email me at [email protected]. If you’re just a Jekyll & Hyde fan and would
like to trade or talk, please email me as well!

Thank you for reading all this! Now, on to the list!

Jekyll & Hyde - cornnutstrading’s list – May 2020

Brian Noonan (alt. HenryJekyll/Edward Hyde) Sharon Brown (Lucy Harris) Andrea
Rivette (Emma Carew), James Clow (Utterson), Dennis Kelly (Sir Danvers Carew), Abe
Reybold (Simon Stride)
Notes: Last in San Diego. Close to a 'B- '...lots of analog hiss. Missing the first second or
two of the show.

October 1999 - Boston, MA

Brian Noonan (alt)/Sharon Brown/Andrea Rivette
Notes: (A-/B). Unfortunately, I had to downgrade this audio for several reasons. First, it
is missing large pieces in Act 1. It is missing the very begining speeches, most of the
Engagement Party (up until 'Take Me As I Am') and all of 'Sympathy, Tenderness' up
through the begining of 'Someone Like You'. Very dissapointing. Also, Act 2 is MUCH
softer than Act 1...and it is missing the begining of Murder, Murder. Because of the large
increase in analog hiss in Act 2, I had to split the grade- because the rest of the audio is
so much better. I hope to try and improve Act 2 when I transfer it to CD, but it will never
be as good as Act 1. Noonan is excellent, much better than I remember. Definitely
better than Wagner.

December 19, 1999 – Cincinatti, OH ★

Brian Noonan (alt. Jekyll / Hyde), Sharon Brown (Lucy Harris), Andrea Rivette (Emma
Carew), James Clow
Notes: 2-second pauses. Tracks have been cut a little strangely, but it shouldn't be too
obtrusive with disc-at-once. It does, however, begin in the middle of the Jekyll
introductory monologue. Rather muffled sound. Brian's Hyde voice greatly resembles
his Gaston voice, but as Jekyll he's much lighter and I love how he sounds. He plays
Hyde a bit too smoothly and operatically, though. He's not nearly sinister enough.

?? - ?? -1999 - Pensecola, FL (notes explain this location) ★

Chuck Wagner (Jekyll/Hyde), Nancy Brown (u/s Lucy), Kelli O'Hara (Emma), James Clow
Note: Has a radio interview with Wagner, as well as one review for "Anyone Can
Whistle" in Philadelphia, and two tracks that sound like Wagner that have nothing to do
with "Jekyll and Hyde," "Anyone Can Whistle" or any other show. Also, the tour never
went near Pensecola, and was not in Florida in April 2000. Anyone got a clue?

April 2000 - ★
Chuck Wagner (Jekyll/Hyde), Sharon Brown(Lucy), Kelli O'Hara (Emma)
Notes: Kelli O'Hara first major starring role I believe! She would later be in the Broadway
ensemble.
April 2000 means it could have been recorded anywhere from the end of the tour’s stop
in Chicago, IL (March 28 – April 9) to the last stop in Houston, TX (Apr 25 – Apr 30)

A generational-caused horizontal wiggle appears often, and the bar at the bottom of the
