Surveying Practical 2.0 (Setting Out) Report

This document outlines the process of setting out a building structure, including orientation and direction calculations, fieldwork, and a building sketch. Key points of the project include setting up stations J1 and CANAL to determine orientation, using polar coordinates to calculate points A-H that define the building walls, and conducting fieldwork to lay out the structure. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of precision in measurements and computations to successfully construct a building without errors.

1. Introduction

Setting out is either the process by which information is taken from construction design drawings
and then pegs, profiles, or other marks are set to control the construction work and to ensure that
each element is constructed, where the positions and levels of buildings, roads, drainages, sewers, and
all other engineering projects are already marked on a plan are transferred to the ground by a variety
of methods and by specifically manufactured instruments.

2. Aim

To position the structure in the appropriate relative and absolute positions.

6. Summary and conclusion
In order for a building to be effectively constructed, it is crucial to precisely measure the structure's
measurements in accordance with the layout plan. Buildings with errors will have defaults, which
will cost more money and even put the safety of the facility at risk. Therefore, when starting out,
more caution must be used. The length of each wall shall be clearly defined, and the angles of each
wall shall be 90 degrees.

There are two types of mistakes that can be made when a structure is set up: systematic mistakes and
random mistakes. These errors ought to be avoided, and there are a few things that may be done to fix
them. To properly lay out the structure, office work must be carried out with extreme precision. It is
recommended that two separate people perform the computations because the person who checks the
first computation might follow procedures yet fail to catch problems. Nevertheless the project was
done successfully as a group and the calculation also augment the precision of the setting out done at
the field.
