DBMS-ITEC-212 - MINI PROJECT

INSTRUCTIONS:

Ø Title of the project should be based on any domain areas but it should be Databases
oriented project using SQL and PL/SQL PROGRAMMING.
Ø The databases must include minimum of 6 tables.
Ø Design a Database showcasing your skills on building relationship between tables, use of
Constraints and Managing Concurrency Control, Deadlock and Distributed Systems.
Ø Explain the database clearly.
Ø Database Design and Documentation [10 marks] and Presentation and Discussion
[05 Marks]
Ø Total marks:15
Ø Each Team must comprise of 3 or 4 students. You can Choose your topics from the list
given below or any other related topic.

Prepare a Project report explaining about the design elements of your Database and PowerPoint
presentation and submit project report (DOCUMENTATION).

MINI PROJECT requirements and steps:

1. The databases must include minimum of 6 tables.


2. Design a Database showcasing your skills on building relationship
between tables,
3. Apply Joins,Alter,Update,Group by,SET operators
· Use of Constraints(Integrity Constraints-Primary key, NOT Null,
Default,Referential ,Check) and
4. Managing Concurrency Control,Deadlock and Distributed Systems.
5. Explain clearly design elements of the database.
6. Perform all operations like Insert delete, Access data by applying joins using PL/SQL
programs.( Declare , Procedures and Functions)
7. Prepare project document Report and also prepare PowerPoint presentation.
8. Total marks:15 [ 10 Project Document Report + 5 Presentation]

System Design: Phases of database design :

· Requirements collection and analysis (1 Mark)

· Conceptual data model design (2 Marks)

· Logical data model design (2 Marks)

· Physical data model design (2 Marks)

· Implementation using PL/SQL-declare begin end ,Procedures , Functions.

(3 marks)

NOTE:

1. From every group one or two best project will be selected by the course teachers and
prepare them to present on the mini project presentation day.
2. The selected groups need to prepare the poster of their projects for display and also
expected to show the physical database design with implementation on their laptop on
the day of presentation.
