BRIEF PROFILE

Our firm, Akshaya Jain & Associates, provides consultancy services in architecture, urban design, interior
design and project management. Adopting a collaborative approach towards a project, we invest significant
time and resources in putting a proposal together, reflective of our eagerness and determination to deliver
the best. Even while providing state-of-the art technology, our design aims to achieve economy in
construction costs by virtue of efficient space & services planning. In an endeavour to reduce environmental
impact and preserve natural resources, green building features are being incorporated in our projects.
The partners of the firm have ample experience in the field of planning & design of various types of projects
that include institutional, embassy, office/ commercial, industrial, residential, recreational & religious
complexes. We have worked on many architectural design competitions for projects in India and abroad,
and have handled a wide range of projects for the Public sector, Private & Government Organisations. We
are currently handling projects worth approximately INR 720 crore (USD 120 million) having a combined
built-up area of around 17,20,000 sqft. (160,000 sqm.) and master plan/ urban design projects costing more
than INR 2000 crore.
Both the partners of the firm are registered with the Council of Architecture, Fellows of the Indian
Institute of Architects and International Associates of the American Institute of Architects. We are
life members of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers and the Eastern Regional Organisation for
Planning and Housing, Malaysia. We are also registered as Consultant with the World Bank and the
Asian Development Bank.
Akshaya Kumar Jain has more than 40 years of professional experience, and established his erstwhile
practice in 1986. Upon completion of 25 years, he is continuing the practice as Akshaya Jain & Associates
and has also taken over the running projects of his erstwhile firm. Two projects designed by him have been
awarded with ‘Excellence in Architecture’ by the Indian Institute of Architects. Some projects have also been
exhibited in India and France, and have been published in national & international journals, magazines,
newspapers, etc. Kshitij Jain, with 15 years of professional experience, has been involved with a vast range
of projects in India & abroad, and is an Indian Green Building Council Accredited Professional. A few of the
prestigious projects handled/ being handled by the partners are :
§ Indian Chancery Complex at Kathmandu, Nepal, for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA),
Government of India, having a built-up area of 36,000 sq.m. (estimated cost over INR 220 crore).
The design & master plan was selected in a design competition. The project comprises the chancery
offices, 500 capacity auditorium, library, sports building, clinic, diplomatic bungalows & apartments,
alongwith other ancillary buildings, on a 46 acre site. The phase-1 buildings were inaugurated by the
Hon’ble Foreign Minister of India in 2011.
§ Indian-style Buddhist Temple at Luoyang, China, design for which was selected in an architectural
competition by the MEA. The building comprises a Temple hall, seminar rooms & an exhibition hall. The
project received worldwide recognition and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble President of India in 2010.
§ Torana Gateway in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, our design having been selected in competition among 16
architectural/ design firms
§ Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur buildings (costing over INR 300 crore) which include multi-
storied research/ academic buildings for aerosol & nuclear engineering, faculty housing, hostel complex for
1200 students, Institute club, shopping centre and master plan for Software Technology Park on 100 acres
§ Institute of Bioresources & Sustainable Development at Imphal, Manipur, comprising research
institute, 300 capacity auditorium, etc., having an area of 25,000 sq.m., alongwith hostels & housing, with
an estimated cost of around INR 200 crore

§ Civil Aviation Training Centre at Allahabad, a campus on 65 acre site consisting of a centrally air-
conditioned training complex with auditorium, technical laboratories, hostels, with a built-up area of 35,000
sq.m., the design having been selected in a limited competition. This project has been awarded the JIIA
Award-1999 for ‘Excellence in Architecture’ by the Indian Institute of Architects, and was also published in
the German publication “Award Winning Architecture - International Yearbook 1999-2000”, besides other
leading architectural magazines and newspapers.
§ Residential & Public buildings for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. comprising residential
buildings, community halls, guest house, shopping centre, etc.
§ Institutional Campuses for
- National Centre for Training of Personnel in Co-operatives (awarded through a design competition),
which won a Special Mention in A+D & Spectrum Foundation Architecture Awards 2002
- Dyal Singh College, a Delhi University college having campus on a 12.5 acre site in New Delhi
- CRPF Public School at Delhi, with a covered area of 12,000 sq.m.
- Navodaya Vidyalaya at Theog, Simla, comprising school building, hostels for 560 students and staff
quarters, with a covered area of 12,400 sq.m.
- Delhi Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, New Delhi, also awarded through an
architectural design competition. The project, with a built-up area of 22,000 sq.m. comprises a 100-
room Hotel-cum-Training centre, Technical institute, Hostels & Staff quarters
- Master plans for three Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Schools in Gujarat (site areas of 20 & 30
acres) and Maharashtra (29 acres) on PPP mode for Ernst & Young
- Master plan (for Ernst & Young) for Skill Training Institute on a 39 acre site in New Delhi, to be set up
on PPP mode by Delhi Govt. in collaboration with Govt. of Singapore, having an area of 220,000 sq.m.
§ Corporate Office-cum-factory complex for Shahi Exports Ltd. at Faridabad, having a covered area of
35,000 sq.m. The project was awarded the JIIA-Anchor Award-2000 for ‘Excellence in Architecture’ from
the Indian Institute of Architects
§ Prize winning designs for
- Master Plan for the International Hotels Complex on an 800 acre site at New Delhi with 11 five & four
star multi-storied hotels alongwith other commercial, institutional, residential & recreational facilities for
the Delhi Development Authority
- Centre for Electronic Design & Technology on a 10 acre site at Aurangabad
- Dr Ambedkar University on a 250 acre site at Lucknow
- Indira Gandhi Memorial Cultural Complex, Lucknow on a 100 acre site in Lucknow
- Gautam Budh University at Greater Noida, on a 500 acre site with built-up area of 350,000 sq.m.
§ Multi-storied office buildings/ complexes for
- National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in NOIDA
- Lucknow Development Authority, Lucknow (through architectural design competition)
- U.P. Bhumi Sudhar Nigam, Lucknow (through architectural design competition)
- Delhi Co-operative Housing Finance Corporation, New Delhi (through architectural design competition)
- Passport Office building at Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi
- Ganga Shopping Centre for NOIDA (600 shops & offices with an area of 25,000 sq.m.)
- Master plan for Urban City Centre at Mohali, a mixed-use development of GMADA comprising offices,
retail, hotels & housing with built-up area of 500,000 sq.m. on a 34 acre site, for Ernst & Young
