“Dulot’t Simula” (Reaction Paper)

Poetry, if we let it and embrace it, can offer us a way to empathize with one another. In
its immediacy, poetry is a counselor helping us to understand one another. Leading us away
from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity.
“Dulo’t Simula: is a spoken poetry wherein Zuela Herrera wrote and delivered it. This
spoken poetry was about love. The message of the poetry “Dulo’t Simula” is love is giving it
your all. It does not listen to people's judgement but to what your heart says. It is not driven by pride
and insecurity but by pure intensions and real feelings. The poet used a figurative language, and
she was not direct to the point because she wants her readers or listeners to think about the
hidden lessons. It also perfect for those whose love stands strong against all odds.

Guide Question:
1. The elements of poetry present in the piece is a figurative language. Zuela Herrera
used figurative language in her spoken because she compares other thing to one
another.
2. “Silang may mga rehas at mapagmatyag na mga mata” I can relate to that line because
there are some people who really inevitably judge me on whatever I do.
