I. Title of Activity : Campus Tree Planting Activity

II. Schedule / Venue : August 25, 2022 Thursday @ 3:00-5:00 pm at BISU-Clarin Campus (Lot
2 Extension Site)

III. Rationale:

Trees are planted for a number of reasons and these include planting trees to provide shades,
fruits, medicines, wood for crafts, fodder, fuel-wood, poles for construction etc. Trees are also planted to
act as windbreak, to stabilize soil and for aesthetic reasons. The tree planting has changed the
landscape in many settlements including some cattle-posts.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner, Dr. Jo Mark M. Libre wants BISU-
Clarin to plant new trees. This activity will be part of his visit of the campus during the Commencement
Exercises. The Commissioner sees this activity as a stepping stone of our role as the end-users of
Mother Nature.

In this regard, the Extension & Training Unit of Bohol Island State University- Clarin Campus
intends to conduct a “Campus Tree Planting Activity’’ which will be participated by all teaching and non-
teaching personnel.

Significantly, the activity aims to raise awareness of the importance of planting and saving trees,
express deep concern to the environment, and diminish unfavorable effects of climate change. This
activity intends also to restore the environment after having devastated by typhoon “Odette” last 2021.

IV. Objectives:

` The proposed activity aims to:

1. Plant new fruit-bearing trees at the designated site of BISU-Clarin Campus;

2. Give importance on the societal concerns that regards to climate change and its effects to
our community in general; and
3. Restore the campus environment after having devastated by typhoon Odette.

V. Contents / Subject Matter:

VI. Methodology / Process

BISU-Clarin Campus encourages all teaching and non-teaching personnel to take part in the
Campus Tree Planting Activity. They will be grouped into seven with corresponding team leaders who
will guide them in the said activity. Thus, this activity would help in restoration and conservation of our
biodiversity.

Fruit bearing trees, Sharp Bolos, Gardening Gloves, 4 pieces of bamboo slats as tree
protectors (one-meter length)
