A lot of students complain about shortage of time when asked them to do a certain task,
they get frustrated because they are not able to make it before the deadline. On the other hand, others
find enough time to meet their friends and complete their assignments with no struggle. Time
management is the art of arranging, organizing, scheduling and budgeting one’s time for generating
more effectiveness work and productivity. It is also a set of principles, practices, skills, tools and systems
that work together to help you get more value out of your time.
Academic achievement is the outcome of education, that is, the extent to which a
student, teacher or institution has achieved their educational goals. It is usually measured by
examinations or periodic assessment but there is no general agreement on how it is best tested or
which aspects are more important. Academic achievement seems to increase when time
Management skills are well-handled.
Prioritization of tasks may make studying less overwhelming and more enjoyable. Academic
stress and frustration occurs when students feel the pressure of academic commitments, cramming
for exams, rushing through homework and getting minimal sleep because of disorganizations of
time. As we can see, time management is quite essential to any student. Moreover study conducted by
Frazier et al shows time management significantly related to academic performance. Effective time
management techniques should not only be applied to the students’ academic life but to their
overall schedule to achieve success and peace of mind.
Therefore, this study aims to determine the perception of Grade 11 STEM students on how to
manage their time on school works load. It also aims to determine the significant relationship between
their academic performance and the different factors that affects the perception of students towards
their school works.
organizing, scheduling and budgeting one’s time for generating more effectiveness work and
productivity.
The study aims to determine the time management skill on school works and perceived
academic achievements among Grade 11 students.
Hypothesis
There is no significant relationship between the levels of perception of Grade 11 STEM students
towards managing their time towards school works.
School Community. It will enhance the performance of the school in specialized subject for
STEM students in their perspective subjects.
Teachers. They will be provided with information about the level of performance of student in
the specialized subject for STEM. Specifically, teachers will be able to determine the perception of
students with the subject and how it can manage their timr. It will give them essential information to
come up with better and appropriate arrangement of strategies in dealing the diversified learners.
Students. They will be able to determine how their perceptions about managing their time
towards school work. The information about their study on perception gives them the idea that their
attention to the subject affects them and should focus to achieve better academic performance.
Parents. They will be aware about the performance of their children and for them to monitor
and properly guide their children to improve their academic performance
Future Researchers. To serve as a basis for further research and to serve as a literature for other
studies related in time management skill and perceived academic achievements.
