TDS Biocide

and packer fluids.

APPLICATION

Biocide is a concentrated liquid biocide that is used for preventing bacterial growth in water-based drilling
and packer fluids that contain biodegradable products such as starches.
Biocide is hazardous and additional precautions must be taken when handling, as recommended in the
MSDS. Biocide should also be mixed in a well-ventilated area.
The recommended treatment is 1 gallon Biocide per 100 bbls drilling or packer fluid, with additional
treatments as and when required.

TECHNICAL & ENGINEERING INFORMATION

Biocide is organic sodium salts in concentrated liquid form. It is effective in controlling a wide range of
micro-organisms in saline solution.

PACKAGING AND STORAGE

Biocide is supplied in 5 gal (19 lt) cans and 55 gal (208 lt) steel drums. Contents valid for 2 years from
manufacturing date on the drum.

HSE

Biocide is classified as toxic and is hazardous to health, especially if ingested. It is an irritant and contact
must be avoided at all times. The following safety wear, as recommended in the MSDS, should be used
when mixing Biocide:
- Standard PPE
- Chemical Splash Goggles
- Respiratory Mask
- Chemical Apron
- Chemical Gauntlets
Make sure crews handling and mixing Biocide are familiar with the MSDS, know the corrective actions to
take, and know where eye-wash bottles are located.
