After I’ve read the rationale, I salute DepEd on how they

ensured the effective implementation of the K to 12 for every
learner to acquire quality, accessible, relevant and liberating
education. The implementation of the K to 12 Curriculum provides
opportunity and sufficient time for the learners to acquire and
master lifelong learning skills for the 21st century.

Due to the situation brought by the pandemic which

resulted immediate lockdown and freezing the operations in many
aspects and had affected greatly the educational system. DepEd
decided to adjust the usual school calendar in order to continue
education. Schools and communities were encouraged to adhere
to the revised school calendar and activities to comply with the
required number of school days to attain the learning standards as
well as to ensure the celebration of school activities and events.

To foster harmonious relationships with the wider school community, it is
important to involve the learners, parents, and other stakeholders in identifying and
resolving issues and concerns in the school community. Discuss how you can help in
each scenario and involve some key personnel who can help you resolve the
following challenges.

Scenario 1
Teacher Lozano, the mother of one of your advisory students, visited you in the
school because for a bullying incident that you are not aware of. She was very angry
and disappointed about what happened because the incident was not addressed and
resolved properly. Her daughter is still afraid and decided no to go to school that day.
The incident happened during science time because the teacher was late to enter
the class. You also had other classes to attend to and had no chance to meet your
advisory class during that time. Who should you seek help to?
In this case, I would first seek the advice of the school guidance counselor to
determine the best way to resolve the problem in collaboration with the parents and
students involved. If the issue has not been resolved, its time to seek assistance
from the school principal.

Scenario 2
Teacher Mary Ann, a fellow teacher whom you consider a friend, messaged you on
Facebook and told you that she will be absent tomorrow. She asked you to substitute
all her five classes. Without letting your respond, she already sent you the learning
materials for her lessons tomorrow. However, you also have classes to attend and
your learners are expecting to deliver a performance that they prepared for. What are
you going to do as a colleague and who should you direct her to?
I’ll be honest with her and tell her that I have classes to attend as well, I will
advise her to notify the principal that she is no longer able to attend school and that
she requires a substitute teacher, so the principal can decide which teacher is
available to look after her class.

Scenario 3
Lito the class president of your advisory class, was elected as the president of the
Supreme Student Government (SSG). After three months, his subject teachers are
having trouble with his class standing because of his frequent absences and non-
submission of required written and performance tasks. Lito is getting overwhelmed
with the various school activities he manages. What are you going to do as the
adviser?
I’ll explain to Lito that I understand his role as President of the Supreme
Student Government that he has many duties and responsibilities to fulfill, but I’ll also
remind him that he shouldn’t be solely focused on this; he has other subjects to
prioritize. To avoid conflicts over his grades, he should learn to balance his
responsibilities and academic subjects. I will advise him to make a daily time
schedule so that he can fulfill both of his responsibilities without jeopardizing his
academic study.

Teachers have a large impact on the lives of their students. It is the

responsibility of a teacher to bring out the best in their students and to
inspire them to achieve greatness. Students are thought to be the
nations future, and teachers are thought to be a trustworthy guide for
the development. Teachers are in charge of shaping their students’
futures and helping them become better people. The presence of a
teacher in a student’s life can boost morale and guide them to become
more valuable in life. The role of the teachers has shifted with the
advent of the modern era. It is the responsibility of the teachers to
apply the lesson to real-life situations in order to encourage students to
participate.

2. How do you think are those roles manifested in being a classroom adviser?

3. So far, how was your experience as a classroom adviser?

 My experience as a classroom teacher has been both rewarding and
challenging. I’ve discovered that there are still a lot of things I can do to
help my students develop their skills. While I’m teaching, I am also
learning a lot from their stories and experiences. Handling a huge class
was not easy and by that your patience will be tested on how far are
you willing to do something for the welfare of your students.
