Configuration Example Configuring The 1 Plus 1 IntraBoard Protection
Example Description
The intra-board 1+1 protection is applicable to the chain network and ring network.
This example is about the intra-board 1+1 protection applied in the ring network.
Configuration Process
To configure the intra-board 1+1 protection for project P, configure the bidirectional
protection between NE A and NE B, NE A and NE C, and NE A and NE D.
Example Description
The intra-board 1+1 protection is applicable to the chain network and ring network. This
example is about the intra-board 1+1 protection applied in the ring network.
In project P, NE A, NE B, NE C, and NE D form a ring network and are all OADM stations,
where the OptiX OSN 6800 equipment is deployed. The protection configuration for the
OptiX OSN 9600/9800 series, OptiX OSN 8800 series and OptiX OSN 3800 is the same as
the protection configuration for the OptiX OSN 6800. Figure 1 shows the network design
diagram for project P.
Configuration Process
To configure the intra-board 1+1 protection for project P, configure the bidirectional
protection between NE A and NE B, NE A and NE C, and NE A and NE D.
Procedure
1. Configure the NE A:
a. In the NE Explorer, click NE A and choose Configuration > Port Protection from the
Function Tree.
b. In Port Protection, click New to display the Confirm dialog box. Then, click OK to
display the Create Protection Group dialog box.
c. Set the parameters of the first protection group on NE A.
d. Click OK to display a dialog box. In the dialog box, click Close. Then, the first
protection group is created and displayed on the interface.
e. Click New to display the Confirm dialog box. Then, click OK to display the Create
Protection Group dialog box.
f. Set the parameters of the second protection group on NE A.
g. Click OK to display a dialog box. In the dialog box, click Close. Then, the second
protection group is created and displayed on the interface.
h. Click New to display the Confirm dialog box. Then, click OK to display the Create
Protection Group dialog box.
i. Set the parameters of the third protection group on NE A.
j. Click OK to display a dialog box. In the dialog box, click Close. Then, the third
protection group is created and displayed on the interface.
2. Configure the NE B:
a. In the NE Explorer, click NE B and choose Configuration > Port Protection from the
Function Tree.
b. In Port Protection, click New to display the Confirm dialog box. Then, click OK to
display the Create Protection Group dialog box.
c. Set the parameters of the protection group on NE B.
d. Click OK to display a dialog box. In the dialog box, click Close. Then, the protection
group is created and displayed on the interface.
4. Configure the NE D:
a. In the NE Explorer, click NE D and choose Configuration > Port Protection from the
Function Tree.
b. In Port Protection, click New to display the Confirm dialog box. Then, click OK to
display the Create Protection Group dialog box.
c. Set the parameters of the protection group on NE D.
d. Click OK to display a dialog box. In the dialog box, click Close. Then, the protection
group is created and displayed on the interface.

Procedure
NOTICE:
In Method 1, you must disconnect the fiber that inputs signals to the OLP
board in station A. Otherwise, protection switching may be performed twice or
no protection switching is performed. In this way, the detected switching time
is more scientific.
6. Click Query, a prompt appears to indicate that the operation was successful. Click
Close. And Switching Status of the protection group should be Idle.
